bantam weights
« on: June 21, 2006, 07:59:38 PM »
is there seriously a need for this class?      how about a new weight class in the upper range  like 180 to 195 195 to 210   210 to 230   230 and up

they add a welter weight      which i completely miss the point of   esp if its not a weight class on the local level

For most NPC events, the weight classes are the following:

Bantamweight - up to 145 1/4
Lightweight - over 145 1/4 to 154 1/4
Welterweight - over 154 1/4 to 165 1/4
Middleweight - over 165 1/4 to 176 1/4
Light heavy wt - 176 1/4 to 198 lbs
Heavy weight - over 198 to 225
Super heavyweight - over 225

which makes a lot more sense if you convert to metric:

Bantamweight - up to 65 kg
Lightweight - 65 - 70 kg
Welterweight - 70 - 75 kg
Middleweight - 75 - 80 kg
Light heavy wt - 80 - 90 kg
Heavy weight - 90 - 102 kg
Super heavyweight - over 102 kg

in international events, they often have a middle and light-middle

there are almost always a few people in the bantamweight class, at least in certain parts of the country

and if you look at the natural contests, there's rarely ever anyone in the super heavyweight class

you half saw my point       need more middle of the road classes and less classes on the end

need to split the bottom of the midlle's to the top of the heavies into 4 classes instead of three    thats  all point really was

although i still see no point for bantam's and i hought bantam's were 137 and under

 sorry i retarded

I was still editing when you followed up.  Yes I agree the heavy and lights are 10 kilos wide while all the others are only 5.    In the US, the light-heavies seem to be the most crowded class, followed by the heavies, so it would make sense to make those 5 kg wide classes.

but rather than coming up with names, such as light-middle, just do what they do in international events, and go by kilograms
