seems like everytime you turn around there's another poster talking about how common it is to see guys benching 500 for reps, squatting 700 for reps and pressing 315 behind the neck for reps so where are these gyms because i've seen less than a handful of guys in my life do these things? here's what i'm talking about.
I agree with you. 3 plates behind the neck on a smith is very common in my gym amoung the bigger guys.
-
I've only seen one guy attempt to bench 500, and the whole place literally stopped. It was like an event, I think half these "gyms" are in their imagination.
-
where is the "guy" who is claiming these things?

i've seen one guy in my whole life do more than one rep on the bench with 500 and it was a Samoan freak of nature who probably came out of the womb benching 315.

Everyone at Onlyme's gym in Hawaii benches 500lbs :D
I agree that 500lbs benches are pretty damn rare, unless it's Louie Simmons' Westside gym or something. When I was a young kid I saw a guy do 2 triples with 240kg's (about 530lbs). That was damn impressive to me at the time.

was that Samoan freak of nature Onlyme, Dave?

Hah, its not now?
Yes it is. But it was all the more impressive to a 17 year old kid training at a very small gym where the top bench was 350lbs. The guy was passing through town, came in and just threw on 530lbs.

hahahahaha exactly!!! I must be missing out on my chance to be a member of such a house of terror!!!!!!!!!!
oh brother, i would say that I am one of the three strongest guys in my gym ;D (we are not talking about la fitness) and I couldnt in my wildest dreams lift what the majority of the regular "guys" at these powerhouse move on a daily basis while talking on their mobiles!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and let’s not forget the 225-300 pound STRICT bicep curls. Love that one.

hahaha "strict".

On a serious note, are there really bb's that bicep curl 300 pounds?
Why would you want to do that?
-
maybe they want a hernia?

I think Lee Priest claimed a 310 BB curl

I think the world record in the strict curl is 250lbs, or there abouts. To put it in perspective.

When I trained at Chester's Gym (Later New Life Fitness) in Hickory, NC, I saw Grant Pitts
(http://www.geocities.com/colosseum/field/7342/Gp3.jpg)
bench 550 raw for reps in a workout and do a behind the neck press with free weights with 405 for a triple (for years, there was a pic of him doing this by the squat racks) and saw Gene Howell squat to parallel (NOT below) 765 for 12 with knee wraps and a belt.
At Flex gym in Virginia Beach, where I trained the past year, Jeff Turner benched 500 raw, we have several 700+ Deadlifters and when I was there a National Champ for women's division that squatted 500+ and benched over 300.
I've been fortunate to train at gyms with some real monsters, but I've NEVER been to a gym where a 315 behind the neck is "common"!
-
The only guy I've seen bench over 500 in a gym (as opposed to a MEET) was an ex-powerlifter (he wasn't "ex" at the time) in New York state. He warmed up with 135, 225, 315, 405, then slapped 505 on the bar and put that shit up like it was nothing. He wasn't juicing at the time that I know of, and the lift was done raw. Of course, he's like 5'4" with arms that are about 10 inches long and had a huge barrel chest, so he was built to bench. Lucky fucker.
-
my gym is hardcore as hell!
-
onlyme used to do strict 315lb curls (natural) every week training with ray mentzer (RIP).
-
I think to many people think they lift in Golds Venice during the 80's :-\
-
my gym is hardcore as hell!
home gyms with 5lb dumbells don't count
hope that helps

I don't believe that for one second.
-
I did see a wickedly strong guy bench 175lb dumbells at a gym called Eagle Gyms in St. Louis. I really liked that gym, very hardcore. But the place reeked of rotten pizza.
-
Squadfather you should also own E-Kul, he's been acting up with gay-tendencies.

They're relatively strict, have you seen the video? The screenshot isn't at the top of the rep, but that doesnt mean he only brings it up halfway! He also does 215 strict.
-
haha does this fool question the great huge nasser el sonbaty?
i hope not, but it sure looks like it

LA FITNESS ....... that's where all of the HARDCORE people train! Heck, i saw a guy do 15 reps with the BeautyBells! They're crazy I tell ya, CRAZY ;D
-
Military gyms usually seem to have bigger, stronger guys. I mean, not "Here There Be Monsters" bigger and stronger, but decidedly higher caliber than the civilian gym rat at Bally's
-

