Prejudging anomalies at Colo Pro
« on: May 15, 2006, 05:25:36 PM »
1- The judges have Darrem and Phil Heath come back out at the end of prejudging, to settle the tie.

2- Steve Weinberger said that Phil Heath easily won EVERY mandatory pose in prejudging.

Why bring them back out, if Heath SWEPT every categoty?  And, if this is true, why did it take 15 minutes to calculate the final scores?  Were there issues with #3-10?

Also, realistically, how did Darrem lose the rear lat spread shots? he KILLED Heath in that shot.  And, why did the BBing.com feed DROP OUT during the prejudging?  A less trusting person could connect the two to realize that- just like when they didn't show Bob next to Rusty at the Masters O - the staff knew that Phil would have straight 1's, and didn't want to show them side by side, with Phil getting beaten.

I dunno.  Just seems weird.  Straight 1's. Hmmm.

Judging from the pics alone I thought Phil had the edge , 240 is in Oliva Stone mode , and what happened to your Peter McGough thread?

Even Phil admitted that after watching the replay, Darrem beat him in the first rounds of the mandatories.  Crowd thought so too.  Most pundits thought Darrem won most poses.  Yet the scorecard- which hasn't been released yet- still says that Darrem LOST every pose to Heath.

I could see Phil winning the overall because he looked better at night.  But seriously, did Phil look better in EVERY mandatory?

This happened at the 2004 NOC too. But Melvin was in total denial about his victory there. Darrem beat him on every pose. (melvin was a pinnacle athlete...the 04 NOC's biggest sponsor was pinnacle)

I havent studied the pics from the Colorado show. Not that pics tell the true story.

I know Phil got the hometown and VYO nudge, and I don't even care about that.

What I do care about is that they don't even bother to make it LOOK legitimate.

Straight ONEs?  EVERY POSE?  Who writes this stuff...

and coincidentally, just like the masters pro, the camera didn't let the fans see them side by side.  I'm just pointing it out- even tho ppl will chime in with 'conspirary theory!' - so that when it happens at the next show, and the following show, ppl will start to realize the judging needs reform  :-\

When they judge rear shots, their not just looking at the size of the back but the total package from the rear.  Hamstrings, glutes, tie ins calves everything.  Yeah Darrem's back was wider but Phil's total package was just better.  Phil's hamtrings were harder and more seperated, glutes were harder, and what is up with the funky shape of Darrem calves?  It's not always the hardest or biggest guy who wins every shot, but the best overall package.  I'm not defending the judging because I don't believe Phil won every shot, but it was alot closer than you might think.

Here's my take:

You don't know shit 240.

You do bring up one valid point though.

The judges have a tendency of just handing out the points once they've decided on placings, which makes most first places seem equal.

Too bad your valid points gets discredited by your history.

Very good points IMO. But please drop the conspiracy theories. I would think it has more to do with complacency among the judges.

well, as the number of tickets sold show, fans don't see this as a real sporting event.  And every time another show is *gift*wrapped with perfect scores, more fans realize it's just a corporate beauty contest.  And less buy tickets.

Oh, I thought you had identified the reason for low sales in that there were no comedian present?

But you think *perhaps* people want a contest? :o

How about that funnyman BTW?

Okay, maybe not a comedian, but something else to make it more interesting and maintain the flow better.  When the majority of the crowd LEAVES before the mens pro finals, it means its just not attractive enough of an offer to stay.

I'm just trying to stir up ideas to make it more comfortable, more fluid, more interesting.  There has to be a way to do it.

maybe.

But when the NY Pro, the 4 grand prix shows, and the Olympia all give straight 1s to the winner who also happens to be the face of the biggest sponsor, and fans stop coming cause they're tired of predictable contests, please just remember this "bull shit" post.

Hell, why not have Phil heath do every appearance?  He is the reigning champ.  He has to re-sign with VYO this year.  Shawn, write that into his contract!  Two appearances a week, in the denver area, every saturday for those 8 weeks.  It's take maybe 3-4 hours out of his day.  And his own value would go up too.

LiftStudio:
LOL! You are too funny bro. Phil isn't signed with any supplement company and hasn't signed a contract with Vyo-tech or any other supp. company

I was right in the other thread 240, Phil isn't with Vyo-Tech.

Owned  ;D

I guess you're right.  Look for your 'owning' check in the mail.  Phil being with VYO has been discussed all year.  Strange.

If Phil was with Vyo-Tech, we would see is face 50 times in the ads of Vyo-tech while reading MD.

Vyo-Tech has Willmore and Melvin, I think that's about it for the men. They a have a couple of figure girl too
