Title: How to judge calves in bodybuilding contests.
Post by: Vince B on September 04, 2007, 10:43:12 PM
I really am disappointed at the judging standard at most professional bodybuilding contests. As a public service to these hapless judges I present some evidence of what to look for when judging the calves of competitors. If some are lacking in this area they do not deserve to win or place high because they are lacking a body part.

It is possible to be lean and have huge calves. Competitors with suspicious calves or ones that do not show cuts should be judged down.

Calves are for Asians, fate people and Hobbits.

True warriors have functional calves.

Nobody gives a shit the chubby lower leg look. Unless you're a prego full for water retention.

a great pair of calves is most impressive.

maybe u have bad genetics on calves and are pissed off (i would understand if thats the case)...but i disagree, calves are very important.

the sad part is that some genetically can have better calves without even working them out.

but if a person hits them with very heavy weight they can always get there.

Why is it impressive?

A big ripped well developed calf muscle looks sick.

gives a physique a rugged powerful look.

Have you seen what a low attachment looks like a short legged 5'6" offseason slightly chubby frame?

Makes your local skirt wearing fatty girl look like Jessica Rabbit.

Vince, a body part is a body part. The way you tell it is that calves should be the determining factor when first place is awarded, and this, my crusty old friend is wrong. While I'm at it, I'm gonna tell it like it is.............calves are a MINOR body part, and if a dude has a fabulous physique, with mediocre calves, he should still win, unless another dude can match him in every area, and has better calves, but the examples that you elude to are not the case.

When you think about it bro, focusing on a man's calves/hams/glutes and make a thread about it is pretty gay...

Not really the hams and calves, but the glutes yes. I'm a big bodybuilding fan, so im not saying shit or trying to make some old joke about it, but the whole hitching up the trunks to show off those striated glutes has gotta stop.

Oh yea, another pet peeve of mine.

When a bodybuilding contest is solely judged on how tightly shredded a mans ass is, I will fuckin shoot myself in the head.......

i hate when i read these queer reviews of bb shows and all they talk about is how " insert name here" glutes werent striated.......

Who gives a fuck how tight another mans ass is, what does that have to do w/symmetry and asthetics??

Exactly.
If a bodybuilder can get striated glutes, then good on him i guess, but there is no need to hitch up the posing trunks. We can see enough of the glutes (from a judging perspective) with the trunks worn the proper way, so the guys have to literally stop taking it so far.
