Title: Your best lifts relative to your bodyweight
Post by: wavelength on November 21, 2008, 12:53:31 PM
Let's hear em. I'm talking full body weight, not lean body mass.

Mine are:
Squat: 2.0 x BW (374llbs @ 185lbs)
Bench: 1.4 x BW (264lbs @ 185lbs)
Deads: 1.9 x BW (352lbs @ 185lbs)

If you want, you can also include your status at that time (natural / juiced).

Do you do yours with the bench at a slightly below shoulder press incline?  If you know what I mean.

Never maxed but at 180ish weight:
Bench: 265 X 8
Deads:355 x 6 and should improve that this week hopefully
Haven't squatted in forever (use leg press or hack now)

Do you know the type I'm talking about?  It keeps me from trying to use as much momentum.

65's are very strong with good form.

Thanks for the compliment.

I'm terrible at explaining things sometimes.  I just take an adjustable bench and put it a couple of notches below 90 degrees, like into an incline position, and do them alternating.  It makes me use strictly biceps.

Few years ago without injury.
Natural.
BW=185
Bench=410 for 3
Hammer Curls=80 for 10(some swing on last 2-3)
T-Bar Rows= 6plates and a quarter for 6 reps.
Too much of a bitch to do real weight with squats or deads tho.. :)

Yeah, not bad. I just wish my legs looked like I could squat 315 for 20.   :(   They've gotten better over the past few years but haven't reached the development of my upper body.  No worries, I'll get there.

Yeah, that's a pic of me and my oldest son. It was taken less than two years ago.  I think I might have been around 220 then.  I've been as big as 228 but I hated it. I felt like I was dragging a Piano around on my back.

Pound for pound I'm not that strong. I've never tried a one-rep max on any lift in my life but here are mine anyway at a weight of 245lbs. And yes, it was juiced too.

Bench - 350lbs x 6
Deadlift - 465lbs x 5
Squat - 500lbs x 6

Ok, I will play.

I am natural, and always have been.

Bench: 455 at BW of 225 (raw, in the gym, after working sets)
Dips: 235 around waist at a BW of 235 for two.
Deadlift: 500 at a BW of 235 (bad back)
Squats: 495x4 followed by 315x20 at a BW of 235 (that was painful)
Shoulder Press:  315x2 at a BW of 225.

Never competed but I've been pretty much the same general shape since college. I've gained muscle mass over the years but the shape is generally the same. I'm currently about 218 and I'm 5ft 9.  The picture with the low body fat was taken a couple of years ago in Bangkok Thailand. I play for a softball team based out of Kuwait and we travel around playing tournaments.  We've been going to Bangkok for the past few years for the Bangkok International Softball Tournament. I intentionally drooped body fat for that one. Wanted to be at my best on the field, not to mention at the clubs in Bangkok and Pattaya Beach. lol   Heres a pic that was taken at the Dubai International Softball Tournament after we won the Championship game. As you can see I'm holding much more bodyfat.

Great genetics and work ethic obviously. Do you find it tough to get the meals in as well as hitting the gym with kids? Please don't tell me you eat whatever you want and get to the gym when you can, cuz if thats true i'm gonna give up weightlifting. :)

No, I use to be able to do that when I was younger and never held much body fat. Now, I have to watch what I eat when I want to get my body fat down like I had it in Bangkok. As far as the meals I'm in a pretty good situation.  I'm divorced and my boys stay with my X.  I've been working as a defense contractor overseas since 1995 and during that time I have been lucky enough to get a lot of my meals on base and for free. (all you can eat) I'll attach a pic of when I worked in Kosovo. I was the Manager for the employees operating all the military Fitness and Recreation centers in the country.  I had 24 hrs access to all the fitness centers as well as all you could eat dining facilities, some open 24/7.  All I wanted to do is eat and train.  Imagine how much size you can pack on when you eat as much good food as you want and can train as often as you'd like, pretty much anytime you like.  It was like a dream come true.  I also ran the military facilities in Kuwait and Southern Iraq for several years. So, pretty much no problem with food and opportunity to train. I'm currently working on a base in Iraq where I have access to all the food I want and there are several nice gyms on base to train. Although the dining facilities aren't 24hrs they do serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and midnight chow.  I usually hit them all.  (all you can eat at no charge) ;D  attached pic was taken back in 2001.

Awesome job.  When I was active duty, I squandered away time I should have been training.  Too much going out and way too much beer.

Incredible. It's good to hear you are taken care of over there. Being over in Iraq with decent gym facilities is probably a good way to clear the mind with such a stressful situation over there. Do the troops and others on base hit the gyms frequently or is that place basically a ghost town?

