I'm not debating anyone, I was just talking about the fact that people think they have a lot lower bodyfat % than they do and have no idea how low 10% and below is. I'm not talking about a person but the concept in general. And yes, she is nice. ;)

i dont know how you could tell from my routine.
i change things up a big, but here an average week, i dont work out more than 2 days in a row.
chest
back, traps and forearms
arms, shoulders,abs
legs
ive been training 4 years but i just started again in the beginning of september after a layoff.
iright now i am only benching 225x8 but i used to do 315x6-8

just because he's 6'2" and 235 at low bodyfat doesn't mean he'd look ANYTHING like arnold. a whole shitload of bodybuilders hopped on stage the same height and weight as arnie, how many Sandows do those guys have?
my guess is he's not quite 8% and that was an estimate, but i just remembered i have a container of who gives a fuck in the fridge that i need to go snag. ::)

Yeah I can see my serratus, all my abs, I can see the fibers/striations on the middle traps, upper chest, anterior delts, and I'm at 12% bodyfat. So, 8% would be really fucking ripped for me. Maybe there's a big difference between individuals as you suggest. That's interesting I haven't heard of it but probably very true.

Yup , a whole pile of other stuff comes into play also..
Muscle bellys,insertions,joint size etc etc..
So many other things than just weight,height and bf come into play

So true...But when you start getting into the realm of ripped glutes, its safe to say you probably are going south of 6.5%

I agree about the genetics but there is no one on the planet who is 12% and look super ripped from the back...Sure they may have great abs and veins everywhere but its the backside that tells all...Glutes and lower back are where you get a clear sense...

Bodybuilding is so visual which is all determined by a persons dna..
Small joints,full muscle bellys how a muscle inserts all come into play..
When I was 90kg I always got mistook for being over 100kg.look at kiwiol ,another with small joints and full muscle bellys..
Samir when he won the olympia he was close to 90 kg but looking at him you would swear he was 20kg heavier.illusion which is all down to genetics.

if you saw a bowl with oatmeal and blueberries in it, do you think you could throw ou a rough estimate as t what % of blueberries in the contents of that bowl?
now do the same thing with your body aand your bodyf fat... look in the mirror, or take a full body picture... stare for a while.. try to estimate the % of fat in your totasl body..
obviously its not gonna be very accurate, but i bet you could get within 5% as long as your being realistic

calipers are actually pretty accurate...too whom ever was alluding to them not being accurate
the only time that calipers aren't accurate is when the tester doesn't know how or where to get measurements from
the more sites you get readings from the more accurate the readings

I agree, if you use calippers I would say add anywhere from 5-10% to that number, for instance when I got clipped at 3% in actuality I was probably somewhere between 7-10%

Anyone that has competed can get a better guest-a-mate then someone who has not...
State level comps placing 1 thru 3 usually would put people at approx/ 6 to 7.5 percent...If any of these guys can get the glutes ripped, its safe to say they are heading south of 6.5%

Well I can't see the fibers there but when I flex my lower back I get an interesting christmas tree formation that almost looks like an 8 pack... the muscles contract hard and angle down towards the spine, forming what looks like a big arrow pointing down with 8 layers. There are 8 of them and when they contract it almost looks similar to when you flex your abs as far as them becoming visible. At 12%.

I agree with you. He didn't. He just had massive amounts of muscle, full muscle bellies, exceptional structure and small joints. That's how they were back then. It was more about overall composition rather than being a mass monster shredded to the bone as it is today. I guess it's all relative; back then that was "shredded" at that point in time. It's all about what the conditioning with the drugs are capable of at the point in time.

i would concur with that assessment of his bf level.
i was clipped 2 weeks out last year on a seven site fold by someone very qualified to do this and clipped out at 5.3%bf.
hydrostatically, i figure i would have been in and around 7ish or more.
bf levels are a funny thing and find they are not the be all and end all and should be more of a gauge of progress rather than an accurate portrayal of 'contest shape'.

I estimated 6-6.5%. 6% could be on the low side, potentially. But if one were to say 6.5%-7%, that is hardly an outlandish estimate. Arnold at his leanest was below 8%, that much is for certain. 8% isn't that hard to attain, at all.

Glutes and hams are perhaps not the best indicator of conditioning. Hell, there are current competitors that get extremely lean, that are smooth in those areas. 8% is not really difficult to achieve. I wouldn't suggest Arnold as having been as lean as today's standards, but he most certainly dipped below 8% at his very leanest. He has cross striations in his chest, excellent quad separations and a Christmas tree on his lower back. During earlier competitive years, he wasn't as lean, but in 1975 specifically, I would respectfully suggest his body fat was at least a little South of 8%.
