Jointheimpact.com helped stage a massive nationwide rally on Saturday.
Cool stuff.
STR8s against H8, baby!

i would hug that bitch from behind.

I agree, this whole thing with gay marriage is ridiculous. Let them marry and call it marriage who gives a shit? Anyone who cares so much about another persons sexuality usually are closet cases. Also, i'd take a free hug from the chick in the middle pic.
-
Tre,
You seem awfully in touch with the homosexual's plight.
Is there something you'd like to share with us? :)

I'm the asshole with the (decent) looks, the money, the hot women, and the cool-ass life who for reason decides to devote his time and money to fighting for the underdog. :)
Plus, it *really* helps with the women... ;)

LOL @ even on the wrong boards!!
Did you make it out on Saturday, Tim? I know that things have been pretty constant down in LA since the election, but wasn't sure if you guys had ramped it up even further on Saturday.

Hahaha!
It's going to take educated people with good hearts to work to open the minds of those who fear the idea of across-the-board equality.
Many people don't even know why they're opposed to same-gender couples, just as they don't know why they oppose the use of marijuana by adults who know it isn't harmful for them.
I'll admit that I haven't always done all that I could possibly do to improve the world around me, but this culture war gives me a chance to live up to my potential and I'm bringing all my resources to the fight. The Catholics, Mormons and other faith-centered hate groups have awakened a sleeping giant.

Them shutting up about it would make the world a better place. I don't actually care but hope they get it so there's one less lame issue for people to argue over. Personally, I wonder what the desperate need for the state and society to legitimize same sex relationships says about the community as a whole.

The fact is that a LOT of the gays and their supporters would be quiet and go home if the rights, privileges, and protections were the exact same for civil unions/domestic partnerships as they are for marriages AND if that was true for every state.
One suggestion being tossed about is to get the state completely out of the business of marriage. Anyone who wants to can register with the state as a DP (pay the fee, etc), but then anyone who wanted to get 'married' - after all, churches are claiming they own all that turf - would do so at the church of their choice.

I honestly doubt anything would make them STFU, LOL! Once gay marriage becomes law then it has to be taught in schools, then people have to take sensitivity training, etc.... it's a never ending thing. You're really only talking one cultural aspect to they are complaining about.
It's America, people get bored and want a cause to make themselves feel connected to something bigger. A lot of people are probably glad (secretly) about how the votes went because their cause will get even more attention. If it stayed law everyone would be like "STFU about gay marriage already, it's legal!!"

True dat. Some people *love* a fight, no question...and many of those same people *want* to be persecuted, even though they're making $400,000/year and own a home in Hidden Hills. Yeah, persecute ME! lol

I would ljust like to say that homosexual men make me very uncomfortable but I believe they should have equal rights as well even though I am nervous about them and don't like to think about them having sex.
I don't dislike any homosexual except for Rosie donnell and Derek anthony.
But they still deserve to marry each other.

The cause would have lost momentum with it's most attention grabbing issue resolved.

Currently, we have bigger problems then homos getting married. Just let them get married, so we can deal with the issues at hand.

No, HT!!!
It's the world's most important issue and further evidence about how the religious right has hoodwinked blacks. :)

As a proud Westboro Baptist, i'm not sure i can support this... :-\

Sacramento here. Huge crowd, excellent speakers, good support by the police.
It's definitely going to be up to us straight guys (and women) with big voices and a lot of passion to bring America into the light.

