Title: I finally did a show (A natural show)
Post by: Jerryme7 on November 09, 2007, 11:58:08 AM
www.photoreflect.com/pr3/OrderPage.aspx?pi=01RS00830A0309&po=309 (http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/OrderPage.aspx?pi=01RS00830A0309&po=309)

In the link, I am on your far left...the second tallest guy on the stage. I did alright for it being my first contest. If you turn to different pages, I am in a lot of those pics. I am in the men's novice class and Men's light heavy weight class. So I ended up doing 2 classes for this particular show.

It was a great experience. I was nervous as hell getting up on that stage almost nude.

The amount of sacrifice, hours you put in the gym, the dehydration, the blood, sweat, and tears, and moods you go through while dieting is some experience.

This chapter in my life made me appreciate as well as empathize what the amatuers/pros go through while competing and dieting. It also taught me what I need to make major improvements on to better myself...legs, chest, calves, abs....

You guys have my utmost respect....Blockhead, Mike Arvilla, 2powerful4u, ect....

Attached is a picture where I am a week behind my contests date where I havent yet carb/sodium depleted....

For those of you on here thinking about doing a show, I say do it! Its an incredible experience.

Support your local shows and support the sport....

Hey, you look pretty good there, Jerry. Didn't embarrass yourself at all, if that's what's bothering you. Now that you've done a show, don't go and get all philosophical on us and lose your sense of humour or anything.

Mars....I did no anabolics preparing for this contest.

As for duiretics...the only duiretics I used were natural duiretics such as asparagus and I also used a legal duiretic made by MRM called H2O Lean

Van_Bilderass : No....no pro hormones....I did use Venom from ALRI for my fat burner. Optimum Nutrition whey, Multi-vitamins, fish oil capsules, Vitamin C and Isopure zero carb whey isolate.

I ate alot of solid food to include lean steak/ground beef, chicken breast, orange roughy, tilapia, turkey breast, brocolli, green beans, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, brown rice, Hawaiian sweet bread for carb loading, snickers, oatmeal pies

For the overweight people..there is hope ;)

I just checked out the before and after pics of me preparing for this contest! Man, in my mind back then, I didnt think I was fat at all but that picture doesnt lie! I must have been very delusional thinking I was in great shape back then!! LOL

I hired some great dieticians/nutritionists who have competed in figure/bodybuilding shows who put me on a plan!! It really transformed me! I also had an amazing training partner as well! Thank you Sean!!!

I started the plan sometime in August at a bodyweight of 259 pounds and and then competed on Nov 3rd at 192 pounds so it was an incredible transformation! And for you non believers, I did this all without clen or any anabolics. I know many of you are going to doubt me when I say this. I did take fat burners such as venom and I did do a lot of cardio. **Diet and training are the keys!

It wasnt easy but I did it....

If you were to tell me months ago that I would have been contest ready in a matter of weeks and showed me before and after pictures of the person I would become, I would have thought you were insane. But Im living proof that this is real.

I have to say that Mike Arvilla started this spark in me when I saw his transformation! He and someone else inspired me to do this! Thank you Mike Arvilla!

I know Im going to get ripped apart for posting up my before and after pics but I just want to show that if there is a will, there is a way and that there is hope for anyone who wants to better themselves. Hopefully it will inspire Ron or anyone else to get in better shape and then one day compete!

anybody who tries to is obviously jealous bro. This is the level of accomplishment that reaches the outchable.

More inspiring than in Predator when the Alien says "Who the hell are you" while looking at Arnold sporting a bow and covered in clay  ;D

Good for you.

If anybody is on here clowning you it's because they are trying to get the smartass award.

You did an awesome job Jerry.  That is so inspirational.  I'm not gonna miss my morning workout tomorrow morning.  When I see pics of other people who have worked hard it lights a fire underneath my ass.

They had me doing the step mill or the treadmill with high incline....it was mainly to get my heart rate up. They started me out at 30 minutes cardio to 45 minutes then as contest date approached 1 hour of cardio. Started out at 5 days a week then eventually led to 7 days a week.

They monitored my diet and saw me weekly.  There plan isnt supposed to have any cheat meals but there were times when I did fail and did end up cheating. It was then when they would see me and evauate me and know that somehow I was fucking up on the diet. So they would revamp the plan and change what I should be eating. Like they would change what kind of carbs I should b eating or increasing my cardio or my portion sizes for my meals...I think it was all down to a science. It did help that they were seeing me once a week to evaluate me....

I did cheat... Example...Olympia weekend went to a buffet. But the weird part was, my metabolism already kick started and the diet plan they had me on was clean food all the way so when I did cheat, my body utilized whatever I ate...I cant really begin to explain it..Im not a nutritionist.

But I am so glad I did this....

Oh yeah...someone please explain this to me....

At the show I weighed in at 192 pounds...I was dehydrated....

After the show.... pigged out at cheesecake factory and this whole week Ive been pigging out on everything that I want to eat. Everything flattenned out...no more cuts, I am bloated as hell. My abs are gone, striations are gone, my ankles have swelled up and legs look freakin waterlogged and huge....

Its just been a week out of my contest...tomorrow will be a week. I weighed myself and I am 240 fuckin pounds now! Is it just the sodium, water?  it cant be fat because how can someone put fat on in a week?

People warned me about this but what the fuck!!! How can I gain almost 50 pounds in a week?!!!! I hope this isnt permanant!!!

don't pig out too much . . . you're body will try to hang on to everything if it's been "starved" for a while.

The sodium and even the sugar will make you hold water, but 50lbs is extreme.

It's normal. I've had similar gains in about 9 days. almost 20lb is just water...

all water bro, just watch the sodium. Drink lots of water, its a natrual diuretic. You dont want your blood pressure getting too high with all that xtra fluid in your body.

