Thats what seperated him from the rest , especially in Venice . he said when he trained stateside he noticed that guys on the East coast were more hardcore than the West . he said the firts time he went to Venice he was taken back , he thought at Golds he was going to see all these insane work outs he couldn't believe his eyes just how lazy these guys were and he made a mental note that all these guy were gonna pay for their laziness and they did .

It's also what separated his bicep, tricep and quad from their tendons.

His workout intensity wasn't a problem without the addition of HIT and low sets, high weight.

My real answer would be his training style had nothing to do with all the tears, it was genetics. Half the people on this board are on gear and train fvcking hard, but they don't fall apart.

Too right, I think he represented us Brits in very cool way. Very down to earth yet clearly awesome enough to back up his statements with results. Definitely a better speaker than Coleman.

Unfortunately lots of the American BBs like Lavrone seem self-absorbed knuckleheads while the Euros appear more grounded and actually more articulate even speaking english.

Combo of true HIT (intensity + low sets) & genetics. Not one without the others.

He should've had his shirt off for the interview, he was at his prime and in contest shape. It would've been great to see how he looked relaxed, instead of posing all the time. But of course Dorian didn't like to show off, he thought it was too stereotypical of bodybuilders to walk around in tank tops but that's what people want to see.

Coming from NY I understand this and it's true.  Dorian was over at Bev's a lot and believe it or not guys actually do real free weights squats over there, haha...Golds Venice the leg extension will wear out before you see many guys squatting.

you have no idea what you are talking about. All of Yates' tears were on low calories and low carbs coming up into a contest. He trained harder, more intense, and heavier than anyone of his era did precontest (just like Coleman did). He pushed well beyond failure when he shouldn't have becuase in all honesty in really wouldn't make that much of a difference. If you see footage of Shawn Ray pre-contest all he talks about is "working the muscle", not going heavy and shit like that. Well, that's what separates olympians from runner-ups.

Pobricito....the sloppiest pulldowns I EVER seen performed from anyone that had experience were done by Shawn Ray....Lol...probably around 91-2...Obviously it didn't matter much because he is one of the greatest BB's EVER.

that's another reason Yates had more issues...he trained so strict that there was no give or take....no added momentum or anything to take the stress off the muscle....but that's how he won 6 O's

if i was competing against him and saw him walk in (dressed)with his face that sucked in. i'd start praying for second place. you can knock him for the bicep maybe for a little distention but his condition (and size) was just unreal.

I've never seen anyone train hard in England either and I trained in several gyms all over London and Nottingham for many years.
How demanding is it to train hard anyway? Bodybuilding isn't really a strenuous pastime especially if you are on steroids and use a sloppy technique with long rest intervals.
