actually there are a lot of people OUTSIDE of fans / people who read his column that know who he is. even if not by name they know him, seen him, heard of him etc. more people BESIDE fans or people that are into bb'n know him as opposed to shawn ray, dennis james, lee priest, bob chic or even coleman etc. he is more popular in mainstream society than any or all "bb'rs" (exception of arnold) even is they don't know his name. ( not knock'n anyone ) so...say what you want but... test it, ask around, has any seen, or heard of the freak with the arms or the guy on the documentary , the guy whose arms exploded or whatever. count the # lets say 20 random people, now ask those same people if they ever seen or heard of the "blonde myth" or bob chicerello. Case closed!
Bob won't have valentino on for the same reason he'd never put 240 on. Whatever the cost of entertainment he won't endorse people he wants to feel superior than. Bob has a very healthy ego, you can be sure of that. You can tell when he espouses peanut gallery comments and calls bodybuilding a "sport" on the radio that he takes himself veryy seriously.
His justifications of Valentino are somewhat okay but we all know that Valentino is at competitions, writes a column in MD and is around the industry. He's also a good shit talker. Bob knows that people would listen to a show with Valentino but Bob doesn't like him.
Can't say I'd be any different, but I think the justifications are somewhat silly. There are lots of people on this site who could make interesting guests and make decent comments and they might have nothing to do with bodybuilding in a professional sense. Obviously you're not going to be struggling for topics when you've got someone like Valentino on.
Shit, you could rehash the synthol accusations and people would listen. Beats the hell out listening to far from charismatic droning pro's (thats not saying anything about intellect, just many pro's are fairly simple men).