But great transformation bro. I dont know if you've said this or not, but how did u do in the contest???

That's an incredible transformation. Especially encouraging to see what can happen in just a few months.

Some binging is normal, but get back on track to stabilize the changes.

well if you stop doing cardio alltogether aswell as pigging out ofcourse you are going to gain alot of weight. 'cake on cake' is an expression we use in swe. (didnt sound good in english :D )

but like said alot of it is water weight as you will bind more water when glycogen levels are high.

you looked great by the way, especially for a natty. outstanding first competition.

Well done. You looked great. Well done on diet. great arms. I think your chest looks good. Do another show next year if you can handle the diet.

Great transformation.....good job, you look great!!

HOLY SHIT!!   :o

Nice job on the rebound.   ;D

Drink lots of water, get back into the gym, and try to eat a little better, you will balance out in a week or two.

very very nice bro. You going for your natural pro card now??

I dont think Ill ever make it as a natural pro. I have structural/genetic flaws....small forearms, high calves, lagging hamstrings, stretch marks, etc....

The show I did was called the Colorado Natural that was held on Nov 3rd, its an NPC event. My dieticians told me that anyone who takes their class at an NPC contest gets an invite to a National NPC event but I am no where at that level of physical developement....thats like the best of the best in the country trying to go for their pro card. I would get massacred at that level!

I only know of Phil Heath accomplishing this feat by doing I believe 3 or 4 NPC contests and  then turning pro in a short amount of time.... Aside from Shawn Ray, Phil Heath is becoming a favorite of mine....

There is the Team Universe which is supposed to be a natural show but I am no where in that league...

I think it would be best to do local shows to get more experience, get more posing lessons, and refine what I have and build more size on my lanky frame....

A friend video taped my posing routine and posted it on youtube and I was laughing my ass off....I am really a bad poser and lanky as hell with no hamstrings or legs!! But the judges must have liked the package I brought to give me the novice overall title and gave me first place for the light heavyweight class where there were 10 competitors to include myself in that class....

Thank God, there was no one like Phil Heath in my class :)

You guys are goin to get a kick out of this...its going to make a few of you laugh your ass off!! When I first saw this video, I was actually putting my face in my hands in embarrassment but pumpster and my friend Dennis who is also on this board kinda cheered me up and reminded me that i am not a pro and should be proud that I had the courage (or dilusionment) to get up there....

Again, I admire all those people who dieted and trained their asses off to get onstage...Blockhead, Mike Arvilla, Laura, Vince G, Ripitupbaby, 2powerful4u, Billy Guns, etc....you guys are some of my examples and I admire you....

Well here is the video of me.....you guys are going to laugh your asses off... http://youtube.com/watch?v=obbUSqZznps (http://youtube.com/watch?v=obbUSqZznps)

Hey SteelePegasus...

No Clen, no T3...but I did use Venom made by ALRI for my fat burner....other people have used different fat burners but this by far is my favorite because it supressed my appetite...

I know you are goign to have doubts that I did this without clen or T3 but I did it....

I didnt do anything fancy, just ate clean, did cardio (a lot of cardio), took supplements that worked....optimum whey protein, Venom, Isopure zero carb protein, multi vitamin, fish oil capsules, vitamin c, oh yeah, I did use Dorian Yates Approved MRPs for my meal replacements when i didnt have time to eat so I wouldnt skip meals...but a lot of my food was pretty much solid meals....the shakes were when it was impossible for me to eat solid meals ro didnt have time to eat solid meals...my dieticians stressed to me to never miss a meal....

I had doubts that I could do this at first but like my nutritionists/dieticians said...if I stick to the plan and follow what they said, a "snowball" effect would happen and it did....pants got looser, veins started to show up in my chest and abs, ect....

It wasnt easy but I did it..I almost gave up a few times but I am glad I didnt...

Jerry, I have no reason to doubt you. I was only asking a question, you have been upfront with your answers..good transformation.

I only ask because I can get down to a certain level, but I can't seem to take it further. Dieting for a long time takes more will power than I am able to muster....... Good job

Nice video!

Your conditioning looked really good.
It's harder to tell during the routines, but it looks like you could get a lot more out of the physique you have right now if you improve your posing...just pulling out the lats more, pulling the side chest harder, getting the arm back more in the side tricep, flexing everything a little harder, etc.

You know what you need to work on for the next show...put some size on your legs, practice posing, and come back with equal or better conditioning...
Good job for your first show!   8)

Hey Steel...

I didnt mean that you would doubt me...but if someone told me that they lost 67 pounds in a matter of months, I would think that they were starving themselves or taking something illegal to lose all that weight....because I would think they would have all this loose skin and such... I had so much doubt about myself and about the nutritional plan that they put me on...I guess i just felt really bad about myself....I couldnt take my shirt off at the pool because I felt I looked disgusting ( and I did)

I did have some loose skin on my glutes but my waist use to be 39-43 inches and my worry was that I was going to have so much loose skin on my stomach...thank God I didnt....

I kinda surprised myself.

no..

usually I mix a large portion of egg white, 2 scoops of whey, 1 scoop of oats and banana...mix in blender
add some pam to the frying pan and cook it up..I have 1/2 for breakfast and snack on the rest until lunch

every now and then I will get a sausage and egg mcgriddle when I am too lazy to prep

ripitupbaby, I guess I tried to time my posing to my music cause I only had 60 seconds to do my posing routine...it was pretty much nervousness. I was so scared, I wanted to get off that stage. I wasnt holding onto any of my poses...timing to the beat was bad.

I do have a hard time opening up my lats and holding my poses. I do need a lot of practice though and I agree with everything that you said....

