Thanks for the love guys! I will be checking in and out here from timt to time however, I do have a 2 year old at home so most of my posting will be late night or early morning. That said, I will be trying to answer All questions within reason, I'm not Dr. Phil but in the BBing industry I am a Certified Specialist regarding the SPORT or Pro BBing.
Get Big crew sports some great people, sadly the board is not moderated properly and regulary enough to keep discussion on the sport. I loved it there in the beginning but like all things, it grew and riff raff filtered in and my posting became less and less. Shawn's being a traitor IMO. News flash. Getbig--and not MD--is the heart and soul of the internet bodybuilding world. This place thrives in part because you have freedom of speech (within reason). If the folks at MD took that concept to heart, they might have more than 20 regular posters. ;)

It's obvious that Shawn has always been a Weider/IFBB guy, and I'm sure that MD wasn't his first (or even second) choice. If he's been forced to go slumming to them for a job, it's pretty clear that the establishment has washed their hands of him anyway. From Shawn's perspective, working for MD is probably like having to work at Burger King to make rent.

Some of you actually think that Shawn Ray has represented some value to getbig. For me, looking back I can't remember when Shawn was actually informative.
From day one Shawns only response to information asked for was "buy my book/video". Its pretty bizarre to look back in his posting history as you will not find anything but him promoting the colorado pro and gloating over the Titus fall.

Ok, for one, Shawn won't bash Getbig. So lets leave it a lone. And lets go over the facts.
Shawn's Musclemag deal is ending October 31st. Most likely, he learned they are not going to renew. Weider, whom Shawn was with a long time, decided not to give him another contract.
Not too many other magazine's out there offering deals.
So Shawn went to MD, negotiated and made a deal.
Part of the deal, in the contract, is that Shawn won't post on Getbig.
Simple as that.
Instead of working with the bodybuilding community, MD's wording doesn't want that.
End of story.
You can blame Shawn for it, but he chose to do that deal, and it is spelled out in there, and that is that.
I had lunch with Shawn on Saturday. I asked him a lot of question. I will post some later on on what he said. And in the future, will have more lunches with Shawn. I have known him for 12+ years. Business is business, but at various show and places, we will stay talk, eat, etc.

Many on here did loathe Sean, but at the same time, he did have his band of loyal followers.
Sean had the ability to ignite the boards. He could send this place into meltdown with just a few strokes of the keyboard.
In my opinion, that is what made Sean a valued contributor to Getbig....Maybe not the most liked contributor, but a valid one.
Sean is now approaching yet another exciting phase in his life. One thing is for sure, he will continue to get people talking about this so-called sport...and that can only be a good thing!

I think many bodybuilders get dumped...I dont believe it was anything that Shawn did but it was because of who was the next big up and coming thing.... Bodybuilders are used for a purpose...to sell supplements and mags and its almost exactly like the modeling industry...who is hot and who is not....
Example..remember Matarrazzo? He used to be in a lot of Flex and Muscle and Fitness Mags but when he got into a medical condition, he was dropped, just like that....
Also, do you remember Labrada used to be highly publicized in Flex and Muscle and Fitness? But then again, when he started getting sponsorship from Met-rx, the spotlight was dropping...Bob Paris used to be spotlighted a lot,

Two years ago, Shawn went to work for Vyotech, and still does. He didn't want to be exclusive to any magazine then. Last year, he signed a one year deal with Musclemag Magazine. And now, he is with MD.

Getbig was mentioned at this year's Olympia by Ben Weider not because of Shawn's posts but because Ron Avidan is a super fan of bodybuilding and created a site that helped bodybuilders. You know the site which you took full advantage of to promote yourself, your show, products and golf tournament. Only to leave when the almighty dollar took you to a place you consistently bashed.
