Larry did a seminar in my gym in Australia in 1979 and he also gave a posing routine at a competition in Sydney. I told him not to enter any more contests but he felt he wanted to have another go. After two poor placings he gave it away. There was no need for him to enter again. It was clear to me he was no longer competitive but he still had great arms. Larry isn't very wide and today he would be dwarfed by most of the current pros. However, he created a sensation when he won the first Mr Olympia in 1965. The fans stayed after the show and shouted, "Larry, Larry, Larry....!!!" No one since has had the crowd go nuts like they did that night. He was treated like a demigod that night.