Mars....I did no anabolics preparing for this contest.

As for duiretics...the only duiretics I used were natural duiretics such as asparagus and I also used a legal duiretic made by MRM called H2O Lean
I am now fully convinced u are full of SHIAT. U did no anabolics  :D u went to 5-6% bodyfat  , used no diuretics ::) AND U STILL MANAGED TO HOLD ON TO ALL THAT MUSCLE. WOW!!!! I AM CONVINCED THAT IF U WOULD  ::) USE ANABOLICS, FATBURNERS AND DIURETIC U WOULD EASILY CLEAN HOUSE AT THE NATIONALS. WHERE DO THESE CLOWNS COME FROM ???????????? THANK U JESUS!!! ::)

Sevastase, I actually lost muscle. If I did anabolics...dont you think I would have gotten bigger instead of smaller?

I guess, that pose I did gave me the illusion of having more muscle than I actually have...Bodybuilding is an illusion...

For my height which is 5'10" and half, dont you think it would have been better if I was around or over 230-240 pounds?

My arm size didnt increase but decreased. My legs were actually bigger than what they were before I competed. Granted they were fat but my legs had much more muscle when I was fatter. If I did take anabolics, dont you think that I would have been somewhere around 220-230 pounds instead of a measley 192 pounds? I would think that taking anabolics while contest dieting  would make you bigger? My legs looked like shit, hamstrings from the side look non existant. My delts lacked that round appearance. I looked lanky as hell on stage. There were a few guys who had more muscle than me, does that mean they were on anabolics?

As for clen, I didnt take any clen. You think I liked doing cardio 5-7 days a week, for about 2 hours  a day, morning and night? Clen or some other type of chemical that affected thyroid would have been much easier than doing a shit load of cardio. Cardio sucks ass. As for my bodyfat, I dont even know what my bodyfat percentage was...it was never measured. And I did use duiretics....MRM H2O Lean.

I thought I had all the answers to dieting but my knowledge is very limited, thats why I went to people who have experience with contest dieting and training. Because my own dieting techniques got me no where. I wasnt seeing the results I wanted to and kept on failing.

Maybe you should consult with someone, Sevastase? Maybe you arent doing something right?  I mean you do look good but wouldnt you want to look even better?

You look fantastic Jeremy!  I have a few questions.  One is, why did you resort to using a nutritionist as opposed to handling the diet aspect of your program yourself?  Secondly, what is your work schedule like? How did you manage all this while working?  Thirdly, do you think you had kept a lot of gains you had prior to your competition.... could be attributed to your history of AAS use?

Anyways man, I got tons of respect for you, you really pulled it off.

Anyways man, I got tons of respect for you, you really pulled it off.

I know this may sound wierd because I am an adult but I couldnt do it by myself. If you are a person that lacks discipline or if you tried your own method and got no where time and time again, I say hire someone who has vast experience and knowledge in that field.

The Air Force put me on a "fat boy" program. They send you to a dietician who thinks they know it all. And this particular dietican was making me eat so much starch which consisted of bread and simple sugars like fruit...and they limited my protein not to mention portion size for protein was so miniscule! This didnt help me it got me more fatter and this was a diet plan given to me by someone who has some type of degree! This person didnt understand my goals or desires about wanting to compete....this person didnt know jack about nutrition!

So I went to Cameron and Tracy Bodner (Team Intense Muscle). And they told me about their experience with dieting and contests and showed me before and after pics of clients they have helped. Not only did these people actually walk the walk, they talked the talk! That was very important to me. These people wrote up a diet plan and evaluated me weekly. I had to hold myself accountable to them....if I cheated, these people could tell by looking at my body and would make adjustments to my diet plan accordingly...

**Again, I had accountability....this was important to me because the previous times I put myself on a diet, I lacked the fortitude and the discipline to do it by myself, these people were blessings to me...

I work from 7:30 Am to 4:30-5:00 PM. I would wake up 4:30 AM in the morning and drive to the gym in order to do my 45-60 minute cardio routine. Get home a little after 6 Am to make my meals and take a shower, Leave home by 7:00 AM to drive to work.  Get to the gym by 5:30-6:00 PM to train with weights and do cardio...

As for gains from prior steriod use.... when I first started it was sometime around 1994-1995, I was actually around 190 pounds, when i did dianabol, I went up in weight to over 220 pounds in a matter of months..the strength increase was incredible. I dont think i would have gotten to this weight naturally if I didnt do steroids.

In 1997, joined the military. couldnt use any gear....weight dropped from around 220 pounds to 190 pounds... I still had muscle then. I wasnt big but you could tell that I lifted weight.

In 2002-2003, got on a cycle of sust and deca. My weight shot up to 230-240 pounds. At one point while bulking, my weight shot up to 260-270 pounds (on cycle). I looked like a freakin football player Attached is a picture of me at a little over 240 pounds but I was retaining a lot of water as well.... Military picture, I was a little over 270 pounds (bulked up)

Stopped sometime around mid 2003, when I stopped cold turkey, I couldnt bench even 315 pounds...struggled with 225 for reps, couldnt even squat 315 pounds. When I was "on" I could bench over 315 pounds for over 10 reps with ease.... Squat over 405 pounds for reps with ease, etc

That strength when "off" was gone and body weight  started to decrease. down to 220...during that time I got into some type of "depression" if thats what you want to call it so I started doing nothing but eating...and the amounts of food i ate was alot...weight shot up gradually to 260 to over 270 pounds... I looked like a freakin linebacker.   At times when I would drop to 250, I wouldnt "look" fat with clothes prbably because I sucked my gut in. But I was still what other people consider "big" as in I looked like I lifted weights and worked out.  Even when clean...I could rep 120s-140s for dumbbell bench press, do the whole stack for lat pull downs and back cable rows. I trained "heavy" naturally but couldnt do reps with barbell bench press with 315s or squat 315s...dont ask me why I couldnt do it....I cant do it while "Off" I struggle with squats and barbell bench with 315 pounds....but with dumbbells I am pretty strong...

