the show is Dog Bites Man, on Comedy Central, about a local tv news crew going out and getting stories. the first episode, I guess the pilot, is about filming a news report on bodybuilding.
I was at Gold's Venice the day they filmed there, almost a year ago. the star was quite the diva. he threw more than one temper tantrum, and the director had to talk to him to calm him down, and convince him to do the scenes the way she wanted.
at the end, they wanted to do something humorous for the closing credits where the star tried to lift a barbell, but couldn't, but then the skinny costar (I think the one playing the sound guy) picks up the bar, throws it over his shoulder and walks off. the bar was wood and the weights were styrofoam, all painted black. they even got 4-5 of the biggest male and female bodybuilders in the gym to stand behind the star. the bodybuilders had to sign waivers and everything before they could film the scene. then when it was time to film, instead of straining to pick up the barbell, the star picks it up and breaks the wood into pieces, then breaks each of the styrofoam weights. No second takes there.
