i finally scanned this pic from flex 2003 june issue....
in a future issue one of ernies fans wrote in and asked him if he really did 405 extensions ernie said yes...
:-\
-
Oiled filled tris should easily be able to push that kind of weight
-
faker than Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and Bigfoot traveling to Atlantis.
-
fake weights.
he should be ashamed of himself.

So I guess his triceps are not synthol after all, huh?
-
100% real ::)
Seriously though, would anyone be able to do 405 for tri extensions?
-
everytime i see that pic it makes me laugh
;D ;D ;D

100% real ::)

Think about it, how would he get the weight into position? Someone going to hand it off to him? No. Is he going to lift it overhead by himself? No.
Why do they lie? :'(
-
not a spotter in sight...hahha
i ften wonder why they make up these kies in the magazine...
imagine what a pic like this does to a first time reader who has no clue ...
-
Shows you what fat Peter McGough and the rest of the Flex editors think about the intelligence of their readers.

::)

Good point, it cannot be real.
-
Not to mention the fact that 405 behind his head like that would rip his shoulders out of their sockets.

he also said he never used synthol in his tri's either, he does sound like a trust worthy kinda guy
-
"Chris Lund doesn't use fake plates"
-
didn't arvilla claim that at his peak he could do 315lb seated tri extensions?
lmao..even that sounds impossible
-
he would flip over with that weight
-
100% real ::)

Yeah Ernie Taylor
ta ta
-
So he'd basically have to deadlift that up to his lap, then throw it up to his shoulder, shoulder press it over his head, then do reps with it as tri extensions?
:) ... lol ...

Precisely.

HAHAHHA...
THATS A BODY GIANT SET
-
He must have titanium joints - imagine slowly repping out with 405 while cracking noises fill the gym :'(
He should have been shot for his silly tris - destroyed his awesome physique.
-
I can`t see how the weight is moving.....a clip will tell more....
maybe he used a higher octane oil for this workout.... ::)
-
(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/lucas78/ernietaylor.jpg)
I'm sorry, but that pic just upsets me! >:(
Far past annoyance >:(
-
he would flip over with that weight
Exactly
-
hahahahhaa, i guess that means he benches 1000 for reps. :o ::)
-
I don't know about "limits" in this exercise but surely 315 is almost superhuman. Isn't 405 an exaggeration that is wayyy beyond plausible?
-
The picture looks like 2 picture, the smaller left side with the 4 plates, an the rest (which looks like 2 plates...)

weights don't mean shit if your body looks like shit

Fake plates used for the mag pics. If that was a true 405lbs, his arms would have snapped like a couple of twigs. People can't even bench that weight and he's doing over head extenetions with it? I call bullshit, pro or not.

I know exactly what Flex are doing in this article. They are trying to imply that because Ernie Taylor has big triceps (whatever they are composed of) - that he has world class strength in triceps movements.
I don't know whether we should "care". I think its pretty safe to say, we should think that is stupid.
Years previously, on this board, Guy Grundy gave Ernie Taylor the chance to prove himself and his triceps, Ernie did what all self respecting men who are hiding something do in immediately challenging him to a fight ;D
-
I not 100% sure if he has synthol in his tris.. but i know
no way is he doin extensions with that weight its not the fact that hes using fake plates that makes me laugh
its when the fan wrote in and ernie said yes i did use that weight for extensions...
as sarcasm said if he can do that weight on extensions then he should be benching 700 raw easy for reps
-
Hey vince taylor fucker, i know you can hear me you bastard. You re a scumbag, a phony. You fuckin fairy!

i know what ur sayin..
-
haha who the hell would believe that claim? And someone needs to show me where I can find me a 45 ez bar to do tricep extensions with because to my knowledge they only weight 25lbs and even with 4 plates that no 405.
-
maybe it's possible with some advil for the pain in the joints ;D
-
my first post people, it is fake!

fake weights.
he should be ashamed of himself.
Reminds me of those Tom & Jerry cartoons where Tom is pressing 100 lb and Jerry comes and writes an extra "0" at the end, so that the weights are supposedly 1,000 lbs, and Tom goes crashing through the floor (though he maintains perfect form).

hahahhaa, i fucckin' love those cartoons, my favorites are the episodes where the house where Tom and Jerry live have the fat black maid who always beats Tom with the broom after Jerry sets him up somehow. ;D

And all for plastic trophies, and the admiration of homosexuals..... :-\
-
that weight would flip you right out of the fucking seat
-
Maybe Ernie and FLEX magazine defied the laws of gravity?
-
that weight would flip you right out of the fucking seat
That's what I was thinking. I was wondering why no one brought that up.
-

It was brought up at least two times.
he would flip over with that weight
-
This claim is up there with Muscletech's 1760% size and strength gain
-
same plates that nasser used for his 495lb incline bench.
-
i dont think a 495 incline is impossible...
what ernie taylor is "doing" in that pic is damn near impossible..

coleman did 405 for 12
thats after bench preses to 495 and all that with a tricepp elbow injury
if he had started with that movement he could have done 495 kevin did 405 for 10 reps... after 495 bench presses again if he had started with that movement he could have done 495..
so 495 is very possible
heck im 200 and i can do 315 incline for 4... 5 reps.. and i HATE incline barbell press with a passion and rarely do it
495 is very possible

actually Ronnie did 405 for 7 on his own and 2 assisted after hitting 495 for 4 on his own and 1 assisted, i would put his incline single at 455-465, still world class.

If RC did 7 @ 405 on inclines AFTER a few reps of flats @ 495, then I think RC could hit 405 for 10 reps on incline.
If you add 10 pounds on for every rep to get a 1RM (405x10=405+100=5051RM), then RC could do 495 for a 1RM on incline.

with an elbow injury..
also remember 200 incline dumbell presses for 8
after pyramiding up 200lb flat presses for 12
and pyramiding up to 2oolb incline
at peak i see 405 as been no problem for coleman

elbow injuries, 400 -% + $ x # divided by *, grandma's funeral week before, menstrual cycle, blah blah blah
show me a clip of ronnie doing incline bench with 495 or STFU.
thankyou.

What ever happened to Ernie Taylor? When and why did he stop competing?!

As in permanent damage done to him resulting from synthol? Is this a confirmed fact?

tricep maintenance cost = too high.

What's he doing now? Serious answer please.

That's a nice clip of him doing 405 pound extensions, douchebag ::)

Who's credited for taking the photo? IF it is Chris Lund, I'd be more inclined to believe it being a true lift (Chris Lund is notorious for putting BBer's through hellish workouts during photo shoots).

4 plates dude?
come on now.
-
Inclines and seat tri extensions are two different animals: one is a compound movement; the other .a single joint. Just think about how much you can flye compared to how much you can bench; how much you leg extension, to how much you can squat.
This claim is less believable than Joe Loco's 400lb bench as a 15 year old.

Is there anybody on this planet that can do that weight with that exercise?
-
And still no one has revealed Ernie Taylor's current occupation...I can only assume it is unknown.

Look at the two inner plates on the left hand side. There are three marks exactly the same, but looks as if someone rotated the plates...however the three marks are identical. Looks like someone had fun with photoshop; since the poster that mentioned the right hand side only looks to have two plates on it (true, at least I agree with this), I looked closer for identifiable marks, and low and behold there are some.
Whoever did this, probably did the same Tom Prince photoshop where he had 405 on the bar, and TP was saying he couldn't do that weight anymore due to his injuries.
