Moose or Quaker, what is your opinions on the reason this type of look is VERY rare to the general bb population? I mean hardly ANY top pros get this even for olympia. I mean he cant have SOME INCREDIBLE SECRET thats just for him? This should be more possible for others i mean get ur cycle perfect and only eat sandpaper and whey.

the funny thing is that Alex himself says that he doesn't go extremely low carb at all pre contest, i think he does a shitload of cardio and also has great genetics.

I would venture that Alex lives the lifestyle 24/7/365...never ever deviates from his plan...and....he has a PLAN....you'd be surprised at how many just wallow about without a well-circumscribed, thought-out plan.

Attention to detail.

HAHA Asking Squadfather/Quakeroats about achieving a low bodyfat and holding low water is like asking Ted Bundy how to be a considerate lover.

All we can see is a blurry image with stupidly long shorts on and arm and vest covering torso and camera covering face lol.The only thing we can take from the pic is the love handles and a 17inch chubby arm.Take my deal, youll see all the pics you want.

why is grainy skin something desirable?  it doesn't let you see the muscles any clearer.  in fact, it distracts from the muscle striations.

Grainy skin comes only from absolutly no water left in you and of course muscle maturity. People think they are shredded but shredded as this guy Alex A, it would take 10 minutes before a drop comes out of him in a sauna thats how dry his skin is and grainy.

grainy skin, like protruding stomachs, should be penalized in judging, not rewarded.  grainy skin has no bearing on muscle mass, symmetry or proportionality.

Penalized? WTF??? One could possibly argue that it shouldn't be as prized as muscle mass, symmetry or proportion but it's far from devastating to the physique. I don't know anyone else who'd agree with penalizing lifters for coming in super dry.

What planet did you say you were from. Listen carefully and learn from someone who knows OK...... The lower you drop your bodyfat the more conditioned you are, hence the more impressive you look, are you with me so far. Grainy skin is a condition of being ultra ripped, ten thousand time harder to reach then any other body type you can think of, common sense it takes more pain to get there, more knowledge, and more balls, therefore more reward from the judges, use your head.

Only because that package in the picture wasn't the one he brought on stage, last minute mistakes, other wise Alex would be part of the IFBB.

Thanks for the post, and sorry i haven't contributed much.

Im 13 weeks out for another run at the nationals, i really want to make it happen this time.

keeping busy helping guys with upcoming shows, my daughter is almost 3 years old and my wife is pregnant. Life could not be more busy.  when it comes to contest prep im a machine. Not the best genetics or by far the biggest but will literally shred every bit of fat i can off my body. And to me, its fun. Anyways..

Things are going good, shopping for food, cooking, cleaning, working, my daughter, wife, home, training, cardio and diet keeps me structured.

I know this sounds like a kiss ass thing to say but you guys are really cool and keep it real.
It takes balls to post your pics on this board because you guys dont bullshit and fuck around. If you look great you get respect, if you look like shit you get the truth. No bullshit..
Any bodybuilder who wants to know how their progress is coming along just post up on Getbig, that should be real motivation. You guys gave me a good push last year and i plan on sharing again. Keep an eye out for me in 11 weeks.

Im busy as shit but anyone who has contest prep questions, or just wants to bullshit,  just drop me a PM or email.. All you cool guys keep in touch.. thanks

Let me just add one thing about my contest. I was the first competitor called out in the second round. There were 26 guys in my class, i ended up tied for 7th which was as good as last for me.   I totally over tanned myself, had extremely too much oil on and dropped about 7lbs in 2 days.  It was a great competition, not to take away nothing from anyone but the guy who got second only lost the class by 2 points and placed fifth to me when i won at the USA..

The 4 hour flight and  time change and travel contributed to my demise, along with other petty problems such as no fridge or microwave in my room that was supposed to be there..
No fucking excuses, i fucked up! And i really shouldnt have. My prep for this show went awesome. But travel fucked me up.  I have never traveled to compete before.. I live In los Angeles  all the big shows are out here except the Nationals.

I totally underestimated how difficult it is to do this shit.  and get it all together, especially by yourself..  In a few days i dropped a little over 7 lbs.. No excuses, i fucked up.. but did you see that i needed to lose 7 lbs in that pic..? by 2 weeks out(i posted those pics) .

ONETIMEHARD: dude you nailed it. Grainy ness is all about having your bodyfat lowwwwww.....Grainy is just an elusion of low bodyfat because all you see mostly skin and muscle very little fat.. So if you want to get shredded or grainy get lean......its easier said than done!

Bodybuilding didn't use to be about how close to death you can get and still walk across the stage.  It use to be about creating the ideal physique.    Unfortunately that era was probably before you were born.

