one of Joe Meeko's famous quotes was "I never waste a syringe"

At least we can clone him given the tenacity of wearing a mullet for a few decades. Surely there is enough hair in the carpet or on the rubber mat at the gym so all is not completely lost.

joe had not taken anything in over 20 years so i highly doubt that to be a factor.. i am curious as to why no one on ironage has mentioned the cause of death?

lyme disease is bad news....
"depression is the most common psychiatric syndrome associated with late stage Lyme disease. Although depression is common in any chronic illness, it is more prevalent with Lyme patients than in most other chronic illnesses. There appears to be multiple causes, including a number of psychological and physical factors.
From a psychological standpoint, many Lyme patients are psychologically overwhelmed by the large multitude of symptoms associated with this disease. Most medical conditions primarily affect only one part of the body, or only one organ system. As a result, patients singularly afflicted can do activities which allow them to take a vacation from their disease. In contrast, multi-system diseases such as Lyme, depression, chronic Lyme disease can penetrate into multiple as pects of a person’s life. It is difficult to escape for periodic recovery. In many cases, this results in a vicious cycle of disappointment, grief; chronic stress, and demoralization.
It should be noted that depression is not only caused by psychological factors. Physical dysfunction can directly cause depression. Endo crine disorders such as hypothyroidism, which cause depression, are sometimes associated with Lyme disease and further strengthen the link be tween Lyme disease and depression.
The most complex link is the association between Lyme disease and central nervous system functioning. Lyme encephalopathy results in the dysfunction of a number of different mental func tions. This in turn results in cognitive, emotional, vegetative, and/or neurological pathology. Although all Lyme disease patients demonstrate many similar symptoms, no two patients present with the exact same symptom profile.
Other mental syndromes associated with late state Lyme disease, such as attention deficit disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc., may also contribute to the develop ment of depression. Dysfunction of other specific pathways may more directly cause depression. The link between encephalopathy and depression has been more thoroughly studied in other illnesses, such as stroke. The neura1 injury from a stroke causes neural dysfunction that causes depression. Injury to specific brain regions has different statisti cal correlation with the development of depression. Once depression or other psychiatric syndromes occur with Lyme disease, treating them effectively improves other Lyme disease symptoms as well and prevents the development of more severe conse quences, such as suicide.
Suicidal tendencies are common in neuropsychiatric Lyme patients. There have been a number of completed suicides in Lyme disease patients and one published account of a combined homicide/suicide. Suicide accounts for a significant number of the fatalities associated with Lyme disease. In my database, suicidal tendencies occur in approxi mately 1/3 of Lyme encephalopathy patients."

what a man.. he died from a tick bite... thats one tough sob!

Offed himself.
I'd bet this too. Usually when someone dies and people aren't forthcoming, it's suicide, social disease, or something else that might make the person seem weak or embarassing.
RIP to him.

adonis.. yeah.. that is what i thought.. why not just come out and say.. ironage, although i love the web site, gets offended by asking.. people want to know.. he had a tough life the last couple of years.. wife tried to murder him ect.. thought he was getting it back on track with the movie deals he was getting.. depression is a bitch..

If that is the case that is very sad but also understandable considering what he has been through in the past few years. I like ironage too since they have a knowledge base that is very unique as far as message boards go, but I agree that members get offended far too easily.
For those of you who want to learn more about Joe, you can check out the information available on his website:

RIP Joe.

I posted some newer pictures of him in this thread:
http://tiny.cc/UZzjg
Even recently, it looks like he had some pretty big arms! He claimed they went from 17" cold to 18" cold recently. Does anyone have any more information on his passing? Very sad. It must have been pretty rough to struggle with Lyme Disease. :(
-
= AIDS in all likelyhood
STFU you piece of shit! You knew nothing about him.
-
don't know for sure but he was battling lyme disease for over a year?
Actually he had it for many years and didn't know it. He went into detail on this over at IronAge where he was a frequent poster and had a huge Q and A thread.
-
At least we can clone him given the tenacity of wearing a mullet for a few decades. Surely there is enough hair in the carpet or on the rubber mat at the gym so all is not completely lost.
Since you love to google so much to show us how intelligent you are why don't you google him and find out what kind of person he was you pompous ass!

