would you agree that a contest is won at the pre judging?
« on: May 19, 2006, 07:27:52 AM »
it always seems to me that which ever competetor or competetors get the nod and impress the judges at the pre judging usually win or place high,i know there are exceptions to the rule but for the most part it seems the contest is pretty much decided at the pre judging

I think that is how it has always been. What happened at the Colorado Pro? I hear that Darrem looked better in the morning and Phil better at night. Did Darrem win the prejudging?

It should be judged at the PJ or why else have one?

Darrem wasn't as sliced as normal, he was still a bit off, I think he's saving it for the New York show.

If the judges based strictly on conditioning and proportion, you would have a new winner every year.

Cutler did win the prejudging in 2001, only to find out that Ronnie had more patriotic posing trunks in the night show. It was obviously a good time for patriotism :'(

i agree, but ive seen afew shows where a guy looked alittle off at the prejudging only to come in at the night show improved and win, cutler and coleman come to mind that one year, jay looked sharper at the pre judging and ronnie came back at the night show alittle improved, politics at its best imo

Well, from my experience as a judge (amateur comps.), the evening posing routines have no bearing on the final scoring. Only the pre-judging counts for placings.

thats interesting,so basiclly the night show is just for entertainment for the crowd?but what if a guy looked awesome at the prejudging and somehow got alittle bloated between the pre judge and the evening show it wouldnt matter?im just starting to understand how it works which is cool

I think it's completely different in the pros. The last two rounds exist so the judges can give the show to whomever they want to, provided he was close enough earlier ;D

I think that it only happens when someone wins the prejudging when they were not supposed to. Basically, in 2001, when Cutler won the prejudging, the last two rounds were used to give Ronnie the victory.

I had the second post on here.......why was it deleted. Did the truth hurt??

Ron, you might want to consider listing your "extra" mods, you know the ones who don't say their not mods but have the power to delete. This is getting to be as rediclous as Mayhem!!

I agree with you for the most part, but in the case of the Olympia, it's won 7-8 years in advance :-X!!

P.S. Lets see how long this stays up for!

Mysterious!

The Yankees came close to winning, too, but they fell just short.
