I mentioned in a thread that my IQ (last time I checked, over 12 years ago) is 126.
Jaguar claims her IQ is 34 points higher than mine= Jaguar's IQ is allegedly 160!

/iq's, regardless of testing method, are not discrete but fluid measures with a +/- 10 points or so. it's amazing that those who so readily post their stellar iqs don't acknowledge or know this. ::)

actually I was 137 all through elementary school. It sure didn't make that much of a difference in real life. People way lower make way more money. It did give me the ability to remember things and think of different angles on things. As a result, I make an 'okay' living working from home, and I'm very happy.
I have seen studies done... in real life, those at 100 and those at 130 make the same amount of $.

She's not close to having a 160 IQ, the odds of that = 1:31560, and since she's black the odds are even lower (since blacks have a lover average IQ) An IQ of 160 blows the ceiling of many standard IQ tests, and to prove her claim she needs to be tested by a psychologist as an adult with a specially selected test.
Either she's lying or having taken a bogus test. Until she posts an adult score from a psychologist, she's just full of BS.

the IQ is a pointless test. and i say that as someone who's a bit on the upper end of the curve. if i felt like a high score meant fuck all i'd be more than happy to toss it out like a defensive squid shooting ink, but as far as i'm concerned if you're at the point where your "defense" is to mention your IQ, you're basically saying "i had the potential to be really smart, but somehow i still ended up dumb as a brick."

That is bullshit STORK. If you look at the science behind IQ, it actually means a lot, especially when correlated with other factors like crime, academic achievement and so on for big groups of people.
For individuals it does not matter that much though, hard work and persistence matters a lot more, although you can not expect two kids where one has an 85 IQ and the other one has a 145 IQ to achieve the same result in high school for example.

Agreed. And it is not like you can hope to radically change the person with an 85 IQ, since the IQ is partially genetic in nature and relates to the physical characteristics of the brain.
Unfortunately, the 85IQ thing becomes even more visible when you have a whole society with people with IQ's in the 80s/low 90s. In a modern society with people of all types, the structures of society is solid enough too enable "the 85 guy" to live a good life where he can do work that is suitable for him. Unfortunately, when you have an entire society of people with low intelligence, the drawbacks becomes more visible. Very high crime, poor organization of society, poor average education and a very poor economy (unless they have natural resources floating around or some "trademark" product in high demand). And this is not meant as a pwning, its just reality. The whole culture and functioning of the society = built around the functioning and thinking processes of a person with the IQ's in the 80s, thus, it will resemble a society with the mentality of very young people, and it's not very suprising that most "85IQ" societies functions like the social dynamic of kids :-\
You can compare the last example to a group of 1 million people, all with every genetic marker for "high risk of Altzeimers". The group can live a healthy lifestyle and all, but they will simply have a tremendous amount of Altzeimers compared to a group of 1 million people where nobody has any of the genetic markers for Altzeimers.

149 when i was five on that goofy little blocks text. then at somewhere around 160-162 when i was sixteen. funny thing is, i never get much above 120 or so when i take one of those online tests. so who knows what my score ACTUALLY is. ::)

A professionally administred IQ test, the Mensa admissions test or the online Mensa tests are good IQ tests that gives a reliable score.

Mensa = a common platform for gifted people wanting to socialize and do things together (and many intellectually gifted people have a need to communicate on "high levels" that most people can not help them with, and being a member of Mensa can be be helpful to satisfy this need) Mensa also have "Sig's" (Special interest groups) in various areas where Mensa members can enjoy their special interests together with like minded individuals.

oh the sat is the new version out of 2400... on the writing protion is where i fucked myself.. some artsy liberal question about how does the arts effect people ... i wrote some kind of response about how that shit doesnt matter..lol.... i got a 2 out of 12 :-X

Madness might also explain why Kasparov got himself involved in Russian politics, a classic blunder. 'Course, the most famous blunder is never get involved in a land war in Asia. :D

IQ tests are very similar to a chess game, you need to visualize sequences in your mind which is exactly what a chess player does.
You can build a test that will fit a different population and they will score high...thats why these tests are not to be taken too seriously.
Don't take this as me belittling these master chess players capabilities.

