Looks good, but very low IQ. Normal people do not run marathons, completely pointless and destructive to your body. A hobby for the mentally challenged

That's horrible. I read she made it to the 24th mile, 2 miles before the finish. That's crazy.

Rhabdomyolysis (often called "rhabdo") is a serious, life-threatening medical condition that occurs when damaged skeletal muscle tissue breaks down rapidly and dies. As these muscle cells rupture, they leak their toxic internal contents—including electrolytes and a protein called myoglobin—directly into the bloodstream. When the kidneys try to filter out this massive influx of myoglobin, it can physically clog and damage their filtration system, potentially leading to permanent organ damage or fatal acute kidney failure.

I've heard bodybuilders warning of this. How much do you need to exercise for this to happen? How come David Goggins hasn't become a victim of this?

People seem to forget that the Greek who ran the 1st marathon died at the finish.

No one can tell, I'm sure lots of people have gotten it, just not to the hospitalization point. It's one of those things that can range from "I feel crappy, let me take some days off" to "Help, my piss looks like clamato juice".  Goggins has gotten it a ton of times, he just hasn't had it bad enough to kill him.

Years ago, when Crossfit was new, you weren't considered a true Crossfitter unless you had some sort of Rhabdo. One of the big culprits was aggresive sit ups on the Glute Ham Raise without having a base in them.

Rhabdo was so common, "Getting Visited By Uncle Rhabdo" became a meme in that circle -

RIP to this young girl, rhabdo is a sneaky thing.

Yes, seems like she had more of a soccer physique than a runner.

No one is really built for running, but the ones that do have some success tend to mimic the Kenyan or Ethiopian physique.

I respect it if people want to run marathons for the mental challenge but it's not healthy. Muscle loss, castrate levels of testosterone, osteoporosis, wrecked joints, constantly high levels of cortisol and depression.

I still remember reading this decades ago; thought it was fascinating.

Quote
Alberto Salazar was a legendary figure in distance running, winning the New York City Marathon three consecutive times (1980–1982) and the 1982 Boston Marathon. However, his grueling training regimen took a massive toll on his body. Following his 1982 victories, his performance plummeted drastically.

For nearly a decade, he suffered from severe chronic fatigue, listlessness, injuries, and undiagnosed exercise-induced asthma. He grew to hate running, later stating he used to wish for a "cataclysmic injury" just so he wouldn't have to torture himself anymore.

In 1993, a physician diagnosed Salazar's issues as a form of clinical depression and physical burnout brought on by years of extreme overtraining. Doctors theorized that his excessive training had triggered harmful hormonal changes in his brain.

He was prescribed the antidepressant Prozac (fluoxetine). The effects were almost immediate:
• His energy levels and general health dramatically improved.

• He began enjoying running again and found the motivation to train professionally.
• He reportedly saw immediate pacing improvements during his workouts.

🏆 The Comrades Marathon Victory

In June 1994, at age 35 and after 12 winless years, Salazar entered the prestigious Comrades Marathon in South Africa—an grueling 90-kilometer (56-mile) ultra-marathon. Against all expectations, he won the race.
Salazar openly attributed his historic comeback to determination, smart workouts, and Prozac

Did he cheat? Was he doping?
