Did Mr Anabolic die?
« on: October 28, 2026, 11:06:50 AM »
Remember this guy? He was also a good guy, who went insane with anger back in the day when BTC was pre 3K, calling it "internet vapor wear". etc. And then as BTC kept rising, he just absolutely lost it.

He meant well. And then just disappeared. Anyone know if he's still around?

He secretly invested his life savings into BTC, then retired to Dubai, India. He will return shortly.

Is that who I inherited that Bitcoin thread from?  I was the second poster on it and then the original thread starter disappeared and left me as the first one / author.

Probably just stopped posting.  Could have died too, I suppose.

Was he the guy who was the big gold advocate?

It’s a speculative financial instrument.  Like a stock you can buy, except less regulated/protected and even more unmoored from reality.

That's a good explanation.  I always felt at some point it would become worthless and these overnight millionaires would mass unalive themselves.

I know someone who claims to be a multi millionaire because of how much bitcoin they claim to have. And they supposedly have just sat on their account for years and years, taking withdrawals here and there for fun stuff, like sporting evernts and lavish vacations. Does this sound possible to you?

It could be.  Remember those guys from Silk Road were swapping this way back then for Pennies  it seemed.

May 2010 (Bitcoin Pizza Day): A programmer completed the first real-world commercial transaction by paying 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. At the time, the coins were valued at roughly $0.003 to $0.004

Read the bitcoin thread - I explained it so perfectly many times. What do you want to know?

What you should (and presumably do know) is that Govt issued money can, and will be printed to infinity, thus diluting its value to infinity. Only a fool would work for, let alone try to store value, in a currency that can be infinitely printed. Let alone stored with a 3rd party being a bank, so that even that money you think is yours, is actually not - rather you have an IOU from a bank, for an infinitely declining currency. Bitcoin is your defence against that (if you understand the core properties of bitcoin).

Yes, I think he was kind of a gold, ammo, and canned food sorta old school guy. Bitcoin and its continued rise infuriated him.

No, I don't think he was the original poster of it.  I was the 2nd one to post on it and the dude that made it disappeared.  Like all his posts on the board did apparently.

Gib has previously claimed his original post starting the thread mysteriously vanished.

Oh, ok then.  I know I didn't start it.  But there I am.  Looking all fine and shit as the originator.

I don't have money to invest in bitcoin but I have a general question. How possible is it to have "secret" bitcoin that the government can't touch? For example, the US gov says it has confiscated a lot of Iranian bitcoin wallets.

How possible is it to pay or receive truly anonymously with bitcoin? I follow one dissident writer who is hiding from the US gov in East Asia since many years, and he was always talking about Monero and how he created individual addresses for each transaction or something to that effect, so people could pay anonymously.