Nobody likes fags. It was voted down, get over it. Even in California.
-
it's up to EVERYONE! it really pisses me off....they've actually determined that it was largely the obama-supporting black voting population that enabled the prop to pass. you're black, aren't you, tre? wtf happened??? "we want change!....but the fags can't be happy" god DAMN aren't they all fighting for the same thing?
-
Nobody likes fags. It was voted down, get over it. Even in California.
the prop was ONLY in california...not "even in california"....moron...
and it was voted IN...not DOWN..it passed...
f'ing moron
nobody likes you.
-
no there was a similar prop in other states. gay marriage was voted down. your fag marriage is null and void.
-
yeah...similar props in states like connecticut...and vermont....where they now
ALLOW gay marriage.......
wow you really don't pay attention to shit, do you???
that's why there's such an uproar....people thought gay marriage would still be legal in
california and be banned in the other states....but the opposite happened.
christ go buy a newspaper. I hope you don't ever talk politics in social circles.
McCain didn't win, by the way...
just in case you're walking around talking about how awesome it is that palin is the new vp
-
Dude the people voted and they decided they didn't want some deviant group getting the right to call their buttf(cking buddies their husbands. It's a democracy, you guys lost.
Get over it. I'm so sick of these "persecuted" gays. Once they get this, it will be something else.
What kind of people go to others places of worship and harass them? That is just low.
-
yes...because a democracy should certainly have the right to choose who is allowed to love who.
and whatchoo mean, who would go to others' places of worship to harass them???? the fucking churches themselves do it every day! EVERY fucking day they protest whatever shit they think is wrong. EVERY day.
I find it ironic....every person who is against gay marriage says things that are just so unintelligent and poorly thought out. how close-minded are you?? if gay people shouldn't be allowed to get married, stupid people shouldn't be allowed to speak. ;)
boosh
-
What other countries allow gay marriage?
-
sweden, spain, denmark, the netherlands, canada, mexico city...just to name a few

belgium, south africa, norway....

What are you talking about? No one is telling you who you can or can not love. People voted on whether a deviant group should be allowed to call their partnership marraige. They voted to ban it, essentially.
I personally don't care either way...I would certainly be against if the sanctity of marraige was respected in this country, but it clearly is not so if gays want to marry I wouldn't go out of my way to stop them.
I was referring to gay protestors in Cali who went and interrupted Sunday church services in a Mormon church. What right do they have to harass people while they are trying to pray/worship, whatever.
I'm not sure what churches you are talkin about protesting whatever they think is wrong EVERY day. My church (well the church i went to growing up) certainly rarely protests. They respect others rights to have their own viewpoint. Most intelligent people would realize that protesting in a provocative and aggressive manner usually doesn't accomplish much.
-
have you ever watched porn? ...if so, you're a deviant. deviant.
and you don't call the Mormon religion spending $22million to stop gay marriage "aggressive"?
you said the church you went to growing up "rarely" protested. um, "rarely" is still protesting.
if holding hands and showing signs of peace and love is "provocative" to you...well shit...you must
have some deeeeep-ass suppressed emotions and issues.
I'd fight to my dying breath for my sister to have the right to marry her hot famous girlfriend.

Fuck these fucking homo assed queer-bates and what they demand. They all want to be accepted and push their shit assed (pun intended) ass ramming ways on everyone. The reason they want marriage rights is for acceptance. The government grants marital rights to Man and Woman do to one thing and one thing only. It has nothing to do with religion. The government sees man and woman as breeders of the new crop. The new tax payers the new soldiers builders and so on. Queer-bates cannot make babies...............so what do they do. They go to the baby store and rent one and play fucking parent and puke out the idea that two carpet munching lesbos make better parents than man and women. I am so sick of all these fucked up insane people screwing this country up. I say give them and all the f'ing hippes an isolated island to live on. there has to be some Navy target practice Ilse out there.
-
yeah....geez...who'd throw a fit about not being able to get married?
sure, the millions of fat lazy straight people who will never find love have
every right to agree that people who actually CAN find someone who wants
to marry them should be just as unhappy.
or the rednecks fucking their sisters....yeah....ya know, if they can't
be proud and public about who they are, neither can the homos!!!
we all love to see two hot chicks 69'ing (but only the hot ones)
but damnit if they can exchange wedding vows!
sure, the sanctity heterosexual marriage only has a 50% success rate..
but fags and dykes don't deserve that 50% chance at happiness!!
where's my catholic priest???? I need to ask his advice..HE'S a man
with morals!!!
::)
-
The government sees man and woman as breeders of the new crop.
yeah, man!! yeahhhhhh!!!! good thing all the of the most intelligent people in our
country are breeding!! yeahhhhhhhhhh!!!!
oh...oh wait...oh no.....the most intelligent and successful of our modern society
are waiting until later in their lives to choose to have children...waiting for financial
security and being quite wise about the child-raising process....with many and many
more of them in fact choosing simply not to even have children at all, with other
successful couples raising an increasing number of smaller families....
wait..wait now......then...who's breeding..?? where's this "new crop" coming from!?!
oh FUCK!!!! it's sallie jo!! ya know, she works at kfc. she doesn't believe in abortion
and is raising those 6 kids on her own!! it's okay, tax-payer dollars help.
and bubba, working down at the bar...yeah...he's working on his 4th kid with 3 different mothers.
hellllllllzz yeah we gots us a GREAT new crop comin' in!!
AMERICA!!!! fuck yeah....

