He looked horrible in 2016 and still placed well. Only 1 year has gone by.

sf do you think this is because "branch has paid his dues with the judges"  i mean he trains  in that shit hole gym that coelman used to go to , i am sure branch is no stranger to "taking one for the team"

OSF, I think everything you say is accurate. He clearly has paid his dues in more ways than one and this likely contributes to his gifted placings.