Its funny how the old school era will always think that the bodybuilders of their day were better bodybuilder, and believe me I think the GH guts today are out of control with 50% of bodybuilders, however the shredded guys today smoke the guys from the 70, in fact 80 % of the 70 bodybuilders couldn't even win a local show and the condition of the past... well.... I can achieve this condition while drinking beer everyday, my word, A few greats  ya, but for the most part its a greater challange in this era to break through bodybuilding and win titles. So excuse me if you don't approve of the risk, but challanges of this magnetude are not supposed to feel good, be easy, fun, laid back, have agood time. Torture, dedication, sufferment, discipline, courage, knowledge, persistance, mentally fit and you must dig deep in to ones soul to pull it off. If you bash this then it would be no different then you bashing mountain climbing, long distance running, soccer, and almost every professional endeavor because their is cualties in these fields and the risk is dangerous, but understanding how this type of approach can sooth your spirit is the reason why the stubborn courages exel.

keeping busy helping guys with upcoming shows, my daughter is almost 3 years old and my wife is pregnant.

All you cool guys keep in touch.. thanks

How could you impregnate your wife whilst juicing?; high amounts of anabolic steroids render you temporarily infertile.

Ultra Low bodyfat should never make someone feel awful.  Its amazing how people think that it must be that way.

Ultra low bodyfat will make many or most feel awful. There's really no way around it, even with pharmacological intervention it's tough. There's a bunch of systems that rebel. Could be compared to a depressed state mentally since neurochemicals for example change for the worse.

I think what makes someone feel awful is inadequate nutrient content in their foods.  Oatmeal or rice is not a good choice when it comes to nutrient content. Couple that with the ignorance many have regarding the importance of fruit and you certainly are setting yourself up for misery as your body is demanding these vitamins and minerals, phytochemicals that can only be had through fruits and combination eating.

Multivitamins will not suffice.  If someone feels awful on a diet it is a clear sign their body is lacking a nutrient or mineral.  Most traditional "bodybuilder" diets are horrible.

Phytochemicals will not fix the dopamine, norepinephrine, leptin etc signals that are affected when you're below your set-point. Testosterone will be low too, as will your thyroid.

Even then you will feel awful because your body still demands more of everything.

Do you think you'll be maintaining normal testosterone if you eat enough fruit? We know test goes down dramatically when energy and fat intake is low. You're not going to feel great with castrate test levels, which is what an ultra ripped true natural bb competitor will likely have at contest time. Take that guy you posted pics of, the guy who eats 7 grams of fat a day. The body will rebel in a number of ways eating like that.

I see what you are saying.

But

Go to Fogarty's site....take a look at the pics of each Mr. A/National's winner from 60's, 70's, 80's...they'd ALL stand up today.

I'm certain that Adam's continual insistence that everything's fine (i.e. too easy) is in large part due to some significant degree of delusion that he's managed to put in charge of monitoring his internal state.  That is not to say that he is necessarily disadvantaged because of this.  Actually it's most likely quite the opposite.  His mind bends to achieve his goals, and the same can be said for Alex.  It is requisite to the cutting process I have decided.  It's why I say "now that's sick" in response to Alex here; I mean it literally.  It's essentially how the Spartans in 300 had conditioned themselves to crave death, if only they could ever BE killed.

And first of all I don't take 3 g's if I stated I was going to try it for a period of 4 weeks then thats all I did, however I usually hover around the 2 g mark per week and it is considered very mild in comparison to the pros, but don't be so stupid as to think that juice will turn you into Ronnie Colman when the fact of the matter is juice is one varible, nessessary of course, out 10 that is needed in order to be competitive in todays arena. I've been dieting for 2 weeks and I have 10 to go sitting at 235 with abs so don't talk to me as if your in my league, you are a fat bodybuilder wanabe. If you move 405 on deads for 20 reps to the ground, Deep squat 400 fopr 12 to the ground, and do tricep extentions with 2 plates per side then I will listen to you but you can match these lifts, you don't get down to 2 % like me and you never in 10 life times have striated glutes like me, but there is one think you got me beat at 24 hours a day on getbig and you still look like you do.

You can eat pizza and drink whatever you like and get equally ripped.  If you know what you are doing.

Bodybuilding didn't use to be about how close to death you can get and still walk across the stage.  It use to be about creating the ideal physique.    Unfortunately that era was probably before you were born.

Probably so, but i want to share this with everyone.  I was in such a zone, i felt great.. My bodyfat was freaky, i was cutting my face shaving each day.. i loved this shit,,, i was even sleeping good at night. I thank the guys that were concerned about my health but man, i really felt fine.