In the comps in strict curl you stand against a post and there is absolutely no knee bend allowed. Shit, I have done reverse cleans with 250 also. Not a strict curl by any means.
-
Levrone benched 500 for reps full rom....unbelievable
-
you want hardcore google nazareth barbell co. mike miller guy only squats 1220 which last time i checked is the record.
-
I train at a gym West of London that has 3 reigning UK champion powerlifters amongst its memebers along with strongmen and olympic lifters and the weights i heare are common as shit on here ive seen maybe 3 times in 5 years of training!
2 guys a 500lb raw bench, and most behind neck ive seen is 265 for 8.
Ive seen a guy raw squat 700lb but that was for a single.
-
I have no desire to ever attemp 315 lbs behind head press. or bench 500 lbs...my shoulders hurt just thinking about it. :-\
-
Look at this ANIMAL! :D

Maybe the 315lbs behind the neck on a smith machine, but I can't someone benching 500lbs for reps and squatting 700 for reps. Pro's don't even really do that. Hell, Ronnie did 495lbs for reps in his redemtion video on the flat bench and he's one of the strongest bbdr's ever. People highly exaggerate.

So. Huge Nasser did the same for Incline.

It's about the same level of strictness as other pros who curl 155 in their videos.

When I worked out at Golds about 10 years ago I don't recall seeing that many people benching more than 315 or so. Every gym has a few strong dudes I guess, but most people just go there to lose weight, use the machines, etc.
-
If you want to see big numbers in the bench, squat and dead, just go to any APF/APC, WPO, UPA, IPF powerliftint event. Of course these are with gear (suits and some wraps), but even the women are putting up huge numbers. Check out http://www.powerliftingwatch.com/all-posts
-
I curl 315lbs all the time. The first time I did it, I was training with Lee Priest. You see many people in Hawaii throwing that weight around like feathers.

I know a handful of guys that workout at NazBar. That's a haven for power lifters. Alot of strong men and women there.
-
Steve? Who is that? ???
Your new boss. ::)
-
the gym i used to train at is owned by paul graham, there were some big fuckers there benching close to 500 pounds...
i also used to train with the world powerlifting champion (under 70kg class) he would deadlift close to 600 pounds, considering he only weighs about 150-160 pounds that a shitload of weight
-
in my gym biggest bench is around 385-95lbs for one with a pause
biggest squat ass to grass raw 440lbs
biggest deadlift is around 580lbs
my gym has a friendly atmosphere there are gyms where numerous ppl bench plus 5, dead 6and a half 700lbs squat 600 etc...there are about

video proof?

Well, I don't know where these gyms are but I used to lift at this gym called Big Daddy's (which was a dump - most of the equipment was about twenty years old but it was only $150 a year). There was this guy who would come in with a giant gym bag full of crap (chaulk, powder, protein shakers, wraps, clothes, etc...). He would squeeze into a Benchshirt (which took him about ten minutes) & then do four or five sets with 225 banging out about 5-6 reps per set (whole thing probably took forty-five minutes). Guy was probably about 24 or 25 & still wore his varsity jacket & high school football shirt(s).
-
I bench 950 for reps of 80 like its going out of style
Nice. How many sets do you average?
-
Your new boss. ::)

I know but it was pretty funny to watch - the guy thought he was really hardcore.
-
I've only seen a few guys in MY LIFE that lift big and have something to show for it.
365 incline for easy 8-I spotted him for safety
5 platex1 flat bench
Same guy as above did a 5 plate deadliftx4
545 bench-fat powerlifter but strong as hell
2 guys doing 5 plate squat ATG (one was the guy doing the incline)
Other than that it is guys doing 225 inclines for 1/4 reps, 275 benches for 1/4 reps and 125 db presses for 1/2 reps with the loud weight drop and MMA stare while walking around with ILS.
-

Hahaha. I hope you are kidding. He is a big dude (125 lb db press) but I am not impressed with guys that lift poorly and get up acting like they DB pressed like Ronnie Coleman. If you saw the dudes at my gym, most have big biceps from curling nonstop and big triceps from their "lockout" benches. Other than that they are average. I'm no mass monster by any means but I wouldn't crack jokes about them if they lifted heavy with full ROM.
-
Hahaha. I hope you are kidding.
I was referring to the "MMA stare while walking around with ILS."

Lol. No, his MMA buddy always throws me dirty stares and says shit to his buddies about me (so that I can hear) but never talks to me, which cracks me up. This is a guy who walks in and shadow boxes his buddies before lifting.

next time they shadow box you should just bust out laughing loud enough for them to hear.

