Title: QUESTIONS for Powerlifter Billy Mimnaugh. (Keep in Political Board Please)
Post by: The True Adonis on August 13, 2009, 07:29:30 AM
Take your political helmet off for a second and view this completely with your lifting belt on......

Can you incline 315 lbs for 7 reps or more?

Do you think 3333666 can do this lift as he says he did?

How many Naturals have you EVER seen do this lift?

What would 315 for 7 put a flat bench press at?

hahahahah a true getbigger....

I dont know much about 3333... but before i hurt my shoulder I was getting up to a little below 300 for 6-8 on incline and im a lifetime natural around 200 lbs then so I definitily think its possible.

didnt you claim to dead 225 for 100 in a single set but could never produce a video?

I mean thats a hell of a lot of weight to handle for someone 200 lbs and especially Natural.  I cant say that I have ever seen a Natural bench press 420 lbs at 200 lbs Raw.

That is in a class by itself.

Honestly,I dont know him.Im also not a natural athlete and havent been for 21 years so Id be the wrong person to give an opinion on that genre of lifting .I do inclines as an assistance movement and normally stick to reps of 5,but I have done 315X22 on the flat bench if that means anything[weighing 330].I have done 475 on the incline bench and 415X7,BUT I arch a lot on this movement, its not done strict ,it hurts my back to lay back on the machine as the inclines I have had access to are too steep.

315x7 WOULD PROBABLY BE AROUND 435 OR SO ON THE FLAT BENCH.THATS A HUGE GUESS.

Its very very hard to say a guy can or cant do something unless the claim is so outlandish[Branch Warren doing 405X20 in the behind the neck press comes to mind]that its just silly.A 205lb man doing 315X7 on the incline bench drug free would be a VERY VERY  strong man. That would be one Id like to see the video of before saying its true.

You are easily the strongest dude here.  I can`t even fathom what it would be like to touch those kind of weights, 400 plus, for Incline.  Billy, do you do any Olympic lifting or Strongman events also?

LOL

I think genetics plays a big role and also some ppl are just made for certain exercises, my flat bench was never really that good Id say mid 300's before I hurt my shoulder but by going off my incline numbers you would think it would be higher so...Like I said very attainable for a natural I think most ppl dont train as hard as they tell themselves they are training, they leave alot in the tank and tell themselves their empty.

I can do 225 for 100 in the Deadlift in a few sets.  ;) OR  I made it a "single set" by using straps and never dropping the bar, instead resting at the top until I could continue for some more reps and so on.  Not really impressive at all.  I posted this at the very start of the thread and somehow people figured I did it all non-stop in one set.

No,unfortunately when I decided to become a lifter,I lost ALL athletic ability.I went to college [Uof Maine]to play basketball and at 5'9 could dunk very easily. Now,I cant come with 4 inches of touching the net.Im now just a stiff, non athletic, goof who can lift some weights.Pathetic really.

My main problem is Ive had so many injuries through "my career"[is it a career when you pay thousands to do it?]that stuff like overhead pressing,is too painful,I cant imagine trying to bend over and pick up a stone.Nope,Im not a good enough athlete to do much more then powerlift and even deadlifting is becoming a chore bending over and grabbing the bar. Those guys are amazing and they are lightyears ahead of me as far athletic ability goes.

I am around 168-170 ripped as I stay these days,(ya never know when the next Mr. Getbig is around the corner, provided no Aquiles enter), and I haven`t maxed out in a while, but My squats are around 340 for 6 ass to ground, Deadlift 480 for 5 and Bench Press 315 for 2.

Not that great.  :-\

When I was into Powerlifting and force feeding myself, I was 235 lbs Benched 365 for one, Deadlifted 600 for one and Squatted ass to floor 500 for one.

Again, not that great considering I was 230 lbs of self-induced force feeding fatso-ness.  My power to weight is MUCH better Now than it was then, even though I am not lifting those numbers.  Plus, being ripped  I now have way more distance to travel in all lifts as the circumference of my legs, arms and waist etc.. allow for way more range of motion than when I was fat.  Therefore more distance to travel, more work to perform, thus more difficulty.

I have other pics, but you can see from my build that I am compact.  Genetics plays a large part .  Some of my tall friends have very long arms and cant bench shit.

However, they can dunk a ball, and I can only grab the net.

At least its clear that we all take the gym seriously.  I am beginning to think the ratio of serious lifters to non-serious is greater on the Political Board than on the G&O main board.

You know what TA - alot of my clients tried to get me into Golf and Tennis.  I just dont like it.  I like lifting.  I like throwing on Slayer, Hatebreed, BDP, Eric B, Maiden, Metallica and just lifting.  I like doing martial arts, shooting, etc.

The whole golf and tennis thing is just not me.  Plus, I hate the golf and tennis culture.

Whatever I cook or Jezebelle makes, restaurants or fast food.  I eat 2000 calories 6 days a week of whatever I decide to cook, Fast food or whatever.  I don`t count carbs, fats or protein, but I get minimum .5 grams per lb in protein or so.

On the 7th day, I do not count calories and eat upwards of who knows what.  Then its back to 2000 and so on.

I also do not do any cardio other than walking my dogs and some of my workouts where I occasionally do 10 sets of 10 with 1 minute rest.

By doing this, Over time, you are ensured to be ripped no matter what as you are in a caloric deficit longer than you are not in one and you will remain so.

It really is simple and I do not limit my food choices in any way whatsoever.  You can determine the proportionality of any recipe or any food so you know how many grams per calorie the final product is and therefore how much you are eating or can eat by simply weighing it once that is determined.