I'm a regular on that board for years and we were ask to "reflect" on his death instead. Fuking pussies!
-

I believe that Joe's physique was one built strictly on AAS and not on GH/insulin or the PEDs which became more popular a few years after Joe's last contest. Joe was a very nice person who I chatted with via the internet after reviewing his DVD in 2005. He was always prompt to answer questions on his Q&A at ironage and had another such thread on mayhem:
http://www.ironage.us/yabbse/index.php/topic,10564.0.html
He enjoyed helping others to reach their goals and was always pleasant, even in the face of adversity.
Rest in Peace, Joe. :'(

What's your fuking point, Swede? That it's pointless to acknowledge that someone in our sport has died? Someone that many knew and a person who was exceptionally decent and good. That it doesn't merit a thread here on GetBig but you moving into an apartment does?

Of course you don't. You're a typical self-absorbed generation nothingness freeloader. I just heard yesterday that Sweden has practically life long unemployment benefits. Is that how you afford to live in an apartment and bang 15 whores? You had a job once and now sponge off others who have endure the daily grind while you loaf around. Is that why you keep avoiding the question as to how you support yourself without a job?

LOL! There actually use to be a time when a man felt ashamed and disgraced when he couldn't support himself and his family. Not so today. Guys live with their parents until they close in on thirties and many try to game the system so they live off others.
I've been supporting myself since I was 18. Even though at times my living conditions weren't always ideal I always felt a since of pride that even if I was working menial jobs at least I was pulling my own weight. But guys today don't want to rough it.
I'd rather work at McDonalds and live in a card board box than freeload off welfare or other government programs.

Good post. It's all so true

So, Pellius, are you out ridin those big waves lately?
Good to hear from you, my friend. Still training for Mr. GetBig?
The waves right now are way out of my league. Waimea and other beaches on the North Shore are at 30-40 ft. No joke. I know my limits.

Good points made Pellius, and the fact that some posters on here don`t even know who Joe Meeko was shows the lack of knowledge on here.
-
Sorry dude I guess he was a good guy didnt know him....RIP.
No worries. I didn't know I was talking to you when I said "ass hole." I just immediately responded to the post without thinking. I've know Joe and corresponded with him for many years. None of the subjects were even remotely related to bodybuilding. Joe still trained to stay healthy, keep in shape and simply loved it -- but he was far, far more than a bodybuilder.
-
Good points made Pellius, and the fact that some posters on here don`t even know who Joe Meeko was shows the lack of knowledge on here.
They're kids. Meeko's day was in the eighties when bodybuilding was still somewhat decent. But even then Joe saw the writing on the wall and although he was extraordinary gifted he had a good upbringing and was a clean cut kid. He knew this wasn't the sport for him.
His passing came as a complete shock to me because he lived such a healthy, wholesome lifestyle (although he was always battling health problems due to Lyme). He also had so many bad breaks in the last few years: near fatal car crash, wife who went crazy and of course the Lyme disease which he was battling for years but was never diagnosed properly. And this was just to name a few.
-
Joe was a good guy......he sent me a pair of his power grips free of charge and I still use them every week on back day.......used to post on my board at times.
Good guy, with a great physique, who will be misssed by people who know who he is.
Just thought I`d add that last pasrt due to the kids and their lack of bodybuilding history.
-

He was a good guy. He was the kind of guy that after you talk to him he inspires you to want to be a better person.
Fuk!

joe was going to go the ifbb route, but after meeting joe weider changed his mind, being an old aau guy they probably would have screwed him in the contests. as stated on ironhistory in regards to aau mr americas, the first twelve who died lived to an average age of 78.3 years well above the normal life expectancy at the time. the next twelve died at an average age of 58.9 at the same time the average age expectancy for men went up. how can this be? all this being said joe meeko was a great guy nice to his fans not arrogant at all and he had a lot to be arrogant about....when his wife tried to do him in , he dropped all charges in the aftermath speaks volumes.
-
don't know him so its really hard for me to give half a shit.

that's true does putting down another man make you a better man. esp when that man is no longer here to defend himself.

You really are a callous asshole.......you are something else.......you don't matter to me though.....just amazed at what a prick you are.... making light of a man's death.
It's his generation. A shallow, self-absorbed, spoiled, nothing generation. And to think it was a mere two generations ago where a boy of 16 would lie about his age just so he could join the military and fight for his country during WW2.
Now it's posting naked pics of yourself fuking some whore on a public board and complaining how, at 21, with 18 inch arms, you can't handle breaking a sweat and working with your back and hands. All this in while living in a place paid for by others.
Not many like manual labor but sometimes you have to do it to support yourself. That's assuming you believe that part of being and acting like a man you carry your own weight.
No shame and no pride.