Nah...but he thought it was.

315 behind the neck for reps is not an incredible feat of strength you dildo.
just because 135 makes you think your shoulders are going to pop out of joint does not mean everyone is a fat, weak wannabe such as yourself.
hope this helps.
-
Friend i lifted with in college was 5-10 270, benched 520 squat/deadlifted 700+........he was on anadrol forever and competed in PLing. He eventually came off after a couple of years, shrunk down to 235.
That wasnt as impressive as a friend ive known since high school who benched 425 naturally at a body weight of about 210-215. I can only imagine what he would do on anadrol, probably 600+

See you try to make it like I bullshit yet NO WHERE on here did I ever say "EVERYONE" benches 500. But since you obviously live where SquadFatter lives and don't train in a REAL gym, before you look as stupid as SquadFatter, try visiting a real gym. Honestly you guys who post shit like no one benches 315 or you have never seen someone bench 500 you either are full of shit pretending to even workout or you live in a fucking hole. Get out in the world and see whats out there. Now saying that, I am back in the gym and by Christmas I will be benching 400+ again. With that I will be benching more than anyone I have seen in the gyms I go to here in Vegas. The problem with that though is I am training at 24 Hour and there are just a bunch of guy looking for pussy and don't really train. I wish I went to Gold's but until I get back into half way decent shape I want to stay away from there. SO maybe you guys who never seen a 500 bench or 315 miltary train at 24 Hour Fitness or the Y. The I see why you would never see it. This is the first time I have had to train at a place that really offers no motivation to get stronger. Just some nice pussy.

Bald Fat Shawn, go back to MD already ::)

There are 3 friends of mine in the same gym juiced to the gills.
The gifted one can do a 500 pound bench and a 700+ squat for reps i was his plate loader.
Hes 6,2 between 280 and 300 depending on what he is using very lean.
These three guys get crowds around them when they lift, they love it
-

There was a kid at APF Nationals this past June that lifted in the 148 class. he squatted over 600 (650, if I recall correctly), benched 350+ and deadlifted @ 500.
Incredible.

I believe it. But SquadFatter and the others who don't train will find it impossible. What amazes me are the guys who look like they can't or don't lift who come into the gym and are just incredible. This one japanese guy in Honolulu, looks like a normal guy. He weighs about 185 maybe 190 and he benches 405 maybe 5 or 6 times fairly easy. I have never seen him go heavy but he throws that up like nothing. No big arms or thick chest. Just a normal guy strong as shit.
-
Ive seen a 150 pound physics teacher, about 45 years old-nerdy looking guy with red hair and buck teeth incline 405. He does concentration curls with the 85 pound d-bells.
-
Bald Fat Shawn, go back to MD already ::)
Hi Master Blaster ::)
-
in a gym back home i've seen two guys able to bench 500lbs, both were huge guys one an ifbb pro justin rhys. He also did 315 for rep behind the neck whilst still working up. Anyway he did 495lbs for reps and sometimes would go above just because he could. The other guy was also a big guy not quite Justin's size but still big and on gear a lot of the time. He would also incline 405 for reps his goal was a 5 plate incline, i never saw him do that. Justin's site is www.bigkiwi.co.nz (http://www.bigkiwi.co.nz) he's currently in prison for selling drugs to help him pay for gear and such. Doing about 5 years i believe.

unlike you i dont lift at '...LA fitness/ 24 hours...and those other types of chains...'
try training at a real gym- one without the chrome dumbells that you are so seemingly infatuated with and you might see people who unlike you, dont look like aerobics instructors or the girls in your spin class.
fucking simp.

Come on now, obviously I was exaggerating about everyone being that strong in your gym. We are talking about most gym around the world and how these poundages are not common in most gyms. I have trained in gyms where there are a lot of bb competitors, even some pros, competitive powerlifters, etc. And seeing 500lb+ raw benches is still a pretty rare sight. Look in this thread, guys naming gyms with lots of big dudes and good powerlifters and saying how rare these lifts still are.
I remember reading in Flex mag how the Wheeler/Cormier crew was the strongest in Gold's Venice and Wheeler was putting up like 420 on incline and Cormier doing 495 for a single. These feats were worthy of writing articles about. Cormier was said to be the strongest incliner there. Look at what Coleman was doing in his video on the bench. Johnnie Jackson does a few sloppy reps with 4 plates and he is also thought of as one of the strongest pros. Yet your gym has tons of skinny guys with no muscle doing the same or better.
-

Hahaha okay you beast of a lifter. I bet you put Coleman to shame. What the hell are you talking about with all this crap? It sounds like you are obsessed with the 140 lb male trainer that your gym asked to leave because they caught you two swapping spit in the showers.

he's trying to find a gym that has benches and cardio equipment built strong enough to support his 800 pound bodyweight.

