haha...yeah..i have to dissappoint a lot of men in that community.  *Shrugs*  no dark side for me. not now, not ever.
the thing that gets me is i just don't understand what opposers have to lose by letting them get married?
some people act like letting gays wed means their own marriages won't be valid anymore. wtf?  how does it affect those people?
a lot of the mormons are explaining this by saying that if they're allowed to marry then that means they'll have to teach it to children in school.  *gasp*  !!!
oh no, think of the children......

They put it to a vote.  Sorry queers.

We tried that in California.

They all went and assaulted old ladies and vandalized stuff.

What real American stands for equal taxation without equal rights, privileges, and protections?

If it's supposed to be about equal rights, then I have a long list of things I want to whine and complain and protest about. Maybe if I block off some streets, jump on top of cop cars, beat up a few Mormons, the Judicial system will hear my case. ::)

I have yet to hear one good argument why the law should be changed.

Speaking of "equal rights", any of you guys know when the next annual "Straight White Male" Parade is ???

have you ever watched porn?  ...if so, you're a deviant.  deviant.

and you don't call the Mormon religion spending $22million to stop gay marriage "aggressive"?

you said the church you went to growing up "rarely" protested. um, "rarely" is still protesting.

if holding hands and showing signs of peace and love is "provocative" to you...well shit...you must
have some deeeeep-ass suppressed emotions and issues.

I'd fight to my dying breath for my sister to have the right to marry her hot famous girlfriend.
boosh

Occasionally I watch porn, however as a male in the age group of 18-34 i am certainly not a deviant in doing so.  BTW, i was not using deviant in a negative connotation, just as an adjective.

As for the Mormon church, I know fuck all about it.  I think I've met about 3 mormons in my life. I work with one, she seems nice enough (doesn't drink at all though). I think they ddo have a problem if they spend $22 million on some bullshit like this.  There are starving children around the world who could have used $22 million worth of clean water and bread.

The church I went to actually never protested, but they did pass on information on the Right to Life march every year.

The youtube clip I saw was not people holding hands and showing peace signs.  It may not be representative of all the protests, but then again I haven't been following this too closely.  I do know that the people have spoken and the motion has passed....deal with it.

If California is too narrow minded for you, there is always Oregon.
Valhalla awaits.

When did your sister know she was lesbian?

If the Mormon church spent 22 million, how much does the Gay lobby spend every year promoting their issues? How much did they spend on this campaign? I'm sure it was a lot more than $22 million, and if it wasn't then they should have expected to lose.

Valhalla awaits.

Not a very complicated perspective, people  on the other side just can't accept it. Redefining marriage moves society further away from what some figure is God's plan. Especially considering two such individuals wouldn't be naturally producing children.

Lose?! Hard to say. Maybe it's a part of their identity you don't understand. Failure to understand what they're 'losing' doesn't necessarily make their position wrong or that there wouldn't be a loss. Just like wanting something doesn't make it a right.

It will be interesting to see how things play out but I don't care enough to follow the issue.

ow nooooooooooo...it certainly wasn't that much.  guess they just had faith in their fellow man. always sucks to be let down. yup.

and my sister knew when she was about 4 years old.  she says she didn't know what it was called, but she remembers just knowing that she'd never really want to be with a man like that.  not in a loving way.  but she knew she LOVED women.  heh...she had she biggest crushes on linda carter as wonder woman and lindsey wagner as the bionic woman.

Mormons are some horrible people and one of the main forces that have ruined Southern California. If they only put that much money into the environment maybe Southern California would have some open space left, instead they raped the beautiful hills to build their McMansions.  They could care less about the environment and they absolutely hate their neighbors. Dont trust them for a second.

"Under the Banner of Heaven, A Story of Violent Faith" is a good book that tells the truth about this dangerous religion and it's hypocritical followers.

It's surprising how many people there are who are over 30-32 years old and know fuck all about the history of social justice in this country.

More surprising than that, maybe, is the number of Mormons who either don't know their own history or are too blind to recognize the hypocrisy in their actions.

There's no requirement for everyone to fit into anyone else's view of 'God's Plan'.

Either we have free will or we don't and if don't then either:

1) the God they talk about isn't real

or

2) the plan they championed follows that of Satan (who, according to them, did not want anyone to have free will)

Mormons didn't even allow black members until the 70s, LOL!

I'm 42 and familiar enough with the social injustice of our country. From the internment camps for the Japanese to the Civil Rights act of 1964 it's been proven over and over again that Mark Twain was right when he said: Is it, perhaps, possible that there are two kinds of Civilization -- one for home consumption and one for the heathen market?

Both sides may be right about this issue, but for different reasons.

Chaos, I probably won't start caring. The debate is more interesting than the actual issue. I do see your point. You feel straights (against 8) are full of shit because they only take up this cause if it affects them.

I certainly hope we reopen the internment camps soon.  I just want to handpick who gets interned.

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left was left to speak up.

-----------

And that is why I fight.

Oh please, LOL!

If you hadn't ended up marrying a Mormon this probably would have never hit your radar.

In theory, marriage could be redefined to mean anything. That being said, a majority of straight couples marry because they either want or have children. First thing people ask a couple is "when are you going to have children?" and God forbid a woman goes too long without having a baby, LOL!

hows it going tre? so being a mormon hypocrite what dont i understand? so what is the deal with gays and lesbians that said yes on 8? i personally know at least 5 homosexuals that said yes on 8. and i know at least 10 others from other states that feel the same way. the homosexual communtity hates and spits on these people, so tell me why arent the people that preach equality, the most fair and accepting people of there own community? and why arent homosexuals accepting of peoples right to disagree with them, they preach what they do is there business, so why isnt it the other sides right to disagree with gay marriage.

so why isnt it the other sides right to disagree with gay marriage.

you can disagree all you want.  don't like gay marriage?  don't get gay married.  church doesn't approve of gay marriage?  church doesn't have to gay marry people.    where you cross the line is when you try to have the state enforce your beliefs on me, taking away my rights and benefits.

its like if a predominately jewish or moslem country required by law others to eat kosher.