My postings on getbig are not very many, but most of you all know me from other boards.
I was one person that considered Joe a friend - and am saddened that he is no longer with us.
he was very gracious to many people on various boards offering advices, support, encouragement and those blue power grips - (he told me he made his money other ways and would just give them away to anyone who was passionate about the sport).
he wasnt just another aging juicehead as some have said - true he had his demons and issues that he dealt with - but that never stopped him from speaking with great passion to people who wanted to become better bodybuilders and better people.
the reason that we are on these boards is that we all have a common bond that we have a desire to achieve greater physical performance - he was no different than any one of us here add to that he became a champion who reached the top of his sport and gave back to the sport unlike many others whose time has come and gone
if we cant honor a man's life (who was one of us) respectfully, wtf are we actually doing here?
my $.02....

It is worth noting that anyone who had any dealings with Joe were impressed on how gracious and generous he was. He true gentleman. No one had anything bad to say about him except for Mike Quinn. Joe and Mike were friends until Joe beat him in a contest. Mike never spoke to Joe again and never returned calls or emails. But I think this shows more on what kind of person Mike was than Joe.
BTW, wasn't it Mike Quinn that someone posted pic of where he got his ass beat by some bouncer when Mike was trying to throw his weight around?

just posted on ironage by someone in the know...
In response to recent questions regarding the circumstances of Joe's passing, Joe had endured hardships in the recent years including marital difficulties, car accidents, injuries and complications from Lyme disease. According to a longtime friend of Joe's and the family, Joe passed away on Tuesday December 8, at 11 p.m. by his own choice.

Oh Jees, Joe took his own life, I'm really sorry to read that. He was a good guy and seemed to be living a full life even if things had been a bit rough recently. After leaving competitive bodybuilding in his 20's he was able to retire into the mountains while only in his early 40's due to good business activities. Really generous with his time in advising others. I did him a small favour once and he couldn't thank me enough. It was the least I could do.
The post on Ironage says he felt alone in the world. I'm sure nothing could have been further from if the truith if only he'd known.
I'm sure the kids posting crap in this thread don't mean it. It's just adolescent bravado and machismo but one day they will grow up and learn.

99% of people posting "rip" in these types of thread are just bullshitting, trying to fit it but really not giving a shit.
As I said, I shouldnt have posted the steroid thing, sad for him, sad for his family, but 100 "rip" threads is annyoing, and on gb you can speak your mind and I do.
and Im not tryingto disrespect Joe, im just pointing out what I feel is wrong about these type of threads.
Should I have stayed out? yes. But I like being provocative with the argument Not against the Person if it came across like that.

Hey dick, get an education and learn something about moral equivalence. We feel bad because we knew him and he touched a lot of people's lives. That matters. If someone in your family or friend died, and assuming I didn't realize you were such a callous, narcissistic, asshole; we would sympathize with you, regardless of whether or not we knew the person you loss, because we know you and you're a part of us. Show you some courtesy and respect.
And, yes, that does make us better than you, you low life, spoiled, coddled, piece of shit.
Now go shadow box in front of the mirror thinking you're a fighter. I've found with young punks like you, you like the IDEA of being a fighter and not the REALITY of being a fighter that requires a lot of discipline, training and pain.
And get a fuking job and act like a man and a responsible adult for chrissakes! I thought you were a cool dude but uber was right about you. He seems to see right through nothings like you.

No. It's called moral relativism. You have a problem with a specific thing, then name that thing and say why. This is like TA bringing in his political hatred of the Gulf War when we are respecting a fellow Getbigger who has passed.

No. It's called moral relativism. You have a problem with a specific thing, then name that thing and say why. This is like TA bringing in his political hatred of the Gulf War when we are respecting a fellow Getbigger who has passed.
As an aside, when I used the term moral equivalence I was referring to Swede equating some Somalian getting shot in the head or starving to death to someone that we knew and touched our lives. There's a lot of tragedy and horror in the world and if we felt the same about some African starving to death due to a corrupt government as we would about someone who made a difference in our lives we would be emotionally overwhelmed.

