That's Czechoslovakia's Jaroslav Horvath.  He came back from a bicep tear a few years ago and I agree with you, he does look great.

I just sorta fast-forwarded through the NY Pro prejudging.  Here was a real classy scene where Jaro had the audacity to step forward a little in the lineup during the most-muscular comparison...  so what does Klownmali do?  Elbows him and almost knocks him off his feet.  Real nice move, "King." ::)

To his credit, Horvath handled it very professionally and didn't appear to let Shari get under his skin.  And Kamali made himself look like an ass.  What a Klown.

Seriously, the judges should dock points for such unsportsmanlike behavior.

OK....  and actually when he was born, it was just "Slovakia" which doesn't exist anymore either......  so I was wrong either way.  So where do you say he's from?  The name it had when he was born, or the name it has now?

I guess I should've said he's from the former Slovakia, or the current Czech Republic. :-\  Geeze, how confusing.

Jaroslav Horvath in NOT from the Czech Republic, but from Slovakia.
Nobody corrected that and nobody from the US controlled IFBB seems to know.
He deserved to be in the top five! Does anybody seriously believe that Bill Wilmore or King Kamali was better than Jaroslav?

He's always had that calssic look to him, he is one of those quality physiques (like ahmed haidar) that doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Yeah I just checked that out after I read this, that was a pretty classy move. Kamali is garbage, he cant hold his own on stage so he makes himself look even more stupid. He was getting schooled by Jaroslav and Rodney. Damn I must admit, St. Cloud looked pretty sick.

Good post!  After watching the webcast and seeing all the pics I have to say I don't think there is ANYWAY King Kamali should have placed ahead of Horvath, Willmore, Rodney St.Cloud (had him in 5th), George Farah and even Jablonicky! 

King Kamali has only deteriorated in the last few years and I think he should seriously consider RETIREMENT.

Good to see you come out of the shed Grant! I agree, Farah and others seemed much better than Kamili. I think his biggest flaw is not being consistent. But he seems to be very determined to acquire more success and I respect him for that.

I agree with Grant. Kamali looks terrible these days. That midsection is ruined for life. Jaraslav Horvath is ten times better than King Kamali. I had him and Pavol Jablonickey (who was majorly off) ahead of Kamali easily.

Jaroslav always gets screwed in the US. He was unlucky to not qualify for the olympia a couple of years back at the Australian Grand Prix. He has some of the freakiest abs around and one of the best physiques

Jaroslav has always been one of my favourite pros since I first met him in 1999.
He is one of those guys that looks bigger on stage than in real life.

But when you see him live it´s still amazing, everything is sitting where it should without making him look like big belly neanderthal. I asked him how he tore his biceps and he said he did it while he was helping his father do hard labour work and not in the gym.

He trained strange too. Two weight workout a´20min and one cardio a´20min each day.

He was quite famous in europe for a long time before he turned pro, he was unbeatable for many years in Mr.Universe/Amateur World Championships as both a middleweight and a lightheavyweight.

I remember that his sponsor was a real ass and really used the guy because he came from a poor country, paid him almost nothing, gave him fake products etc. The guy himself was 120 soaking wet. I never understood why a guy with such potential choses such a looser. I think this have kept him down. Lets hope he´s not working with that guy anymore and gets a proper trainer like Milos or something.