You did not adress Debusseys Chris Langan/Dick Rosner post. They did teh Ron Hoeflin tests, but LAngan was also tested by a Dr. Robert Novelly and was rapported as having "20/20" intelligence, the highest Dr. Novelly has seen "in 25 years of doing this".
Debussey think it's fair to say that Chris Langan might be the man with the highest IQ. Estimates vary between 190 - 210. Also remember the flynn effect when evaluating Bobby Fischers score.
At the same time, Chris Langan tried the Mega Test twice, the first time under the name "Eric Heart" and scored 172, but he claimed to not spend a sufficient amount of time on it. Then, he retried it and set a record score.

Debussey disagrees. Many people with top 2% IQ's = not "wildly successful". In the local Mensa chapter where Debussey lives, most members are students or regular workers not earning a "very high salary" (IQ does correlate with income, but Fags and Vinces chosen line of work = not a suitable way to discredit their IQ claims). It might be a little bit different in the states though.

Debussey does not agree completely. Remember, 40 - 80% of IQ is probably genetic in nature, and 20% related to "teh environment". Doing math give you some training in analyzing problems and planning a solution which could translate into a few % quicker thinking + better concentration when being faced with problems one does not have much knowledge about on beforehand. (thus scoring better on "speed IQ tests").
Thus, doing a ton of math might help you gain a point or 3 on your IQ score, thus a small correlation might exist (although this is somewhat speculative on Debusseys part). Fuck, a lot of different things have correlated with boosting your IQ score somewhat, like short term memory training for example, and other mental exercises.
Addition: Even having done a lot of mental aritmetic will probably give you a slight advantage on the number sequences due to being able to analyze the number sequences a bit quicker. The correlation might not be strong, but its at least not something one can rule out (unless you have some research on this)
At the same time, Chris Langan beat those PH.D's because he flat out has better genes for brainpower than them. At the same time, Langan has taught himself advanced mathematics and other other advanced academic disciplines without going to college/university, so it is not like he does not have a lot experience with math and other academic areas although he = missing the "formal training". (Attending class is a waste of time anyway, you can learn pretty much anything much quicker by yourself than listening to some slow ass teacher mumbling for 2 hours about something you can grasp within 10 minutes on your own).

No, because taking courses in maths has no bearing on your score, moron. Try to understand this: IQ tests do not require any math knowledge from you besides being able to count. There are guys without a college education that get higher IQ scores than the majority of PhD mathematicians. An example? Christopher Michael Langan, who scored 174+ on the Mega Test without having a single year of college, a score that was higher than that of all 300 PhD mathematicians who took the test. So once again, you fail. ;)

They are used as sequences of numbers that require logical thinking to be solved and not any esoteric knowledge of math, like differential geometry or topology. Anyone who can count and has no further knowledge of mathematics can solve even the hardest of these sequences if they are intelligent enough, but a PhD in math will not be able to solve the hardest of these sequences despite his monster knowledge of math if he is not intelligent enough. Same with matrix's, there are classic examples that once you learn them you can improve your score exponentially.
Push to the right matrix.
Combine and delete common part matrix.
Rotate X degrees and add Y matrix.
I can go on and on. If you want something that I found to be quite nice and improve certain aspects that you might consider as as the peripherals to IQ register at lumosity.com , the games are very fun orientated and improve some abilities that directly correlate to what you consider IQ....all beside the amazing logic you praise...and claim you got 213IQ of ::)

Yes, but IQ tests do indeed predict success in life in general. That is why the US and Canadian Forces have been using them for years as entrance requirements. They are predictive, that can't be denied.
