Always thought this story was funny: Arnold used to train with Franco Columbu at Gold's Gym in Venice, CA. In the early 70's, Venice had more than its fair share of hippies, flower children and other worldly characters. Most of these people had seen it all, or thought they had. As the story goes, some of these people used to wander into the gym, and seeing Arnold, stood there staring at him in astonishment. When this happened, Arnold would shout to Franco, asking him to hand him another five thousand pound plate.

More like smashing the 5 pound plate into the bar as if it's 5000 pounds.. To make him more "macho"..

y is every 1 is dissin franco..columbu was one of the strongest bodybuilders and one of the best built at a height of 5.5 feet..that pic looks cool and franco looks thick

Jeez...please lighten up a little. Yes, he had a better build than any of us will ever have, and he's accomplished quite a bit in life. But he appears to have put his trunks on backwards that day (probably unintentionally, but maybe not) and it looks kinda funny.

President Bush is arguably the most powerful man in the world, and he takes his share of ribbing from critics and supporters alike for his bumbling antics.  Do Franco's lofty accomplishments put him on such an almighty pedestal that he is beyond anyone poking a little fun at anything he ever did? For all we know, he may have deliberately put the trunks on backwards as some sort of joke. Then again, maybe the trunks are not on backwards - maybe they just look that way.

That middle shot of Franco outside is the old World Gym.  That was so much fun to train outside like that.  What memories that gym had.  Shit I was probably right there when that phot was taken.  Franco trained without a shirt allot of times not just to take photos. He would do his bent over rows without a shirt on and his lats were simply beyond huge.  And he gave great massages too. (he was working on getting his Chiropractor license back then and gave massages if you wanted one so he could practice.)
