^ Look at those waists. Tiny! I think the mid-to-late 90's were some of the best physiques on the Olympia stage. Nasser, Shawn, Ronnie, Flex, Kev, Dorian, Cormier, etc etc.

I think we could see a similar lineup at the O. if Heath brings his winning Colorado/New York Pro physique with a little more mass, Jay remains in top form, Victor loses the synthol and comes in his 2001 condition with a bit more mass, and Gustavo and Gunter come in top shape.

Personally, I would like to see a truly top form Dennis, since I think he has everything to make it big.

will we ever see this kind of line up again?

classic shot.

on that pic I think Flex has the best FDB, just the way he's hitting the shot, it's almost textbook perfect.  I'm not talking about hardness and all that other stuff just the sheer execution of the pose, that's what a FDB should look like.

^ I say it's close to textbook, but Ronnie's is closer. Textbook is legs close, feet pointing outward and all the rest which are done well. Flex's legs stray a bit, more of a Frank Zane style which looks awesome on Flex.

I was always under the assumption that either way was acceptable, I think flex's is more dramatic, I also think he's doing alot of little things to make the shot better, holding down the shoulder girdle, elbows forward, etc.  I never liked the way Ron hit that pose.

You're kidding right? That pic there is of Oliva in his comeback when he was in his 40's. He had thighs when in his peak.

Look at the size of his waist compared to his thigh:

Thanks Don, you beat me to it!

Isn't it amazing? Sergio supposedly lost to Arnold but of all the pros from the 1960's and 1970's only Sergio could stand onstage today and have the potential to win. Arnold just didn't have the legs to compete today, but Sergio had everything. (Sure he'd need to be more cut, but that's just getting better nutrition before a contest, not building bigger quads/hams)

had arnold continued he would have gotten the legs. in 74 he was huge. in 75 he only competed because of pumping iron.

Both Ronnie and Lee haney have always hit the double bi with their arms slightly off being parallel with the floor, held on a slight angle.

this is to showcase their incredible lats.

ronnie's arms at his peak were unbelievable from the front :o

Hulkster, Im glad you brought that up. IMO it also makes their arms look weak. If you look at Frank McGrath, and Sergio, they both kept their arms totally parallel to the ground. Very few bbers do this today. It makes their arms look even more impressive. I guess it helps to have massive full muscle bells and low insertion points

In Lee's first DVD he talked about wanting to be a freak and compete at 230 or more. He's changed his mind. I remember seeing Lee at 220 something on stage and he still had a real tight midsection. something he's never had is distension or gut. even when his conditioning wasn't the best his gut was never big. i think it would be cool to see him at that weight on stage again.