I dont know if I kept my steriod gains...I think not...I think what saved me was the gains I made while natural and "fat as hell". because if I had kept most of my steriod gains, I believe that I would be around 220s to 230 pounds dieted down to almost no fat on my body but "natural" I went down to 192 pounds...do you see what I mean? I believe if I followed the plan to a "T", I would have been 180s-190 pounds natural if I didnt cheat on my diet and was more harder and drier...

I believe, if a pro stopped juicing....and went down to a natural weight like low 200s, he would have a hard time benching 315s or squating 315s especially if that pro is 5'9" and over. I always wonder how much kevin Levrone could bench now that he is natural or Flex Wheeler can bench or squat now that they are natural...personally I dont  believe they can do much as they done while enhanced...but maybe if they trained like natural powerlifters and had the body weight of 300 plus pounds they could do it ;)

**Questions to ask.... are these people genetically gifted? Or chemically/genetically enhanced? I say genetically enhanced. Steriods/anabolics "augments" your genetic potential....

**Squadfather said it best...its not possible for someone 5"10" to 6 feet to be over 210-220 pounds naturally at 10% bodyfat. I only could do it while I was "on". I could never do it naturally....I just proved  that at 192 pounds at 5'10" and a half I was under 10% bodyfat (natural).  When I was "on" and low bodyfat at 230-240s, I would tell people I was natural...I was such a liar but I did what i had to because I am in the military....and you have people in the military who would stab someone in the back to propel themselves in their careers to make themselves look better or draw attention away from themselves...this is how the real military is...there is a brotherhood or family in some career fields in the military but in my experience and career field, there isnt...you have back biters and fakes who are good for nothing and lazy and will backstab you to propel their careers to make themselves look good.....I call them fakes and asskissers..there are a lot of them in the military especially in the Air Force....

** I am in the military, and someone could use what I said against me and try to put me in jail for something I did in my past...but I cant change my past. I believe its a personal choice. People who use it use it to better themselves and are still law abiding citizens (even though people may disagree) who pay taxes and do no harm to no one....

**Again, what I explained about gear is my personal theory.....

EVERY SINCE U POSTED THOSE PICS OF YOURS....U KINDA MAKE IT HARD TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY ...U RESEMBLE A TWIG

Bodybuilding is an illusion. Some poses I do make it appear that I carry more muscle than I actually have.

I didnt take any anabolics for this show.

Ill attach more pics to show you my point.

1. In one pic is a picture of me and my friend  Mike who competed with me. He is a lifetime natural. He carrys just as much muscle as me or maybe more..Im just a little taller, thats all...

2. My side chest shot...look at my legs and arms. Seee how lanky I am? I look awful in this pic. My arms arenL that big, my legs look like crap. Im just somewhat cut up. If I had taken anabolics, I would have been much bigger and more filled out. Like I said, certain poses gives an illusion that you are bigger than what you really are

3. Pic of me and dietician/nutritionist Tracy....Im just taller than her...but if you and others can tell, Im not that "big" to begin with.

4. Team Intense Muscle pic....Im the tallest of the bunch. Im standing near my friend Nadine who is a natural female bodybuilder...She is like 5'9". You actually think I dwarf alot of people with my massive size?

I think I look ridiculous in certain pics. I do that upside down hands most muscular pose to make me look bigger than what i actually am...

You looked great.. I use to compete naturally, then guys like you would crush all of us total natties.... What was the time clean? I know most organizations want you to be like 7 years clean!

I notice though a physique that has seen some good cycles, and followed by good diet and hard work will always be ahead of the completely natural physique as far as muscle size, even after being clean for years...it varies with genetics but for the most part guys still look great after being off if they do it right..and you did it right, you looked great man..

Sevaste shut up. You cant compare Jerrys structure to your frank Zane with aids physique...Jerrys a thick dude.. I believe him.

When I did the NGA there were guys that use to use, and they also were better than us totally natty..it just changes your body forever.

Thanks for answering my question's Jeremy. Honestly, I think you've set a tremendous example for all us. I find your story compelling because you did all of this while contending with outside obligations. Another interesting aspect was that the fact that you didn't start out with the ideal physique. For me, I can't relate to guys who put there whole life into competing. I have done the same for little stints, where I started focusing too much on bodybuilding, and not enough on other aspects of my life. The appeal for me has always been to integrate a bodybuilding lifestyle into my life. Sometimes its hard to admit that you're tired, and you just don't have the energy.  Sometimes, you have to understand that other aspects of your life will take precedence, such as a career or a family.

Anyhow, From my understanding, you decided to part with AAS because it could jeopardize your future, is that correct?

Lying through your teeth here buddy . All those who suppert your theory never dieted for a show clean or not and are at best weekend warriors. Since I've done it both ways I'll tell u this : You would be 175 lbs maybe if u dieted down clean at 5-6 % bodyfat .The theory that past cycles helped u because u had a lot of muscle left from 4 years ago  :D  ::) does not hold here . You need to be ON to maintain those gains and MOST IMPORTANT , You need AAS to hold on to 192 lbs while u diet down. With all that cardio and no AAS you would be a stick come contest time. Squadfatter sides wityh you but again ; HE IS A FAT DUDE WHO NEVER DIETED DOWN ALL TALK AND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT'S UP IN THAT DEPARTAMENT . Sorry : AGAIN  ;)

yes...I'll post pics of dieting down while clean at 178..and nowhere near 6% more like 8-9 % . This is with no aas , 2 hours cardio daily..as u can see it leaves u with not a lot of muscle to speak of.

