Toen pec using 315 on a Smith machine...

Toney Freeman said on the radio show tonight that he tore his pec using 315 on the smith machine.

He was doing Dorian's super intense routine at the time.  And he blamed the smith for being faulty.

1) What is this Yates chest routine which destroys mortal pros?

2) has anyone ever seen a broken smith machine cause an injury?

I tore my pec on an incline smith and I was only using 280lbs IIRC (max on flat 500 or so at the time). I was going to neck level and there was a tremendous stretch and tremendous tension on the tendon.

ANY machine that DOES NOT involve your stabilizers can eventually cause injury, if he knew from the beginning of his sets that the machine was faulty, he shouldn't have been using it, if that's the case then it's his fault!

I tore it using 405lbs. I found out the machine was faulty a few years later after revisiting that gym. I don't need any pity i'm a big boy hell now i'm a real big boy so i'll be just fine. even with 3/4 of a pec at 6'2 300+lbs with a 31-32in waist i'm going to be in the mix real good!!! peace

You need to come more shredded next time.  I could have seen quincy taking it based on the fact he was harder than you.     
I started my diet Aug 1st. I plan on peaking Sept 29th. It takes more than hardness to be successful in this sport. I was plenty hard for a little over four weeks of dieting and almost 290lbs. So BTFU and think about that for a minute. You need to start coming to the show rather than looking at pictures to make assessments. What weight do you plan to be at the O? Coleman and Cutler compete at the weight you did at this show.
If you plan on getting lower you gonna have a hard time placing well,dont you think so?

There is actually no such thing as "stabilizer" muscles.  Just another large MYTH.

There is no such thing as taking out stabilizer muscles and there is no such thing as stabilizer muscles.  Can you name the "Stabilizer" muscles?   Nobody can.

A machine can be as good as any free weight if you know what you are doing.  The trick is to use all forms of resistance. Machines,Dumbells and Barbells.  One is not necessairly better than the other if you are taking sets to failure.

But some muscles are often classified as stabilizers if they are secondary groups whose function is removed when a motion is done on a machine and not a free weight, yet the motion is the same.
