It was a great show, lots of people in, no less than 1,300 and some missing. Three overall: you, "big mouth" Shawn and the athletes' rep wannabe.
Big Steve Weinsberger showed up just to realize that there is a better show in NYC than the one he is pretending to run.
I guess you remember you own me a diner.
I hope I'll see you in London at the next PDI show on Oct 22.

Horton to trying to figure out how to admit he was wrong.  His alllegience to the IFBB and all the ragging on the PDI and NOC have been shot down.  He'll come on here now and say how just one show doesn't prove anything.  Doubt if he'll own up and say good job.  If he does then he a good man.  Hope he doesn't come on here trying to play down the success of the show

Why do you consider it a failure?

By most accounts, they had 1300 to 1400 of the 1500 seats filled.  Everyone got their prize money.  They got a lot of coverage on the message boards.  No sound problems, no logistics failures the night of the show. 

I would think a failure would be 60 people in a high school auditorium with monster sound problems.  Like we saw at, heck, a lot of other shows this year

yep i agree, if anyone tries to engage him in some kind of argument he just shuts up straight away because he hasnt got the intelligence to debate anything. hes a poor mans vince goodrum, at least vince sometimes raises a smile with his posts.

I would agree, having a filled theatre would be a good thing, and DeMilia managed to fill up the theatre, it probably made the show a lot more fun for the BB's. Great move, some of these shows seems to have been lacking in the attendance, and empty seats are a bore.

Didn't know there was confirmation about prize money secured yet. What can you tell us about this?

Yes it sounds like it was a success and that proves people want to see another organization to rival the ifbb as it can only benefit the sport.Even if there were some tickets given away that doesnt matter as long as they sold the majority, i think its better to give away the remainder of the tickets anyway for a few reasons, 1, because which will make it a more exciting show 900 people in the audience or 1500 having a full venue raises the atmosphere, 2, because those peole you gave the tickets to will be more likely to come back next time or go to other pdi shows, and your not losing money on the free tickets because youve already paid for the venue anyway so id consider it a kind of long term advertising.

as long as they didnt lose vast amounts of money then i think it was a big success remember that the people behind the pdi want it to be a long term thing so even if it starts off slowly it can be built up over time, i think some people are looking too much into the short term when judging if its going to succeed or fail.

I think one problem with the long term may be gaining quality competitors. The telling issue on that may be the proq the night prior - only 14 competitors, for 8 cards, is not really promising for the future. It seems there is not much interest in the 'amatuer' ranks to go 'pro' in the PDI. A couple of classes they only had 2 people, so you got a 'pro card' merely by entering. We can say what we like, but apart from the top few, the level of physiques at the 'pro' show was nothing approaching IFBB, top national level NPC or top level NABBA. Ticket sales may have been okay, and the show well run - but sub standard physiques will not continue to sell tickets. I am interested to see how they will gain new quality competitors.

Yeah i see what your saying but youve got to give it time to expand this was only there first show remember, if it coninues to grow then there will be an alternative for bb's to compete in other than the ifbb so i can only see it getting better from here if they continue, we all knew it would be tough for them to start with.

And tbh if you go to most of the ifbb shows youll see physiques on those stages a lot worse or on par with the worst that was in the pdi. im not saying it was perfect but i can also see that it was there first show and i think they did ok and i hope they continue to grow and be a success.

Due to shooting in Texas I wasn't able to make the show.

Obviously I have to admit I was wrong, Wayne did get the show off the ground, so props for him for that, though I have to wonder what was going through his mind when he decided to have Sri Chinmpy there?

I liked 2 two things about the show:
1) the posing routines were more entertaining and longer
2) the competitors were selected from all over the world. The IFBB / NPC does not really care about talents from outside the USA. That's a big mistake. Over 95% of the world's population lives outside the USA.

Regarding Sry Chimnoy, he is a bodybuilding fan and, as you know, the NoC has always been a  show on its own and so: why not? Also, for the record, Sry came in with Bill Pearl that, you can't hide, is a bodybuilding icon. The Bill Pearl fan club bought hundreds of tickets so for promoting Demilia did a pretty good job.
Athletes are just fine with everything. I wonder if the IFBB promoters, just to mention a couple: big mouth Shawn and big Steve Weinsberger, covered most every pro athletes' room as Demilia did. Do you think the athletes' rep would be happy to know that athletes has been treated fairly and  no one complained, so far?
I spoke to Zoltan Voros after the event and the athletes will be paid after the test results come back.

Yes that is one thing that Wayne took care of the rooms and air for most of the contestants.  Sean offered to pay Nothing for his show and thats why some of them backed out as they stated. And Bill Pearl, I love Bill he is one of the greatest ambassadors of BB there is.  He is so nice.  I love seeing Bill. He always asks me about my leg and how I am doing. I wish I would have seen him.

Excellent observation, but I'm going to actually consider this a short-term (read: "immediate") concern.

Just so there's no mistake, I do want the PDI to grow and to become a legitimate professional bodybuilding organization.

But I'm not excited by the fact that there were only 14 men in the pro qualifier.  Although I don't know even a handful of the top amateurs on the east coast, I would've assumed that at least 20-25 would've shown up to compete in the qualifier. 

One thing we all know is that the PDI will not succeed if each show consists only of the same 15 guys.