Companies should not be allowed to make things in certain sizes. There is no legitimate reason to make spandex, two piece bathing suits, thongs, etc... beyond reasonable sizes. Same thing goes for muscle shirts in small, LOL!

never coming out. (pun intended. you'd be a horrible representative of the gay community)

Relax, Tre. High blood pressure kills, ni&&as. :)
It was more or less hyperbole. Isn't anyone curious what the extent to which the definition can be changed? Couldn't a pet-lover very easily marry a dog so health insurance would have to cover Vet bills. Do you know how expensive Vets are?!?!! :) And hell, someone that married a cat would never go without pussy again. :)
Expand your mind, Tre.

If a person has a private backyard ceremony and marries his pet, I'm just not capable of giving a shit.

there is a long history of bigots comparing homosexuality to pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia. it is bigotry at its worse. as if the true love that two consenting adults feel towards each other is no different than abusive sex with an unconsenting child, animal or dead person.
why are we so passionate about this? because it is about love. the love that I feel towards the one that I want to marry is just as real and intense and valid as the love that you feel towards the one that you want to marry.

So you're not against pet commitment ceremonies. :) What if the petwit demands fluffy get legal benefits?
In general, we're a society of extremes. People against changing the definition of marriage might be protecting something you don't 'get'. Just because a lot of them are opposing the idea from a religious perspective doesn't necessarily mean they're wrong or that religion is the only reason someone oppose the idea.
I don't really care and can see both sides of the issue have legit points.
come on man, you're too smart for that "slippery slope" bullshit.
Homeland security is a perfect example of a slippery slope. We're not a society that moderates itself well.
first, you need to pay attention to who you're replying to

Let me get this straight. Proponents of this social change have been doing everything possible to bootstrap their issue to blacks and civil rights for years yet have to be in perfect control of any comparison made about them?! It's silly and no one owns the language on issues.
As far as love goes.. I can't call total bullshit but we both know there are bigger societal issues associated with changing the actual legal definition of marriage. If it were simply about love people wouldn't need the state's recognition. Society doesn't run on love and there are probably reasons beyond bigotry, homophobia, zealotry, etc... that people may be averse to the idea.
I think people are nursing the fantasy that legalizing gay marriage will magically make homosexuality OK socially. That would be like thinking the civil rights act of 1964 eliminated racism. Changing the law doesn't automatically mean society will change.
To quote Mr. Spock: "Having is not so great a thing as wanting. I know it isn't logical, but it is very often true." Can't remember the year. :)
-

