They weighed in at 147lbs and will probably fight 5-10lbs heavier tomorrow night. Mayweather a way better technical fighter than Hatton and he'll probably dance around him to avoid a knockout like he did against Baldomir. Should be a decent fight nonetheless. Mayweather, the distance!

Who here would fight these guys? Personally I'm not scared of these MMA guys. As far as I'm concerned they are just normal people. When it comes to young fit/strong men fighting each other, I think mentality matters more than anything.

forget about mma guys step into a muay thai ring then move on to mma. you'll get bombarded with kicks punches and kness. you would not know what to do.
I'm serious when I first started out in muay thai and had a few sparring sessions I was fucked. Had alot to learn, once you know what you are doing it's easy.
Skill is very important. Even against the strongest guys. If you can land so many punches and kicks in a moments notice and still be able to get away as soon as possible. your good.
Even with boxing guys that would be very tough.

if you want to see meatheads fight a "regular guy" look up mark coleman or kevin randleman's fight with fedor, you'll see how TRAINED "meatheads" do against a seemingly "regular guy"

another thing if you're just a stand up guy (muay thai, boxing) or no training at all and a fight goes to the ground. It's better to have a ground game like BJJ so you know how to pop his arm out of his socket or his leg end it as soon as possible and get away if you have no other choice.

Do you think boxers dont get sucker punched or hit in the groin. Boxing is a dirty game, Ears get bitten off, Nuts get smashed, kidneys damaged for life and people die. PRIDE veteran Aleksander Emelianenko got into a bar fight in Moscow last night. According to ValeTudo.ru, Aleksander was in the company of two female companions last night when a group of intoxicated men at a nearby table began to get loud and rowdy. The table of drunk men then proceeded to direct some “inappropriate” remarks at Aleksander’s female cohorts. Aleksander, being the great man that he is, decided to stand up for the two ladies. He approached the table of hoodlums and shortly after, a fight erupted. Several chairs were thrown, and almost immediately the thugs realized they picked a fight with the wrong guy. Before long the hoodlums were screaming and crying for help.
At this point, security officials rushed to scene and handcuffed Aleksander, mistaking him for the culprit. While detained, Aleksander gave his account of the story at which point in time the officials realized that they had taken the wrong guy. After 20 minutes of being held captive, Aleksander Emelianenko was released and even offered to be escorted back to his hotel to which the gentle giant refused.

E - I almost get this impression that you think strength doesn't matter. Muscle SIZE obviously isn't helpful in a fight, but sheer brute strength and good cardio is very helpful. Also, he is not just some internet tough guy, but someone who has worked in security for years and gotten into many bar fights and had serious strength (405 for 17 for deadlift).
For years I thought that karate was a useful skill until I found it was literally the least successful skill in the UFC and that grapplers had the greatest success.
Put another way: if both parties have equal skill, the stronger one will win, if both are equally strong, the more skilled one will win. If one is skilled, but the other is strong and in great shape, then it's not so simple to determine who will win. Lots of people have fighting skills but are fat or otherwise out of shape and almost useless because of that (I'm not saying the average MMA guy falls into this category).

It all starts with conditioning, try holding your arms up, fist at cheeckbones, elbows in, then throw punches just in to air, youll see how unnatural it feels and how quickly youll get gassed out if you havnt put in any roadwork/skipping etc.Average Joe would throw 2 punches in a bar fight and be gassed out.

This is true. But reading on this forums, these guys are bigged up as if they are gods or something, and think that psychology plays a huge role. That's my main point with my initial thread: guys fear these MMA guys and would be beaten before ever fighting them. There's no reason to be afraid of these guys because fear does nothing to help you.

You obviously dont follow boxing, many times fighters get hit in the groin and the fight doesn't get stopped, when hatton fought Kosta this happened several times, I ahve been hit in the groin during a fight and just kept fighting, personally being hit in the stomach with a good blow is harder to recover from than a hit to the groin. I have been hit on the chin from behind several times and was never knocked out, all I felt was a small sting. You sound like the typical ignorant idiot who has never had a fight. And who's talking about the UFC, we are talking about real fighting, Boxing. And you wouldn't need to worry about being seen in public with me, I don't hang around with girlie men who cant fight.

For the most part yes, but there is a guy I know who has knocked out over 200 people and if you asked me if he would win in a fight with these guys I couldn't definitively say he wouldn't. I could see him beating them. He was a champion wrestler in high school, but mostly just a brawler.

Fear keeps you alive, if you are feeling fear, it means you are not ready, the spirit knows what it is capable of, even if the mind cannot admit it. Other men fear these fighters for good reason. Fear serves a great purpose, and a good fighter pays attention to it and trains accordingly, if he trains hard enough, the fear will leave.

We dont have ghettos here in Australia. Of course you can use more than your hands in a fight, but good fighters use there hands more often for offensive moves. I am not saying getting hit in the groin is easy, all I am saying it doesn't mean it is the end of the fight. Thanks for the personal insults, it gives me a good insight into how tough you are.

I am not into fighting, just beacuse I said I have had a few fights doesn't mean I am into fighting. I am 34 and haven't had a fight for over ten years. The weakling comment was just a flippant remark, I didn't think it would hurt your feelings so much and you would begin to melt down.

Yep. As much as I hate him, I gotta admit that Mayweather was on point and was by far the better of the two. Hatton didn't disgrac himself though and would probably beat just bout every other fighter in that weight class other than Mayweather. And that includes De La Hoya when he fights him at Wembley next year.
As for Mayweather, he's got nothing left to prove now and should retire.

For the most part yes, but there is a guy I know who has knocked out over 200 people and if you asked me if he would win in a fight with these guys I couldn't definitively say he wouldn't. I could see him beating them. He was a champion wrestler in high school, but mostly just a brawler.

I met Harrison a few times down at Frank Connor's gym a number of years back.
My first shit was bigger than him.
Technically he was a very good boxer but that's about the only good thing you can say about the guy.

Mayweather pretty muched owned hatton, it was sad. I watched a bunch of HBO's 24/7 shows on the two of them, and was really hoping hatton could pull out a win. Watching those shows was fricken crazy, mayweather is an unbelievable skilled athlete, I just with he would tone down the attitude.

Totally agree with you mate plus of course he ruined the fight.
It was not a classic fight by any stretch of the imagination. Mayweather has always had great spoiling tactics and with a referee like Cortez the fight was always going to be a nightmare for Ricky. I still believe Hatton could have taken it to the wire but after Cortez deducted a point the writing was on the wall. Especially since Hatton had to change his style and take a few more chances. The first knockdown by Mayweather was a peach of a punch but Hatton did run into it.
Don't get me wrong I think that Hatton only had small chance of winning but that points deduction was the catalyst for the knockout.
