once you expend more calories than you take in you will lose weight.
The only thing of interest is the quality of calories! sodium, cholesterol et all that have other side health ramifications than just losing weight. That is why you can have a skinny person with high blood person or high cholesterol level or clogged arteries.
most American focus on losing weigh through starvation and not through execerise which I think is TA's point. But I let him speak for himself.