It's about money, true.
But larger than that is perpetuating the notion that a person is less a person than you simply because they're different.
What I don't get is the Yes on 8 crowd's commitment to perpetuating prejudice in that manner. And if you're going to stand for something, own it - don't back down and claim it's not your fault when you're trying to train kids that fags are something that must be 'tolerated'.
-
So anyone who disagrees on this issue, for whatever reason, is either ignorant or bigoted?
not at all. based on several arguments discussed here, some people are. everything
you've said is almost completely true and I can't really disagree with you.
you're right, society isn't based entirely on love and "it" isn't completely about
love. A big part of it is about equality.
the one thing you're wrong about is about it being "ok" in society. they don't want
acceptance. they want the same rights as everyone else. sure, racism wasn't eliminated,
but who cares? they got the rights they wanted. it's not about how it affects straight
families, it's how it affects homosexual families. they want the rights.
I don't want to offend you. I actually really enjoy a lot of your posts and respect you
as an intelligent and well-spoken individual. however, we, as straight people, can't
think of this as something that is going to affect us or change our lives. they just want the
same as what we have.
-
I think people are nursing the fantasy that legalizing gay marriage will magically make homosexuality OK socially. That would be like thinking the civil rights act of 1964 eliminated racism. Changing the law doesn't automatically mean society will change.
psst. homosexuality is already ok in many parts of society
young people coming of age and old people dying off is usually how society changes. and just like young people have less of a problem with a black president, they are much more supportive of gay rights.
-
None of you read deep enough, LOL! I don't believe being gay is a bad thing.
By "OK", "Normal" or typical, I mean people want to feel less like outsiders in comparison to mainstream society. That's why my opinion is that people will ultimately be disappointed when gay marriage is finally legal. 'Recognition' by the state, me or anyone else isn't going to make sweeping changes on how gays view the world.
By 'OK', I meant okay for gay people and a significant change in how they relate to themselves and the world.

I don't believe being gay is normal, just like being left-handed isn't normal. To be normal is to be part of the norm. Hell I'm a lefty and the world is made for right-handed people. >:(
Differences are what make live interesting. People shouldn't be punished for differences as long as they are not hurting anybody. IMO
-
drkaje, you say we're not reading deep enough, but i don't believe you are. gays don't want to be accepted. THEY ALREADY ARE. they're fine with themselves. they have their support systems. they could give a rat's freckled ass about what the fag-hater thinks of them. ALL they want to do is be able to get married. getting married doesn't signify 'acceptance' to them. it just means they can get married like everyone else!! they know people hate them, and they know the people they actually care about love them. equal RIGHTS...not equal acceptance. sheesh i guarantee you the first fag you see on the street corner has 10x the friends any of us do. those mofo's know how to network!

I'm no expert, LOL!
-
haha yeah sometimes i'm ashamed to say that i AM an expert.
that's what happens when your sister is with a famous lesbian.
well...famous in the business world at least. they get me
involved in a lot of political functions as well as a lot of jobs
in national gay-owned business. *Sigh*
straight...good-looking...and gay-supportive.....they use me
like an ambassador.
-
If a person has a private backyard ceremony and marries his pet, I'm just not capable of giving a shit.
Two gay people can have a quite ceremony in their backyard and nobody gives a shit. The problem is being legally married.
-

most of the straight people I have known who have befriended gays have benefited greatly, whether it is a job or getting invited to the best parties and clubs. Thats why I just figure the haters are only hurting themselves. This is true at least in big cities.
-
i would hug that bitch from behind.
haha

It was a gay joke, LOL!
I'll be less subtle next time. :)
-
i understood that it was a joke. and i was explaining why i know a lot about the issue. gay people don't really expect straights to understand a lot of that stuff. and even though it was a joke, what you said was still true.

I more or less figured you had first hand experience. :)
At any rate, I sort of doubt the world will come to an end with either change. People will overreact and in the long run things will probably end up about the same as they are now with the exception of divorce. New York recognizes same sex marriages performed in other states but there may be people who try filing outside of their licensed states.
If all else fails, maybe people uninterested in marriage could sell their rights.

