Not my decision. I brought back a lot of software development in the last 2 years, sent some QA shit that no one wants to do or lab configuration like Toxshit is doing.. the monkey stuff no one wants to do and brought back the creative engineering stuff.

Haven't layed off anyone in my 2 teams ever... and I have 34 people under me...

WILL IT BE WAR WITH PAKISTAN???

WAR with the CCIE lab  >:(

n for those that dunno what a CCIE is...i'll wiki it

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert is the highest level of professional certification that Cisco currently provides and is considered one of the hardest certifications in the world. There are five active CCIE tracks, as shown below. As of June 26, 2009 there are 20,003 people with active CCIE certifications in the world.[20]. [21][22] and from 2002 to 2005[23] it was voted as such in CertCities magazine. It has also been voted the most technically advanced IT certification by CertMag,[24] and is generally reported as the highest salaried certification in IT salary surveys.

Cisco began its CCIE program in 1993[25] originally with a two day lab, later changing it to the one day format used today. Fewer than 3% of Cisco certified individuals attain CCIE certification, and on average will spend thousands of dollars and 18 months studying before passing.[26] Many candidates build mock-labs at home using old Cisco equipment, selling it again to other candidates after passing. Alternatively candidates may rent "rack time" online and practice lab scenarios on Cisco equipment hosted on the Internet for that purpose.

The CCIE is comprised of a written exam and a "lab" exam (each in the specific area of the chosen track). The written exam is required to take the lab exam, and has a cost of $350 USD per attempt. The written exam consists of 100 questions that must be completed within 2 hours. [Candidates used to have 3 hours.] Upon passing the written exam, the candidate has eighteen months to take the lab exam. If the first attempt is unsuccessful the candidate has three years from the date the written exam was passed to successfully complete the lab. The lab is an eight hour hands-on exam designed to demonstrate that the candidate not only knows Internetworking theory, but also demonstrates advanced hands on mastery. If a candidate does not pass the CCIE lab in that time, they must pass the CCIE written exam again before making additional attempts at the CCIE lab exam. As many attempts can be made to pass the lab exam for up to three years after passing the written, so long as the first attempt is within 18 months. There is a minimum waiting time between attempts of one month.

The CCIE Lab is currently $1,400 USD per attempt and are offered only at ten Cisco lab exam locations worldwide. The locations may be found on the Cisco certifications website. Some CCIE tracks do not have lab exams available at all locations. For example, the Storage Networking lab is available only at the Research Triangle Park, NC and Brussels locations. In addition, according to a survey by Cisco the average cost to prepare for CCIE certification is $9,050 as of April 2006, spent mostly on practice equipment and self study material.[27][/i]

the program began in 1993 and only 20k some folks have passed on the planet...soo Mr dumbfuck alex...there r more "real" engineers on the planet than CCIEs ;)

Whatever floats your boat, just stop talking about it as no one really cares... sounds like you're trying to justify yourself.

You come up as a kid who a lot of problems in 20's, drugs and alcohol and eventually tried to pu his shit togheter late 20's when hitting rock bottom and now holding on to router certification like it defines you...

You should've got a real degree brother, technologies comes and go like fashion... plus you're competing with China and India who are faster and cheaper... telnet/SSH is hell of a tool...

CCIE. Crazy!
Written is hard enough let alone the lab. Back 10 years agao there were only 6 testing centers in the world.
1 or 2 in North America.
My buddy is CCIE 2300 or so.....

damn, you'll be CCIE# 22,000. shit, I got a long way to go. I just finnish my CCNP. I'm thinking of doing Voip as my next target
Thankyou! 8)  someone here knows what a CCIE is :)
CCVP is good now a days although i dont recommend getting a CCIE voice unless u have routing and switching...

learn how to route and switch first....then move on from there...

i plan on my CCIE in ISP afterwards...

took it(the lab) once back in 2002 but i wasn't serious....but cause of my teaching CCNP (R n S) i'm a MUCH stronger CCIE candidate now and i plan on passing...  (i'm a CCSI..cisco cert systems instructor)

if you need to recert your CCNP do it now...they r adding MPLS to the CCNP on the 18th of this month...and the CCIE written/lab is also gonna change...i say..facking bring it!  >:( i want my # to be under 25k

also the IOS is changing to IOX in about 2 yrs...more unix like

The IT Industry is strong now!
CCIE. Crazy!
Written is hard enough let alone the lab. Back 10 years agao there were only 6 testing centers in the world.
1 or 2 in North America.
My buddy is CCIE 2300 or so.....

i'm gonna take it at RTP north carolina....around March!

Gratz on the written.  I have heard the Lab is the real PITA. I am a partner in an IT consulting company. I used to be more Cisco focused, but cant seem to get away from project managment/sales engineering lately.

I had always wanted to work towards CCIE earlier in my career, its a guaranteed 6 figure salary basically.

dont know why you're attacking him randomly Alex----although I dont know your guys history, who gives a fuck if the dude got fucked up in the past, its all about where your at now, even your boy groink was strung out for while, doesnt make him a bad person, actually makes him a respectable dude for being able to rise above that shit.

oh and outsourcing is fucking bullshit, shit is killing our country-------yeah lets give our $$$$ to a bunch of indians and chinese who hate us instead of some real true Americans :-\  ----------Scumbag corporations

Dude, the reason for this is your Real True Americans got too fucking greedy, and this goes for every industry.. fuck guys in car plant's locally are making what? 80.00$ an hour + 1 1/2 overtime!?!? to bolt in a seat with a computer assisted robot inside a car ?!! no wonder everything is getting outsourced. Same with the local IT guys wanting $120 an hour to do routing/switching admin duties..it's fucking ridiculous, guys overseas will do the same job for 1/3 of the price, this way the company saves and doesn't go bankript.

Why do you think everything sold in Wal Mart is from China ?!!? and the prices for shit is so low... you can buy a dvd player in walmart for $20

btw, most indians are extremely intelligent.  the best schools in the world are in India....better than harvard or yale.

to stereotype them as tools and smelly is ignorant.  you can't group everyone into the same category.  most of these tools would know how to spell basic words such as red and apartment even though its a second language for them...