Actually, the troops get a lot of use out of the facilities. I ran a huge facility in Kuwait years ago with some of the best equipment I've seen in any gym.  We had 20+ treadmills and almost every hammer strength plate loaded machine that was out at that time.  That gym stayed packed. We had weightlifting competitions that were really successful and drew in big crowds.  Those were the days.

thanks for your service, looking sharp turnerg.. i also play softball, on  a competitive co ed team.. i struggle maintaining strength and size during season but that doesn't look like it's a problem for you

Actually I trim down during season but I kind of like that size.  I'm a lot smaller but the detail gives me the illusion of having more size.  If that makes any sense.  I'm working on trimming up right now without sacrificing to much mass.  Isn't that what it's all about? :-\

(sigh)

Very well.....

Bench on a good day  403 x 3  But usually I do straight sets of 315 x 9-10

Deadlift  I dont do this.  Im a puss.

Squats  anywhere from 315 -405     315 5 x 12   405 x 5 sets x 8ishiissssh

I do high reps on the leg press 15-25 reps

Straight bar curls  straight sets  3 x 135 8-10 reps

Military 3-4 sets x 8 x 225

It just depends on how im feeling though.  I dont really follow a "program"  I just workout certain muscle groups on certain days...

All natural.

Back in high school was the only time I went for stupid high weight (to me anyways).

These are all at a body weight of 172lbs and when I was more concerned about my 1Rm and being dumb in high school.

Bench: 315lb
Squat: 495lb

Dead: Don't know. Never did a 1RM here. Done 355x8 (183lbs bodyweight) before and that's about it.

Oh, I did weighted pull-ups today with a 60lb dumbell for 9 reps after doing deads. :-/

Bench 1.2:   235 @ 190
Squat 1.8:   335 @ 190
Dead  2.1:   405 @ 190

These are my best ratios.  I just finished bulking got up to 215 and my lifts have gone up.  Should probably bulk longer, but I just dumped my girlfriend so I need to lose some weight so I can get a hot girlfriend.  Then I can bulk again.  We'll see how much strength I keep.  I'll try to get to around 190-195.  Should be interesting to see the results.

505 x 2 Squat @ 225lbs
295 x 6 bench @ 245
495 x 2 dead  @ 225

I coulda gone heavier on squat and dead, but i don't trust heavy heavy weights.  this was also when i was 21, 5 years ago. the bench is my weakest lift and i was pretty chunky when i did that (245... not an ab in sight).  No idea what my bench max woulda been, probably shitty, haha.

Natural.
BW=185

T-Bar Rows= 6plates and a quarter for 6 reps.
Too much of a bitch to do real weight with squats or deads tho.. :)

Shoulder press 315 for 8 reps.
Bench 405 for 3 reps
Squat 500 for 3 reps

I don't deadlift.

I'm not a powerlifter.  I train like a bodybuilder but occassionally I try the max thing.

I'm 210 pounds.

This does not add up.  If you are shoulder pressing 315 for 8, you should be benching 405 for a hell of a lot more than 3 reps.

That would mean your max shoulder press is about 385 and your max bench is about 435.  What?

Squat 585 for 7, 355 for 20.     Deadlift 520 x1, 505 for 3,  rack deads from knees with 800 for 3.    Don't do regular benches but last Fri did 4 plates + a 10 on each side for 3 reps on the Smith Machine.  Other lifts - obviously the leg press.. 1375 on Hammer machine for 10,  Toe presses with 1285 for 8.  Barbell Rows 480 x 4.  Cheat curls 225 x 4. Dips  BW + 150 x 5.    Current BW 262 lbs at 6' 2".

I  lifted my fat self off a Bench today, so that was 250lbs of whale lard for one rep.
I did a full Squat on the bowl to take a dump, holding the TP< so that is 250 lb plus a 4 oz role of TP.
I never lifted a dead person but I hear dead wt is harder than live wt.

Let's hear em. I'm talking full body weight, not lean body mass.

Mine are:
Squat: 2.0 x BW (374llbs @ 185lbs)
Bench: 1.4 x BW (264lbs @ 185lbs)
Deads: 1.9 x BW (352lbs @ 185lbs)

If you want, you can also include your status at that time (natural / juiced).

best lifts i've done to date are..

675 dead
435 bench
635 squat

at 248 was when i did them all.. I'm at 260 right now trying to bring my bench back, I don't squat AT ALL anymore save maybe zercher squatting, and pulled 675 for a double off low pins. I want an 1150 or 1200 push pull total in the next year..

I've taken 300lb farmers handles for distance, am looking at a 20 rep set of 500lbs in the deads soon, and toss around 40k kettle bells like childs' toys.  I'm curious to see what my current single ply total would be in all 3. Last time I squatted, 585 was an easy double.