;D ;D ;D

haha...yeah..i have to dissappoint a lot of men in that community. *Shrugs* no dark side for me. not now, not ever.
the thing that gets me is i just don't understand what opposers have to lose by letting them get married?
some people act like letting gays wed means their own marriages won't be valid anymore. wtf? how does it affect those people?
a lot of the mormons are explaining this by saying that if they're allowed to marry then that means they'll have to teach it to children in school. *gasp* !!!

oh no, think of the children......

They put it to a vote. Sorry queers.
We tried that in California.
They all went and assaulted old ladies and vandalized stuff.
-
What real American stands for equal taxation without equal rights, privileges, and protections?
-
If it's supposed to be about equal rights, then I have a long list of things I want to whine and complain and protest about. Maybe if I block off some streets, jump on top of cop cars, beat up a few Mormons, the Judicial system will hear my case. ::)
I have yet to hear one good argument why the law should be changed.
Speaking of "equal rights", any of you guys know when the next annual "Straight White Male" Parade is ???
-
have you ever watched porn? ...if so, you're a deviant. deviant.
and you don't call the Mormon religion spending $22million to stop gay marriage "aggressive"?
you said the church you went to growing up "rarely" protested. um, "rarely" is still protesting.
if holding hands and showing signs of peace and love is "provocative" to you...well shit...you must
have some deeeeep-ass suppressed emotions and issues.
I'd fight to my dying breath for my sister to have the right to marry her hot famous girlfriend.
boosh
Occasionally I watch porn, however as a male in the age group of 18-34 i am certainly not a deviant in doing so. BTW, i was not using deviant in a negative connotation, just as an adjective.
As for the Mormon church, I know fuck all about it. I think I've met about 3 mormons in my life. I work with one, she seems nice enough (doesn't drink at all though). I think they ddo have a problem if they spend $22 million on some bullshit like this. There are starving children around the world who could have used $22 million worth of clean water and bread.
The church I went to actually never protested, but they did pass on information on the Right to Life march every year.
The youtube clip I saw was not people holding hands and showing peace signs. It may not be representative of all the protests, but then again I haven't been following this too closely. I do know that the people have spoken and the motion has passed....deal with it.
If California is too narrow minded for you, there is always Oregon.
-
When did your sister know she was lesbian?
If the Mormon church spent 22 million, how much does the Gay lobby spend every year promoting their issues? How much did they spend on this campaign? I'm sure it was a lot more than $22 million, and if it wasn't then they should have expected to lose.

Not a very complicated perspective, people on the other side just can't accept it. Redefining marriage moves society further away from what some figure is God's plan. Especially considering two such individuals wouldn't be naturally producing children.
Lose?! Hard to say. Maybe it's a part of their identity you don't understand. Failure to understand what they're 'losing' doesn't necessarily make their position wrong or that there wouldn't be a loss. Just like wanting something doesn't make it a right.
It will be interesting to see how things play out but I don't care enough to follow the issue.

I don't care enough to follow the issue.
You will. >:(

interesting perspective. I can see that.
oh religion...*sigh*

ow nooooooooooo...it certainly wasn't that much. guess they just had faith in their fellow man. always sucks to be let down. yup.
and my sister knew when she was about 4 years old. she says she didn't know what it was called, but she remembers just knowing that she'd never really want to be with a man like that. not in a loving way. but she knew she LOVED women. heh...she had she biggest crushes on linda carter as wonder woman and lindsey wagner as the bionic woman.
-
Mormons are some horrible people and one of the main forces that have ruined Southern California. If they only put that much money into the environment maybe Southern California would have some open space left, instead they raped the beautiful hills to build their McMansions. They could care less about the environment and they absolutely hate their neighbors. Dont trust them for a second.
"Under the Banner of Heaven, A Story of Violent Faith" is a good book that tells the truth about this dangerous religion and it's hypocritical followers.