I've always thought that this diet made perfect sense, but have yet to just do it.

I understand your points about relative strength increasing at lower bodyweights, but did you hit a period of "weakness" at all when you first started this?  Any time I try to lean down I experience this around the third week and get discouraged.

Thats always been my problem too i start losing strenght and say fuck this i worked hard for those lbs im losing on lifts. I think if you do it right and slow your weights stay the same for the most part maybe a little dip but not bad.

I hear you.  I think at the end of August, I"m just going to push through it.

One thing though, TA does no cardio, but I think he trains 5x a week.  The style of training I do works every muscle every workout, so I can only handle it 3x a week.  That would leave 4 days off if you don't do cardio, so I think I might have to add it.

I have two shotguns but rarely go since the closest range is almost an hour away.  I am in NYC and we dont have ranges that have skeet.  I mostly shoot my AR15, GSG5, and Glocks now at the local range that has a 25 yard distance.  Its not great, but adequate.

XBOX???  COD & GTA did me in.  Between he lack of sleep, etc, I had to give it up.  Seriously those two games alone are worse than drugs.

I maintain, grow and remain lean by default since I spend more days in a caloric deficit than naught.  When Sunday rolls around, my 7th day, I do some serious eating.

I will probably continue this way of eating the rest of my life as its very simple to follow with adequate nutrition, not restrictive in any way and you get the benefits of anti-aging through caloric restriction.

Cool, i hear you on making that way your norm I think thats what I will do for the most part on my eating habits now too. Never knew exactly how bad I ate before I cleaned up my diet and starting eating a little better.

billy you were 330 at 5'9'? jesus fuck man that cant be good for too long.

what do you weigh now?

Ha,ha,I know.Ok,I competed in two bodybuilding shows in June [The indianapolis and GNC classic]I weighed in at 224 the indy was june 13.Today Im at 290lbs.My goal is to push my weight to 350-400lbs.Im planning on competing in the APF masters nationals in May and the seniors in June of next year. This will probably be my last go around in full meets.I HAVE to hit 1000lb squat,700bench and 804 pull before I quit and the only way Im strong[national strong]is by being a disgusting mess.

I know that sounds retarded, but Ive tried bringing my weight down and at 275 I total around 2120 every time.At 242 I usually hit 2,000.That wins regional meets but NOT national meets. At 330 I hit 2303 and it was a very easy 2303 with LOTS of lbs left on the platform. So,to finnish strong,Im going to take one last run at pushing my weight up to extreme levels. After that Im going to go and do bodybuilding the rest of my life. The problem with powerlifting I cant stay healthy.Im normally good for at least one surgery a year getting stuff attached back on,bodybuilding keeps me healthy.

For anyone interested here was a pick from the show.

TA - this is why I like the getbig boards more than FR, DU, KOS, Politico, etc.  We can beat each other up over politics etc all the time, but at the end of the day, every one overall is pretty cool with each other.  I can honestly say, even with people I disagree with probably 99% of the time, it is rarely personal to the point of hatred, etc.  You just dont get that at other places.

I have been to huffington post, kos, FR, WSJonline, etc, but I personally enjoy the getbig boards more than all the others since at teh end of the day, we still mostly have a lot in common and can be conversant with each other.

I may disagree with you on most things, but I still think you are probably really good guy.  on some of the other boards, it gets downright stupid.

I was even thrown off of FR when i did not agree with Budh 100% of the time!

Well, I train sometimes 3 days a week only and sometimes more.  Its never been really set.  I have gotten by on 2 days a week at times.  I don`t do that often though and usually get 3-5 days a week in especially now since I have a bench, squat rack and the ability to make dumbbells up to 150 at home.

Cool.   150 lb dumbells, how do you do that?

But you're mostly at your maintenance, gaining phase right now.  Was your diet/training similar now to what it was when you originally shed all the bodyfat?  I thought you mentioned training 5x a week consistently during that.

Exactly.  I know none of it is personal and we are just expressing our views sometimes creatively with the language we use and how we present it.

I enjoy the conversation greatly and wouldn`t be here if I felt any other way.

I was thrown off of The Democratic Underground forums for supporting Mike Gravel and tried to explain why his plan of ending the IRS and Income tax and establishing a National Sales Tax is the way to go.

Mike Gravel was by far the most liberal candidate and they did not like him whatsoever.  They were blinded by Barack and Hillary and I had it out with them big time.  Mike Gravel pwned the shit out of Barack and Hillary at each debate, calling them out on everything and they all thought Gravel was crazy for some reason.  It sickened me and it still does to this day.  They treated Kucinich the same way.

"Kaufman is a 5-8 1/2, 185-pounder who can bench press 420 pounds. He is the University of Washington's all-time leader in rushing yards (4,041) and all-purpose yards (5,658)."

Good lifts, and your current lifts are pretty good too IMO.

Considering your bodyweight and height, I'd say you're quite strong.

Tero Pitkämäki, the Finnish javelin thrower, weighs about 190 me thinks.

Here's a video of him training.

Ok, so some of you will claim that he's no doubt juicing.

But look at the clip and then tell me he looks like a juicer.

I definitely think he can be clean.

Check out 1:45 into the clip, Tero's benchpressing 396 lbs :o

Who cares if hes juicing? The guy is not training to be a strength athlete,he is training to be an athlete and still hes moving weight like that. When your only USING weights as a means to an end as opposed to the lifting being the end game, AND YOUR STILL strong as hell,THATS super impressive! There really is nothing better then watching videos like that.It gives you an idea of what those guys go through to do an event that looks pretty basic but it obviously EXTREMELY demanding.Incredible!