Ok...then please tell me this...prior to doing any steriods, I was 190 pounds (natural) in 1994.

I did numerous steriod cycles and off and on and in 2003 I stopped completely.... After being natural for a number of years and training for my first show.....why did my body revert to being only 192 pounds?  If I had kept all my steriod gains....dont you think my body would have been over 200 pounds or over 210 pounds or maybe over 220 pounds? Why did my body go down to around the bodyweight (190 pounds) I had before i ever touched a steriod?

Anyhow, From my understanding, you decided to part with AAS because it could jeopardize your future, is that correct?

Training for this contest was very hard. it took a lot of sacrifice and allienating a lot of my friends because I couldnt really go out much or go out to eat with them not to mention being in the gym all the time because you have to do cardio morning and night... for the pro and ametuers traning for contests, I can undertsand the sacrifices it takes....thank God I dont have a girlfriend or have any kids because that relationship would have been ruined because I focused so much on this training.

Forka, do you have a family? How do they feel about your bodybuilding lifestyle? My last girlfriend couldnt understand why I was in the gym for 2 hours and it caused strain on our relationship. It was so hard balancing a relationship and working out that it tore us apart....

Well, I guess I stopped steriods because I had a bad experience when I got off...Ill be very candid and honest but I remember when there was a time when it completely detroyed my libido and couldnt get it up no matter how gorgeous the woman was. It took months to get it back and it could lead to disorders of the mind which can affect you to this day........another reason too is the military, they do test for reecreational drug use but a steriod test has to be commander directed. I remember at one point in 2003, I went to a function where they had tug of war and i was wearing a tank top. There were a few people yelling out loud that I should be tested and everybody just looked at me, I was quiet for awhile not knowing what was going to happen the next day...cause if they did test you for steriods and you are positive, you could be dishonorably discharged or you can go to jail..believe it or not...there were some cadets at the Air Force Academy who took andro (pro hormones) and was sent to jail for something so little and adro!!!!  So this was one of the reasons. Another one was an ex girlfriend didnt like me doing it because it was illegal. It caused a lot of stress on our relationship...I was never violent..I was pretty much the same old person...just bigger...she compared a steriod user  the same as a drug addict....she made both of them synonymous with each other...

Ill be honest, I mean I loved the strength anabolics gave me and the recovery time and it does screw with your mind when you come off especially when you are losing your strength and are getting smaller. I got better results from anabolics then I did with supplements promising you steriod like gains (muscletech). Anabolics were much more cost effective then any Muscletech, EAS, ect! And they worked too!!

Who is to say that a person will use or never use again? We all have goals...its a personal choice...

For doing a show clean, yes , I believe it's a lot of muscle. I also believe that u are not ripped. U got a beach body going on...Going under 6% IF u manage it will eat up almost all the muscle left. Most of the people arguing here with me forget one thing : it's not a big deal to be 200 lbs naturally at 10 %....192 at 7% at 5'10" is I believe . But since I do not want to speculate since You are the only one who knows for sure,  , I'd like to hear GH15's oppinion, as well as maybe van bilderass.

I agree, I am not as ripped as I could have been. I did end up cheating a few times on my diet so I always wonder what my body would have been like if I didnt cheat on multiple occassions.

As far as Beach Body...thank you..Ive always wanted a beach body....

I dont know what bodyfat percentage I was...but what I do know was I had veins in my chest and shoulders which I thought looked really freaky...

This guy is most likely natural.  I can't say for sure because I don't know him, but come on, why would someone claim to be natural who isn't...and on the web of all places...ahha  That's like lying about your SAT score to a bunch of retarded kids.
Give the guy credit, he looks pretty good and didn't rely on gear to get that way.  Few people have the heart to do that, end of story.  Gyms are flooded with 2nd rate wannabe Olympia juicers.  We need more people like this in bodybuilding, but let's face it, most simply can't do it. ;)

Forka said and asked

No man, I'm not married, and I do not have any children. Although, I hope to, one day when I'm ready. My concern at the moment is graduating.

I'm 29, and like an idiot, I still have physical aspirations.  The problem is, I don't have much time. I have tried everything, I have really put it all on the line…But I can't manage my program if I don't commit myself 100%.  So school takes  a precedence, but only for a few more months, then its finally over.  At the moment, I have a lot of pressure on me, and being the emotional eater, I tend to eat when I probably shouldn't, and then I skip meals when I KNOW I shouldn't. I am not fat, but I'm certainly not ripped either. Your story is far more reaching then most, and I think its pretty amazing what you did. Although I must say, if you don't mind me saying, I find it a bit disappointing that your relationship had prematurely ended because of your commitment to the game of iron. I mean, that's a bit extreme, wouldn't you agree?  I really do appreciate your honesty here, and I really do hope you're are a true natural.  It would really be a shame if you're not telling the truth.

On another note, you said permanent mental  side-effects?  What do you mean by this?  And as far your libido, what about PCT?  Did you follow a proper protocol?

As for Sevastase, you seem like a decent guy man, but some of the stuff you post is a little bit odd.  Your back double bicep shot…  I say this with all respect man, it’s a bit….strange.  You shouldn't post shit like that on web, let alone getbig.

Awesome physique for a natural Jerry - congrats on the contest. That midsection is top amateur standard and you've got some great genetics for a tall guy - good showing man.

I usually just lurk on the board every day as I don't want to get involved in the drama but this is a ridiculous.  Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt.  It took a hell of a lot of work to put a competitive package on stage.

