Ok.  WHY do you think so, as opposed to blueberries, or potatoes, or pancakes, or blueberry pancakes with hashbrowns, 4 scrambled eggs, and a linconshire sausage?

i would give you advice if you seriously wanted my opinion and ithought you might follow what i said

but i know yoru hard headed, you think you know everything, and that even with a good explanation as to why bananas are a poor choice (any fruit for that matter)..you would still eat it.

fine

i really dont care wat you eat bro

the only time you would ever eat fruit as a body builder is if you got super intensely accurate with your diet and you know exactly how to diet and you incorporated some fructose into a carb cycling diet...   but that is getting super techinical and im sure this kind of thing is far above the basics most of you still need to learn....

Rip, get in the kitchen.

Nobody cares about my abilities to decipher gh15's posts.  Ananas = pineapple!!!

Pineapples allegedly aid in digestion of proteins, hence whey many of the old schoolers (e.g. Rheo Blair and particularly Vince Gironda) used to advise their "clients" to eat pineapple with steak for a pre-contest workout.

Also, they would have their clients take digestive enzymes with high protein meals.

You were probaly morbidly obese. You stopped eating lard and lost weight. Well done though you should have never bene that fat ever. Most of your loss was due to not being a fat pig. Not your groundbreaking nutritional vast vault of knowledge.

The body can adapt. The body can eat lots of different food.

Now i am being genuine what do you recommend pre workout as a food?

Im with candcumdrizzle on the banana thing, but i seriously dont think it matters what or how much you eat post workout.
Have a scoop of whey like 45 min prior to training so you have some aminos in the blood to spare muscle tissue with some carbs for energy and you're good to go.

somehow candi hasn't realized that the entirety of his accomplishments can be distilled to "not eating like a retard" and "doing anything in the weight room". he's done nothing superlative that would support the massive amount of arrogance and know-it-all attitude. cheers for the progress, jeers for the self-described expert status.

theres nothing wrong with eating ANYTHING in moderation if the rest of your diet is in check

 :)

goudy said banas are perfect food for post workout. which is wrong. so i corrected him.

im not "anti banana"

i love bananas !  :D

but from a nutritional stand point fruits are natures dessert and they are designed to put fat on your body
Makes no sense, unless they are part of a diet that it strongly calorie surplus-oriented -ie. fruits have no fat.

non fat milk

do some research..    non fat milk has been provento reduce fat mass, although the mechanism of action is still unclear.

non fat milk is simply slow digesting sugars with 80% casien protein and 20% whey protein.

thats awesome.

and?

fruist are majority fructose. fructose can only be utlized by the liver. if you eat fructose when your liver is full of glycogen, or if you eat more than your liver can hold, the rest goes immidietly to adipose.

the liver is very small and only holds a very smal amount of glycogen.

even in a caloric deficit, a small amount of fructose when the liver is full will add to adipose.

i  dont keep a workout olog or anything like that and i dont track my strength i just make sure to workout till the muscle is fried every time. i like to keep most of my sets to failure in the 6-12 rep range... but sometimes ill do that then drop the weight and hit failure at like 6 then drop the weight hit failure  again.. ect..     i also do forced negatives aot, since i think eccentric is where you grow and concentrentic is wher eyou get strong

yup, good thinking on the fiber to carb ratio... i do the same thing...

but oatmeal is GLUCOSE, banana is FRUCTOSE

BIG difference

i never mentioned how fast bananas digest, that wasnt the discussioon

what is the big difference between fructose and glucose?
a number of things

main one being that the entire body(including the liver) can utlizie glucose for energy; while fructose can only be utilized by the liver, which is very small and spills over very easily. even in a "caloric defecit" asurplus of fructose contributes to adipose.

there are also differences in of that fructose does not stimulate leptin, or insulin at all.

Hmm. A full liver in a calorie deficit environment!? Well, in the real world, if you're on a calorie deficit diet, there is zero chance of putting on fat by eating fruit. Probably get diarrhea before that happens.

sure. you might have depleted liver, most people do when dieting. but lets say you eat that first banana. BOOM. liver is now full. eat another one? FAT STOREAGE  ;) ..yes, even if you have eaten less calories than youve burned that day...    "a calorie isnt always a calorie" as i like to say  :D

I'll agree with this adage of yours, but what you're talking is more likely to happen with a soda rather than fruit (and yeah, I understand the different sugars/carbs). As for bananas, you're more likely to get full first before any weight gain by fat. Fruit on a diet will not add fat weight. You're kinda setting up a strawman to make a point, here.

Hmm. Read my post again, and then go and eat six nanas in succession - you will get full. Eat the same amount of green grapes, say, and you're likely to get diarrhea. But these are just silly parameters. If you have a good diet, don't for a second think that you're gonna get fat from eating fruit. It'll be your cheeseburger, fries or soda - but you already know this. Stop worrying about the details, my friend, and take care of the large stuff. Micromanaging shit will always f*ck you up.  :)

All this shit is great, but can you prove your claims with results from your own physique? I think someone said you where on the sauce, so is it the sauce, or all this information you read on the web?

The way you speak, reminds me of the person who knows every angle when it comes to training methods, but looks no better than a person who sticks to the basics, and trains hard. I'm not knocking you -( you are doing great), but I would like to see the results from all this information.

I used to work with a national level competitor, who gave me all kinda of nutritional advice, ratios and programs.... I don't see any difference at all sticking to my caloric needs, eating sensible foods, and training the same way.

Before, I was eating calories at certain times, eating only certain types of carbs and spazing out about every type of calorie I took in....... I don't see much difference at all in my gains these days, and all I'm doing is keeping it simple. If I followed a diet you wrote, how much better would my physique be, 20% - 30%?

WELL, okay thats wrong, IF YOUR GOING TO SERIOUSLY SUPER MICROMANAGE your diet...then there is a protocol during a carb cyclign diet that requires small precise amounts of fructose spread evenly thorughout the day..... but i wont even begin to start on that because that would seriousl fly way over your head if you cant even graps the difference between ccarbs from oatmeal and carbs from banana

I'm not knocking you, or trying to put you down..... I really want to know if your information would make a difference. I am currently taking 3 tabs fish oil per day, and also the omega I get from a natural peanut butter. I need more?
need? no. 3 caps a day should eliminate any risk of DEFECIENCY.  but you can definitely see some awesome results form mega dosing fish oil. charles poliquin is a advocate of short term intakes of 40 grams per day or more.    the reason being that fish oil increases insulin sensitivity, boosts metabolism, boosts protein synthesis, and at such high doses makes lipogensis very unlikely unless your consuming a huge amount of calories.

i dont really support EXTRA fats in the diet besides whats in your protein, whats in your meat, and then of course supplemental efa's (i prefer fish oil and evening primrose oil in a ratio of 2=1)

try taking 3 caps with every meal to start

avoid fish oil post workout for about an hour though

i didn't say there wasn't a difference between carbs from fruit and carbs from oatmeal, i said the simple carbs and potassium in the bananas is probably better PWO.
your better off with SODIUM than potassium to be honest  :D banana isnt simple carbs either, as bast demonstrated with the fiber to carb ratio in a banana and oatmeal being very similar their digestion rates are very similar as well...  and fructose isnt the kind of carb you want any way

i think lack of sodium is most likely the primary cause of crampping in alot of bodybuilders...not lack of potassium
