I'm glad to see another honest person on the boards ;D

nothing wrong with Bally's, 9 dollars a month for life(after the first three years anyway) is tough to beat. I just prefer my friends gym for now.

635 is an awesome bench................... .if you're a powerlifter but it's absolutly useless in football!!

not as important as leverage for sure, but those O linemen are pushing off some pretty strong dudes, coming at them with a lot of momentum. I think it helps them to be able to push around alot of weight(bench),just my two cents.

225 bench test is basically a test of muscular endurance and explosive power that one if the reasons why they have that test instead of a 1RM, personally I think they should incorporate the same test for in the squat.

no one at the combine ever impresses me with their 225 reps. I can do more than alot of them and I obviously have nowhere near their functional strength.

I would imagine many people like to see how much they can lift just to regurgitate it on the boards and to tell their friends. Personally, I find that as long as I don't get bulky it really helps with my MA(and my self image, I admit). Obviously fb players need to be strong to be competetive. But weight room strength doesn't always equal functional strength, but it probably helps.

reggie bush claims a 450 bench and he only did 225 for 24 reps

wouldn't somebody that can do 450 be able to do more?

No not necessarly....there is a big difference between "muscular strength" and "muscular endurance".

He would actually need running endurance, and explosion off the line, which is a little different. However, if Houston really only gives him the 15 touches they are talking about giving him, who knows how much he'll need at all.

Off topic but...

LMAO at the Texans only giving Bush 15 TOUCHES a game...?  He should get at LEAST that many runs and damn near that many passes

agreed. He is a total freak of nature. quickness, strength, speed, and elusiveness. I do get the impression that The Texans took him mainly to put asses in the seats, however. But, If he does pan out as a player, he is going to be one the great ones, for sure.

Relating to Bush playing for the Saints, I just read that Deuce Mccallister became a reserve police officer over here in Pontiac, Michigan. Maybe he is loooking for a backup job now that Bush is going to steal his position?

The Saints have to trade him ASAP before he rotts on the bench and loses value...Deuce playing backup to Kevin Jones in Detroit?  He would start IMO.

never heard about Deuce signing with the lions. He just joined the reserve police(pontiac) force cuz his cousin is an officer.

Dear Friends
Kind regards

I would much prefer to fight a guy who benches 600lbs then a guy who can do 225 for 40+ reps.
The 1st guy would throw to power punches and have nothing left.
The 2nd guy would keep pounding your face with 225lbs power all day
Yours thankfully
John

reggie bush couldnt squat or deadlift 450, let alone bench.  what the players do is something for like 3 or 6 times and then the strength coaches grossly overexagerate what they could do for a max.

like if you can do 295 for 3, then the coaches would say you can do 365.  surrreee.

i doubt larry allen could bench 635.  how many pro bbers and pwlers, who do nothing but lift can do that raw, and some old football player (a great one, who will be a 1st ballot hall of famer) can do that? doubt it.

yeah but all it takes is that one punch from the 600lb. bencher to literally kill you if placed correctly, i had a friend who benched 640 in a meet who used to beat on people for fun and trust me it wasn't pretty.
