In the book "The Education of a Bodybuilder" in 1977 that building strong abdominals strengthens your posture. Is this true and if so, why??

I don't pay much attention to the words of arnold,
but this is actually true.

It's also known as core-training.

Strong abs and lower back (don't forget that part) make a stable midsection.

yeah but i don't think you have to do specific excersises to train just your "Core." Your abs get worked in alot of excersises like tricep pushdowns and even bench presses so those excersises help to build core strength but you can't ignore those muscles either.

having strong abs is very important for weightlifting. it makes your entire body more stable during certain lifts and it can help prevent muscle imbalances which can lead to injuries. train your abs just as hard as everything else, weighted exercises and heavy weight. you will be suprised how much more stable you will feel during squats and standing overhead presses once you get a strong mid-section. Arnold was right...