For Jerryme - You look great and no one can take that away from you.  At the end of the day there are very few people who can accomplish what you did whether they are on or off AAS.  I'll bet you worked harder for this than anything you've worked for in your life.  Don't feel like you have to justify yourself to everyone.  You know you did it naturally and that is the end of it.  There is nothing you can say to convince someone who does not believe you so just agree to disagree.

Again, congratulations on a great show.

Sevastase...you think this is a lot of muscle?

Im kinda shocked because personally, I felt lanky and skinny....but I guess I should take what you said as a compliment...because I did do this show as a natural....

technically you were clean not natural

big difference..and an insult to us naturals..

In one my relationships, the woman I was engaged to didnt like the fact that I was at the gym 5 days a week, about 2 hours a day or sometimes 3 hours. I guess she wanted to be in a relationship  where 2 people spent quality time with each other. At the time when I was in that relationship, I must say that I placed things above her.... friends, gym time, ect... I tried making the gym a part of her life but it wasnt what she was into....She was a remarkable, loving woman...she deserved better than me...thats all I could say. I learned a big lesson

When I said permanent metal side effects...meaning libido not working...imagine being with a woman and she calls you less of a man because you couldnt get it up at the time.... your self esteem goes low as well and sometimes you begin to feel less of a man because of that bad experience. Im ok now but it really hurt my feelings and I did at the time feel low.
** The time when I went off, I did use nolvadex but it crushed my libido...I also lost muscle mass as well. I didnt understand why nolvadex made me lose my libido because I actually thought it was supposed to help protect against loss of libido and help me keep my gains after a steriod cycle...but it actually made me lose some of my gains... the person who i got my things then from told me nolvadex was supposed to help me keep my gains and help my libido ..it didnt

**I am not a steriod  expert so I cant recommend anything or tell you what something is really supposed to do. A lot of my knowledge is from what the person who sold it to me told me it does. Makes me wonder how they got their knowledge....

I apologize, Steelpegasus..I meant that Ive been and am clean...I didnt mean to insult the true naturals here ....

That was one revealing post.  Credit for being honest there.
What I don't get, is why someone would choose gear over a functioning libido?  I really don't see anything morally wrong with taking gear, my whole thing is I don't feel it's true bodybuilding.

You made my year!! (thanks Bro and again great job!!!!!)

I dont know why myself...maybe because I had aspirations of competing one day and liked that I was becoming more muscler and stronger. Maybe I thought that it would never happem to me because I had an incredible sex drive then. I was wrong...Had to learn a valuable learning lesson from that I guess...

I had my priorities wrong back then....call me stupid...I would never ever trade a working libido over gear ever again...

I agree it is not true bodybuilding...but what is then? What if you did everything you can and not make gains...what would you do?

Its true, Mike...your transformaion started that spark in me and made me believe I can do it...it made me want to compete because you provided that example!

I dont understand how someone can not be inspired by what youve done...it sure has inspired me!!

Well, I think it would be impossible to do everything you can...and still not make gains.  The human body just doesn't work like that.  Maybe not the gains you hoped for, but gains all the same.  I think it's possible for pretty much anyone to put on 25lbs of muscle...no problem.  It make take a year or two for some, but in the end, it is truly your accomplishment.  Is it temporary like drug gains, of course...unless you keep on a consistent program, everything is temporary.  I just never understand how someone can take pride in knowing most of their gains really come from a drug.
I feel the majority of people in bodybuilding are somewhat delusional and believe it's them making these drastic changes and not the drugs mainly.  Sure, you have to go through rudimentary steps along the way like, eat food and go to the gym 4x a week, but really it's nothing more than a guaranteed gain.  Where is the challenge in that?
I wish I could go to the gym one day and have a certain respect for everyone in there.  Today, I go to the gym and think I'm amongst short cutting losers.  I don't even give a shit what they look like.  It's a weak mindset to me.  Not the fact that someone is ingesting drugs, but because 98% of these guys never achieved much without them or even better, had the faith in themselves to really max out their own genetics naturally.  This really contradicts everything real bodybuilding is about.

I can understand how you feel. Personally for me, I needed to get bigger because of being bullied....I would have sold my soul back then for vengeance because what i went through in my past was so bad....

Being bigger and stronger got me respect and made people leave me alone....

But I do understand how you feel because I felt like that at first...

Aren't you @35 or something?  What does being bullied 20 years ago have to do with juicing now?  Wouldn't you rather weigh 20lbs less and know it's all you and not some crazy drug stack?  For me, I just wouldn't feel any accomplishment in that.  Do you?

Yes, I am in my early thirties....

But I guess, Its just like how Dave Pulcinella was explaining how he was bullied when he was younger. I can empathize with him..

I guess getting bigger led to wanting to get more bigger...where you felt small even when people tell you that you are already big..

Doing this contest clean felt like a great accomplishment. It was one of the hardest things Ive ever done. I do feel a sense of pride...

But personally I dont think i look that great....I dont know what I am going to end up doing....

Jer,

You said you recieved council with regards to nutrition. Did they also advise you on Training; for instance, leading up the the show?  Secondly, was it very expensive?
Title: Re: I finally did a show (A natural show)
Post by: Jerryme7 on November 13, 2007, 11:38:45 AM
Yes, they advised me on training and cardio.

They wanted me to follow the plan to include the cardio routine. They didnt want me doing extra cardio. Lets say that I felt i wasnt losing enough body weight and had time to kill during lunch, should I go running? No, they wanted me to follow the cardio routine they had on my plan.....2 Sessions...one morning  and one night...started out at 5 days a week that turned into seven near contest time...