I think it's sad. I myself put in hard cardio sessions and some days eat nothing but nuts, vitamins and grape juice. but that's just me.

yea, yea, yea same old shit from your piehole. Dude you are boring now. Big talk, from a guy who doesn't lift only reads about shit he talks about and comes off like he is the most experienced guy in the industry. Dude go outside, get out of the trailer and at least go to the YWCA or somewhere and lift something. My so-called lack of training over the past 5+ years still surpasses your training regime buy a mile.
Please keep in mind you are on Getbig to stir up things. You aren't here to be part of serious discussions. Know you place. You are the resident joke. If you know this and remember it, you will not constantly look like an idiot to the people on here that actually belong and contribute here. Hope this helps.

On a serious note, are there really bb's that bicep curl 300 pounds?
Why would you want to do that?
There's a video floating around of Magnus Samuelsson doing them for a few reps...good reps too. He also does a couple of other impressive lifts in the vid...good raw bench but cant remember what.

I train in London and have been for the last 4 years or so...out of the 5/6 gyms that i've been a member of, in every single one it is a rarity to see anyone bench over 100kg (225lb)...
Admittedly none of these gyms were 'hardcore', but they weren't exactly women only either.
Loving how 'no one' is epically self-owning in this thread without even realising it.

Hey Onlyme, theres a website powerliftinguk.com where Andy Bolton is a mod, i take it you know who he is?
I pmed him asking about a 405lb behind the neck press, Which is common as shit in your gym! ::)
H replied, saying its bullshit and maybe just maybe someone could do a couple reps to THE FRONT. not bnp!!!

That is not a gym sorry. There are a few high schools in Hawaii where everyone of those lifts you posted would be shattered. How about a 16 year kid who SNATCHES over 300.
to be fair all these lifts are on a thick dead weight bar. non oly bar. so add up to 60-70lbs on squat and dead maybe more. also obviously no one juices at my gym
its a normal gym. seeing a 75kg lifter squat 240kg at anotehr gym is way more impressive
also belfast only has a population of 400,000 max...and football, gaelic football hurling, boxing and rioting are more popular sports ;D

... i'm only about 190, can rep with the 100s and am not particularly strong...I admit this guy is unusually strong but there are plenty of very strong naturals out there.
wow.
your a fucking MONSTER.
lol.
sorry pencil, but anyone who says no one benches more than 225 where they workout is the ultimate in 'self- owning'.
i suggested cap try working out in a real gym, now i think maybe you and he should just stay at Curves.
it seemingly best suits your level of 'development'.
lol.
dildo.

315 behind the neck for reps is not an incredible feat of strength you dildo.
just because 135 makes you think your shoulders are going to pop out of joint does not mean everyone is a fat, weak wannabe such as yourself.
hope this helps.
hahahahahahhaa, ok "no one" i forgot you warm up with 315 behind the neck on your way to your top set with 600. ::)

nice try, fatty.
i know that you harbour very large insecurities about your physique, or lack thereof, judging from your constant voyeurism where it concerns other lifters.
try developing a body that you won't be inclined to use draperies to clothe yourself with and maybe you'd be a little less resentful about being fat and slovenly.
you'll always need the internet to buoy your inadaquacies of being a lard-o, but maybe you'll learn to be more comfortable in your own skin, as much of it as there is.
no need to thank me.

Really did he call you stupid like I am calling you. Way to embarrass yourself. I never said 405 BNP was common at my gym. Are you suffering from Goodrumism. I said Joe Onasai did it easy then did 500 BNP live on the news. Now, to try and redeem your stupidity, go back and mention Joe Onasai. Also, call Gold's Gym in Honolulu around 5pm there time. Ask for Joe or one of the powerlifters in the back and asked them if Joe did that. Or call up the news station and see if you can get a tape. Till then you are a moron. But, hey you aren't alone.