Speaking of "equal rights", any of you guys know when the next annual "Straight White Male" Parade is ???
um, every day is straight white male day
-
What country are you from, Tre? :)
It's surprising how many people there are who are over 30-32 years old and know fuck all about the history of social justice in this country.
More surprising than that, maybe, is the number of Mormons who either don't know their own history or are too blind to recognize the hypocrisy in their actions.

There's no requirement for everyone to fit into anyone else's view of 'God's Plan'.
Either we have free will or we don't and if don't then either:
1) the God they talk about isn't real
or
2) the plan they championed follows that of Satan (who, according to them, did not want anyone to have free will)
-
um, every day is straight white male day
Really ??? I must not get the news channel that show that, or the talk show hosts/actors that flaunt it.

Because your sister sluts herself out to someone supposedly "famous", doesn't mean everyone has to accept it.

Mormons didn't even allow black members until the 70s, LOL!
I'm 42 and familiar enough with the social injustice of our country. From the internment camps for the Japanese to the Civil Rights act of 1964 it's been proven over and over again that Mark Twain was right when he said: Is it, perhaps, possible that there are two kinds of Civilization -- one for home consumption and one for the heathen market?
Both sides may be right about this issue, but for different reasons.
Chaos, I probably won't start caring. The debate is more interesting than the actual issue. I do see your point. You feel straights (against 8) are full of shit because they only take up this cause if it affects them.
-

I certainly hope we reopen the internment camps soon. I just want to handpick who gets interned.

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left was left to speak up.
-----------
And that is why I fight.

If you hadn't ended up marrying a Mormon this probably would have never hit your radar.
In theory, marriage could be redefined to mean anything. That being said, a majority of straight couples marry because they either want or have children. First thing people ask a couple is "when are you going to have children?" and God forbid a woman goes too long without having a baby, LOL!

BTW, I still have seen no convincing argument to change the law, "it's their right" is not an argument.

hows it going tre? so being a mormon hypocrite what dont i understand? so what is the deal with gays and lesbians that said yes on 8? i personally know at least 5 homosexuals that said yes on 8. and i know at least 10 others from other states that feel the same way. the homosexual communtity hates and spits on these people, so tell me why arent the people that preach equality, the most fair and accepting people of there own community? and why arent homosexuals accepting of peoples right to disagree with them, they preach what they do is there business, so why isnt it the other sides right to disagree with gay marriage.
-
so why isnt it the other sides right to disagree with gay marriage.
you can disagree all you want. don't like gay marriage? don't get gay married. church doesn't approve of gay marriage? church doesn't have to gay marry people. where you cross the line is when you try to have the state enforce your beliefs on me, taking away my rights and benefits.
its like if a predominately jewish or moslem country required by law others to eat kosher.
-

I didn't realize sexual orientation = special rights.
Where will it end?
Would you support legalization of polygamy Tim?

we didnt force the state, we sponsored a bill and 52% of californians agreed with the bill. and i can promise you that if we the bill didnt pass we wont be vandanlising gay clubs or protesting them because they supported what they believe

Yes. We farmers are pissed about Prop 2, so we are going to go burn down a few grocery stores and beat up a few elderly next week....

Why should the law of your religion be the law of the land?
Forcing others to abide by your religious beliefs contradicts the concept of free will. Why don't you understand that?

polygamy is actually the most widely practiced form of marriage in the entire world.

How many states is it legal in?

Equal rights?! I don't want to be fucked from behind >:(
-
How many states is it legal in?
Zero.
It's legal in the Mormons state of mind and a few other religious sects. I'm not curious enough about what they've got going on to see if the someone is pushing for multiple marriage licenses. Seems like multiple 'real' marriages would get ugly when women escaped from the church, LOL!

it is only forcing people when a minority group is forcing the majority to believe or have something that they dont want. the state had a fair and open vote, the majority won, the majority is not in favor of gay marriage. i am not taking away anybodys free will, homosexauls have the right to be gay, that is there right. what i find funny is that you are attacking the church, when it was the black and latino vote that carried the bill. and being a black man why arent attacking other black men or latinos?
