Whatever your dreams are, yes. If bodybuilding/fitness is your life, then you'd want to get the most out of it. Dieing at 60 can see you married, have kids grown into their 20s, see a successful business/career and with not much left to do with life but, provided you're living comfortably, sit back and enjoy what's there for a year or two. I respect the hell out of people past 65 that still live happily and do what they can, but I'm just saying I feel it's better to live life to the max in every way rather than compromise (e.g. staying natural - getting 1% of results you would on roids.)
What natural BBer would say they'd rather be 'this' size than what they could be with drugs? We all aspire to be the best we can, and the BBers usually don't have any limitations as of size, it's just they plataeu without drugs, and lump it. Now, I'm natural, but simply considering the alternatives. I haven't reached my potential yet, so I don't know how big I can be without drugs. When it comes to that stage, then I'll be in a better position to decide. Seriously, though, the natural competition seems pretty weak right now. I would of thought it'd be alot better.
Well, if you think about it, competative BB'ing is really a big waste of time, unless you've got the genetic potential to gain high accord without hormonal support. ie. Coleman, Ray, Darrem Charles, and so on. Even for them, look where its gotten them...
I used to kind of have the same thoughts you did, but after seeing time and time again 60+ year olds with plenty of life left in them mainly because THEY TOOK CARE OF THEIR HEALTH DURING THEIR LIVES, going about daily business and many passing for still being in their fourties. Not all of em are walking around with colostomy bags, neural disorders, circulation problems you know. I guess working in the health industry, I see a fractional margin of these folks, so of course my POV is a bit representative of a small percentage. Im just saying its possible to be 60+, running a successful business, going for jogs with your dog, getting a lift in, and at the end of the day, bangin your wife with the same vigor as in your thirties is totally doable... i know this because i see it everyday at work.