A few weeks before contests time, they would tell me to increase my reps to bring in more definition. Example legs....they would tell me that when I trained my legs to try to get 50 reps per set at a lighter weight. A week before the show, they advised me not to train legs, ect. The reason why is because they told me that the legs could retain fluid when its trying to recover from brutal workouts. So they told me no more leg workouts a week out from contest time.

**They didnt write a training routine for me because I was already on a training plan with my training partner. But they did advise what I needed to work on the most and improve upon when they saw me weekly.

Aside from dieting, they advised me on tanning. Believe it or not, I had to tan for this show. They taught me how to do the mandatory poses. They also helped me with my posing routine because I didnt know how to do a posing routine or what to do. Granted I did suck in my posing routine but I thought I did good for it being my first contest and being very stage shy...

I have to mention that the plan they put me on did work but it is also what you are willing to put in and the effort you are willing to put forth. I did end up cheating on multiple occasions on my diet and did miss a few cardio sessions, but I got back on track and let them know if I cheated or not or if I missed a cardio session. They would in turn evealuate my physique and adjust my diet/cardio...

**They didnt put a gun to my head and make me do these things. I had a choice to either follow what they outlined or do my own thing. Ive learned that doing my own thing got me nowhere. What also made it so successful was the feedback they would give me every week to insure that I was doing what they told me. They have a lot of experience to know if i was bullshitting them or not...and they would tell you if they felt you werent following what they said

**At times, I felt like giving up because I missed hanging out with my friends and I also missed eating but things like this take a lot of effort and sacrifice...it wasnt easy at all, I have to admit  that...but it is attainable

Awesome job Jerry!  You seem like a guy with great character, so I don't see a reason not to believe what you have stated.  As a guy who places heavy importance on a person's character, you have my respect.

Sevastase: First of all, I am a newbee.  Flame away if that's what's going to make you happy.  You have a decent physique and should be proud of what you've accomplished so far and should always strive to get better through consistent, intelligent, and efficient training and close attention to your diet.  The drugs?  That's a personal decision that only the person taking them has to live with.  I am a lifetime natural by choice.  I have never used drugs of any kind, only drank a half a can of lite beer on my wedding day as far as alcohol, never smoked, etc.  A square?  Perhaps, but I am happy that I can look my two little kids in the eyes and tell them this.  When I graduated high school, I weighed 167 lbs at 5' 10 1/2"; today I am just a hair under 280 lbs.  Are you saying that I must be lying?  Are you questioning my character?  Sure I have a 40" waist (just like Jerry said he does in the off-season) which I would like to cut down a few inches, but it's OK.  I work about 50 hours a week at a job that I can't get consistent meals in most of the time, am raising a 5-year old and a 2-year old with my awesome wife WITHOUT using a babysitter (so a lot of my time is spent watching over them), and my workouts are usually at 11pm or midnight after my kids have gone to sleep or at 8am AFTER getting off of the graveyard shift.  I average only about 3.5 to 4 hours of sleep everyday.  Yes, I am rambling.  My point is, before you start questioning someone's character, take a good long look in the mirror.  Yes, there are a lot of liars on this board. But I always give people the benefit of the doubt before drawing my own conclusions.

Anyway, Jerry, keep it up.  Work on your weaknesses and challenge yourself to make them strengths the next go around.

But I always give people the benefit of the doubt before drawing my own conclusions.

Anyway, Jerry, keep it up.  Work on your weaknesses and challenge yourself to make them strengths the next go around.
Let's see ...you are a gym warrior weekend warrior wannabe who was skinny and now youre fat. U obviously don't know and don't understand shit about the body's physiology when it comes to doing a show. So again ; what's your point ?....I made mine because  I know what I see and what I'm talking about. What about u ? ever dieted down for a show ?...naturally ? If not , never preach to me again fatso . Do it first , and then you will at worst agree with me. you are 5'10" 280 ? IF u ever diet down to 6% bodyfat or 5% ( which by the way I think it's impossible without t3 and fatburners ) you will weigh exactly around 155-160 lbs. So before u criticize me learn your bodybuilding and then we can have a discussion. K ?  ;)

Your opinions are incorrect.

For a teenage bb contest, at about 5 ft 10 inches, I competed 100% natural at 186 lbs.

I dont know what my body fat was exactly, but I was about as ripped as Jerryme was.

Like a previous poster stated, just because your genetics are limited, doesnt mean everyone else's is.

Your posts are incredibly tiresome to read - pls refrain.

Keep lifting,

either that or ; u took aas and came in ripped at 186 but i doubt it , or u have incredibly large bones and a chunky structure in which case bodyweight is irrelevant.

No, no AAS, and my structure and bones are average. And I've no desire to post a pic or place a bet online.

Accept the fact that many have better genetics for bb than you do. This is a fact that all but a very tiny % of individuals have to accept.

Your claim that it's impossible to be ~ 195 lbs, 5 ft 10, and 5% bodyfat, w/o drugs, is silly.

I'm not sure if you truly believe this, or if you're just amusing yourself by intentionally posting nonsense.  Either way, tx for the amusement.

For you - and for me as a teenager - yes, this is/was indeed impossible (186 lb was biggest I ever got in contest shape) - but I've little trouble believing that there exists MANY individuals who could have 10 more lbs of fat-free muscle, at my height, than I had as a teenager.

Think bell curve, Sev - there will always be a few lucky individuals around the right-most asymptote.

