i think the best meal is gonna depend on what your current goal is and what your lean body mass is

my favorite meal is lean ground beef with black beans and flax seed...super sow digesting carbs, super slow digesting proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids.  to me, THAT is perfect.

but what do i know ?  :D

being a natural bodybuilder you should definitely not play down the post workout/pre workout time period dude.

in reality its yoru only real time for making real solid good gains.

and no slow digesting meat is gonna give you that anabolic effect of whey...

just buy the cheap shit dude, and drink like 2 scoops before and after yoru workout

this will help you tremendously

i prefer something easely digestable pre workout like oat meal and a whey shake. at least before back and leg workouts. i tend to get nauseous sometimes on those workouts.

post workout whey shake again. followed closely by a big meal with fish or chicken usually.

My preworkout meal is a protein shake mixed with non-fat milk (300 cals and about 50 grams of protein), along with a banana (100 cals and 2g of protein) chased down with six or seven dextrose tablets and a cup of strong coffee.

My post workout meal immediately after finishing training is a Meal Replacement Drink (about 290 cals, 44g of protein and 22g of carbs) and another banana.

My next meal is about an hour after this which is 120grams of chicken breast with about 100 grams of rice mixed with a low-fat curry sauce.

the people with the best physiques in this thread care more about the trianing and it shows.

the people with generally the worst focus on diet.

training is more important than diet.

I dont care how teh food works or how my body uses it. I would rather want to know how to train properly and look like i train.

goudy speaks the truth. i laugh at people who go on and on about diet. just make sure you eat enough (caloric surplus...+500 calories/day is a good guideline with sufficient protein).

and eating enough food should be simple for most people.

Why would you say the PRE workout period is important to have fast acting protein? the body is not depleted or anything like that which it is POST wo...

Why not a solid meal with slow digesting carbs and protein like oatmeal & eggs (1-2hrs before the wo) for example? why do you see a need for whey BEFORE the WO?

your actually going to benefit more from pre workout whey than post workout whey, dude; if its only one or the other

 :)

this is because in intense workouts, like the ones us bodybuilkders do, the body gets about 80% of its energy from amino acid breakdown.

obviously, your not going to supply this amount of amino acids from some kind of meat protein that slowly digests "trickle" like.. you need a high concentration of amino acids in the blood in order to prevent muscle breakdown.. this occurs from whey protein

Do you take it right before the WO? i used to do that, but i don't like my body to be in the middle of digesting something while i'm training. I know meat digests slowly, but what about eggs, tuna, chicken, cod 1-2hrs before? should be perfect imo...

Pretty simple stuff right now.  Pre workout I usually do some pineapple with bcaas and post workout I do BCAAS, Creatine, Ground beef or steak.  I may have some more carbs depending on how intense the workout was.

that's enough food, why is it that the guys who supposedly eat a million calories a day are always small, this "aliamini" clown weighs 157 pounds of hairy, skinny/fat and his PWO meal was huge. ::)

I only weigh 210 and I am 15-20% bf. I don't even need to eat alot when I am trying to gain muscle. 2000-2500 cals/day while dieting and 3000-3500 if I am trying to gain.

Best thing to do pre workout?

-Come home from work, take a nice huge shit, wash your balls/ass, get a nice blow job, take a 30 minute power nap while your eca kicks in, grab a nice whole wheat bagel and banana...then go crush it! ;)

bullshit, the pictures i've seen of you you look all of 160 pounds with more hair on your skinny arms than most people have on their head, the only way you're 225-230 pounds is if you're 7 feet tall. ::)
