No pic posting frenzy on my end - first of all MrIntenseOne, if I rubbed you the wrong way 15 years ago when I was 21 and very immature, my apologies.

Astro Gym was called Gold's by the time I got to LA in 1991, the one on San Gabriel Boulevard. I probably trained there five or six times. I lived in nearby Rosemead and my membership was actually at Gold's in Venice. I used to drive out there or to the one in Fullerton (now Milos's gym), but every so often if I was pressed for time I would go to San Gabriel.

At age 21 I doubt my arms were probably about 16 1/2 inches. I was drug-free for life at that point and would remain so for almost seven more years.

My arms are 18 cold now, nothing to brag about, but I have been clean for a while and plan on staying that way until a day comes when my body stops producing normal amounts of testosterone.

I have put on about 40 pounds of muscle in the last 15 years and had put on about 60 in the 6-7 years before that. Anyone's arms would get at least a little better gaining that much more size.

Believe me, I wish my arms were better. I have seen guys shooting hoops down on Venice Beach with 18-inch ripped arms, and I doubt they have ever touched a weight. If they did, BOOM! 20 inches in a few months. A couple years and some gear later, and BOOM! Those are the guys with the 22-23-inch guns.

Troy Alves had 18-inch arms when he only weighed 150 pounds.

Your honesty is refreshing! I remember reading in arnold's encyclopedia that in each gym a bodybuilder trained the members had similar strong points and weaknesses examble Steve Reeves had great shoulders and all the members at his gym tryed to keep up with him bye making their own strides in shoulder size. Now what I am getting at is do you train at Milos' gym?

It's no secret that generally speaking, black men have better genetics for building muscle mass. There are exceptions to every rule. I have also known white guys that were beefy and muscular yet never touched a weight, and there are a few black guys that have trouble gaining muscle and/or losing fat.

But some generalizations are based in fact. You don't see a lot of black bodybuilders with bad arms, and you don't see many with great calves either. My calves are 18 inches and honestly, I haven't had to train them all that hard. There were times when weeks would go by where I would forget to train them.

I haven't lived in California since October of 2000. I train at a Gold's in the Boston area, nothing special about it at all. Best gym I ever belonged to was World in Pasadena, now a Gold's. You have seen it in many of the MuscleTech ads. Huge place with tons of awesome equipment, high ceilings with skylights, even an outdoor workout area with tons of free weights, Hammer machines, and a cable station. That place kicked ass.

I do have a question though...Why is it on MM that threads talking about synthol are not allowed????I mean really---Your buddy Blaze has some of the worst set of arms because of oil yet no one can talk about it.....

On almost every other board, it would not be tolerated to post pictures of yourself with 24' arms on a 190 pound frame and not get scolled for it EVERY SINGLE TIME....Why should he be taken seriously...Even though he has competed for some time....Some where in the past he made the decision to destroy himself in one of the most delusional ways that is close to Mr. exploding arms himself...

If people can talk about Greg, why is this Blaze dude so off limits...He does seem like a really good guy but that doesn't take away from what he did to himself..

What a crock of shit. Most of the mass monsters are white. Also, nobody can build 20" arms after a few months of training. It takes years and years of work to get that big.

Oh, and I've never seen a 150 lb guy with 18" arms. Unless he's around 5'2", that's pretty much impossible. I can't believe that someone who gets paid to write about bodybuilding would know so little about it.

I think it's because Gerry has been on the New England bb scene a very long time and has helped dozens of guys out with their training and nutrition, often free of charge. When I first saw him, it was the 2001 NPC New England where he won the LH and Overall. His arms were just starting to look suspicious then, so the majority of what he did must have been after that. I have met him a few times and he really is a good guy. Do I think his arms look stupid? Absolutely. And I have told him that I do believe that should be penalized. The NPC made a statement about Synthol at least 6-7 years ago, saying it would not be tolerated. And it's too bad, because the rest of Gerry looks pretty damn good, and he diets his ass off to get into excellent condition every time.

Come on now, if anyone ever had a justification to use Synthol in the arms, it's me, but I just wouldn't do it. Gear is one thing, but at least with gear you still have to train and eat for the muscle, you don't just get it instantly out of a syringe.

Those were Troy's words about having 18-inch arms at such a light weight, not mine. I take people at their word when I interview them unless it's something totally ludicrous.

And yes, most mass monsters are white. White guys also tend to get huge guts and asses when they surpass 250 pounds ripped. You don't have many huge white guys with small waists and nice tapers. And I also think the reason there are so many more white mass monsters is entirely financial. They have more money to buy tons of steroids and GH than the average black bodybuilder.

Measurements aren't as important as you think. I doubt Shawn Ray's arms were ever more than 19 inches, but they looked enormous on his frame - being 5-6 or so.

I don't even have a problem with synthol if its used sparingly for a contest...But when you have 23 to 25 inch arms on a middle weight to light heavy weight frame, it just shows one's mental disorder...

I am sure that there are some pro's that have used Synthol a lot more sparingly so it's not obvious at all. I still have a problem with that, but at least it's not as offensive as the guys that go nuts so that their arms are lumpy and distorted in shape.