Keep lifting,

I'm too ugly to model...I train clients and been specializing lately in weightloss diets...so I believe that by presenting a nice muscular physique people might get motivated and will pay attention to what I gotta say. And by the way : I DID COMPETE  ;)

Well , I haven't been on a serious cycle in a few years . And it takes time effort and money to pack on some serious beef to present a decent package at 200-210 lbs ...Currently working on it. :)

This response was expected.  It is quite unfortunate actually.  I never said I was lean; I mean, I admitted on a bodybuilding forum that I have a 40-inch waist!  I also stated that I would like to trim it a few inches; I think 36 would be realistic as I had a 36-inch waist when I was in college and decently lean (not contest ready lean, but just everyday, "walking-around-looking-in-great-shape" lean which is all I am shooting for).  Anyway, I give you a lot of credit as far as getting your bodyfat that low and my original post actually complimented your physique.  As much as others might flame on you on this board, the reality is that you probably do have a much better physique than most that post on here; good on ya!  True, I've never dieted down for a show, but I've never had the desire to compete anyways.  With my conviction to remain natural, how am I going to be able to compete on a level playing field with guys who juice plus have better genetics than me?  My motivation has always been to see how huge I could get naturally and with intense training; nothing more.  I have friends over the past 20 or so years whom I've been with almost everyday during their contest dieting, training, posing practice, etc., so although I don't have first-hand knowledge about prepping for a contest, I am not exactly clueless about it.  I give respect to all who compete and have the discipline like Jerry to get on that stage, no matter if the individual is juicing or not.  The person still had to train hard and diet his ass off; let's not forget that.

I am going to be 38 years old in a few days.  I have a great wife, two unbelievably cute kids, great (drama-free) family, great friends, and I make a decent living to get by.  Bodybuilding is about 11th or 12th on my list of priorities.  If that's what you classify as a "weekend warrior", then you are entitled to your opinion.  I currently workout 4 days a week, 1.5 to 2 hours each session with 30 minutes of cardio at the end.  I was involved in bodybuilding from '87 to '00, took a 7-year layoff (which I regret, but I had other things going on in my life like working on my career and trying to start a family after just getting married in '99), and have just gotten back in the gym since the beginning of July of this year.  I started off (hadn't touched a weight in 7 years) at 247 lbs on July 7th and am about 278 lbs today; thank goodness for muscle memory!  Gaining back the muscle has been a lot easier than trying to burn fat!  I don't know my current measurements; don't own a tape measure.  But I do know that on my wedding day back in '99 when I was in my best shape both in terms of fat percentage and muscle mass, I weighed 252 lbs with 19 3/8" arms.  Recently, due to my weight gain, I've had to get new jackets for work from a 50" to 54", but with my pants' waist size the same (although fat at 40" as it may be).  Even though I wasn't training for 7 years, I still tried to keep up on the sport, attend a couple of shows that friends would enter, etc.  I still had the love of the iron I guess you could say.

Anyway, I wasn't preaching to you about contest dieting.  I was "preaching" (your terminology) to you about questioning people's character and to try not to be so quick to do so.  What is your reality isn't necessarily the reality for others.  It's nothing to be ashamed of that both you and I don't have world-class genetics for this sport.  All we can do is train, eat, etc., to the best of our ability and leave it God's hands and be happy that we are healthy at least.

Personally, I think Sevastase has awesome genetics. Look at that dude's legs!!! He has a physique that a lot of us want to attain...

I dont understand why someone would say he/she has poor genetics or why anyone would say they or this guy or this girl has poor genetics.. Cant someone bring up a bodypart to give the illusion of balance? Isnt that what bodybuilding is supposed to be.

Maybe the person just isnt eating right or training right?

There are a lot of weak bodyparts that I have but I believe that if I work on them hard, I could better them.

I believe that anyone can make the most of what they are born/dealt with.. ..

I doubt you were lean in college.  I know alot of people that say they have a 32 waist but their pants set below a hugh 45 inch stomach.  Get real you were not lean compared to typical gym rat much less contest shape.

If Jerry and Sevastase don't have anything to hide, then why should I? Here's a pic taken over the weekend; that's me to the right.  Again, nothing to brag about; there's my 40-inch waist in all its glory.  I'm a work in progress as is everyone else.  Believe me, this is the fattest I've ever been in my life, which is one reason why I'm back in the gym.  I've only recently been confident enough to tuck in my shirts (anybody out there who's overweight can relate; it's kinda embarrassing to have a gut hanging over the beltline).  The gut is still pretty out there, but it's improved some over the past 4 months.  I'm patient; afterall, it took years to develop the damn gut in the first place!  :P

This thread should be about Jerry OK?  Jerry's the one who had the balls and the determination to put himself out there; I don't think I could ever do it and I consider myself a pretty goal-oriented guy.

I never did "preach" about contest prep or the amount of muscle one can lose; perhaps you're confusing me with the other guy that was posting to you.  Anyhow, the only point that I was trying to get across (which I've pointed out and emphasized in a previous post) is that I wish you would not be so quick to question people's character, especially someone like Jerry who doesn't seem to have any reason to hide anything and has been more than open about many facets of his life both present and past.  He seems to be a good, honest guy who has acknowledged his past mistakes and can take constructive criticism well.  He started this thread to share his first-time contest experience with us.  We should be congratulating him and thanking him for sharing what he went through to get there.  I'm sure you would like the same if you had outlined your contest prep and let us in on how you busted your butt to get there.  The good thing about you Sevastase is that you certainly are passionate about the sport.  All winners in any type of sport or other aspects of life have that same passion; the trick is to focus it in the right direction.  Best of luck to you in your future endeavors, in all seriousness.

Uhhh........thanks??  ;D  Oh well, like I said, I'm a work in progress.  For only 4 months back hitting the weights after a 7-year layoff, I'm about where I expected to be as far as my progress.  I'm in it for the long haul now.

Best of luck to Keith by the way.  If I'm having trouble losing a few inches off of my waist, I cannot even imagine the task that Keith is undertaking.  I wish him all the best; we should be pulling for him.
