I see what you did there... and I can smile about it.  :)

Here's a trick question for all you Prince fans: what is his best album?  (Hint: it's not the one you're probably thinking of).  8)

Sign 'o' the times....Obviously

Never got the fascination with him. Maybe just not my style of music/voice. I honestly thought his voice was terrible when I first heard it. Wondered how it even made it to the radio. Don't come from that generation, though.

Go research the way in which he made his music....genius.

Am I thinking of someone else or did you say that you thought Michael Jackson was one of the greatest musical talents ever in another thread? There was sort of a rivalry between their fans and hardcore MJ fans tended to lean more towards a mainstream sound. The Purple Rain soundtrack is one of the only albums I've ever heard on which every single track should've been a hit. There was no b-side filler.

That being said, music is just a subjective thing. There are some "legendary" acts that I could never give a fuck about.

Hated his Batman-song, "Vicki Vale! Vicki Vale! THIS TOWN NEEDS AN ENEMA!" but loved Raspberry Beret back in the day.

Yes, that was me. Maybe it's the songs I've heard on the radio by him. I didn't like the beats but mainly I thought his voice was really, really bad. I'm a big voice guy so I guess my ears don't like that sound for whatever reason. Like with Celine Dion, I can acknowledge that she has an amazing voice but not really into her music. With Prince, I couldn't. Id actually liken him to Elton John to me. Average church choir singer voice to me and never got the hype.
Obviously, I'm in the minority it looks like.

Very sad... he was a genius, loved many of his songs and he's far from my generation. When the doves cry is amazing btw. That kind of artists are very rare now..

I believe he was a Jehovah's witness. Depending on how devout, it could have been a factor in his death.