I have a problem with these threads because its Filled with people trying to fit it writing "rip" and dont meanig it, that if ANYTHING thats insulting and that annoyes me.
that is for me more disrespecting to "joe" then anything ive posted.

not the people that mean it. All of those who don't.
the same type of people that goes into threads and posts "they are" pr "hes in" or "shes in" my prayers etc when they dont mean it.
-
I'm pretty sure Swede is a sensitive soul who actually does think about the death and horror which happens in the world. Perhaps his "couldn't give a shit" posts are his way of coping with it.
Or it could be he is just an annoying wee bawbag.

then get the fuck out of the thread, welfare case, and go back to playing WOW on your state bought computer, cause god knows your lazy dwarf ass is too lazy to get a 'job'.

who are you to judge me?
you dont know me?
you dont know what ive done or havent done?
Its not ok for me to post in this thread like this, but its ok for you to judge and insult people?
what you're doing is no better then what Im doing. Dont fool yourself.
-
99% of people posting "rip" in these types of thread are just bullshitting, trying to fit it but really not giving a shit.
99% eh? How do you know this, genius? And yes, feel free to speak your mind so you can expose yourself as the dimwitted moron that you are.
And you are not trying to disrespect Joe? I had no idea what a fuking emotionally stunted, immature, clueless retard that you are.
And of course you like being provocative because you belong to the "Hey everybody! Look at me!" generation with your, and your kind, propensity of taking endless pictures of yourself and posting them whether on a message board, MySpace and whereever the fuk else you go to be looked at.
When I compare the type of man Joe Meeko was: generous to a fault, always polite, courteous and respectful; and extraordinarily decent to a low life, conceited, spoiled, punk like you. You're not worthy to even be in the same thread where his name is mentioned.
Now go bang one of your hoes and come back here to brag about it and feel like a man.

So someone thought getbig would be a smart place for someone to start a RIP thread in when they knew they would go insane over someone posting something bad? because we all know that never happends on GETBIG. :)
I should have stayed out, but I didnt, and Im not gonna say sorry because I havent insulted the man as I said, and the first think I said I explained.
And Im just gonna say this One more time, because I hate repeating myself. If anything I posted was taken as a insult to Joe, It wasn't my intention.
Dont claim Im lying because you dont know now do you?

1) i don't need to know you.
2) yes in know what you've done or haven't done- you posted on here this summer about your 'new job' that lasted all of 2 weeks cause you couldn't handle getting up in the morning and putting in a days work like a real man, mostly because you are a lazy boy who'd rather coast on social assistance than provide for yourself.
3) no it's not ok to post your bullshit in thread like this. take it somewhere else. there are 100's of threads here for that shit. you need not look any further than your own posts to see why it's ok for me to judge you, asshole.
4) you reap what you sow.
now, isn't there a soup kitchen somewhere you should be in line at?
-
joe meeko 48 years old died last night
if it bleeds, we can kill it
-
So someone thought getbig would be a smart place for someone to start a RIP thread in when they knew they would go insane over someone posting something bad? because we all know that never happends on GETBIG. :)
I am very respectful to the people I respect.
I dont respect someone I dont know.
How stupid can you be? Here dummy, I'm holding all my fingers up and I have them all, how many are there? Can you count that high? Need to see them in person. Don't know how to extrapolate?
This is a fuking bodybuilding board, retard. Joe Meeko was one of the best of his time and was still active in the community. That's why it was posted here and every other bodybuilding board. Sure there will be fucktards that don't know A from B and will expose himself as a disrespectful c.unt. In this thread, that happens to be you. That's why the beat down and the ownings. Hopefully, you will learn something and become a better person

I rephrased my post. read it again.
and no one here can "own" me, because no one here Knows me.... Hard for you to grasp HUH? =)
and I start threads and put myself out there for entertaintment.
People in those threads disrespects me all the time, and this is GETBIG if you start a thread here you should be able to handle it.
Somep eople enjoy the threads some dont. and the ones who dont are welcome to hate or "disrespect" me, because its a win win for everyone isn't it?

What you post. The views that you hold and express. The lifestyle that you live. The things that you do and won't do. All that you make public. That's gives us a pretty good idea of what kind of person you are. We probably know you better than your own parents do.
So yes, we know you and you are owned. Hard for you to graps, huh?
-
what are you pellius, some kind of hero?
No. But he's speaking for someone who now can't. Cool?

RIP Joe

always wanted a pair might grab some soon.

what ive posted isn't about "joe".
except the first which I explained.

Im responding not posting about me out of the blue.

You know Swede, I'm feeling kind of generous so I'll try to pass on some wisdom to your nothing generation. It's about what motivates a person. Many people will dismiss others who do good, say give a lot to charity, do good deeds, or help others people less fortunate. They will be dismissed as really having selfish motives. Trying to look good and impress others. That may well be the case but the fact is we don't really know what's in a man's heart. I find that people tend to judge others as having selfish or ulterior motives whereas they judge their own motives as pure and with the best of intentions.
Again that may be true but we'll never know for sure. What we do know and can judge is a person's behavior. What they actually do. I'm less concerned about whether or not someone likes me than how they actually treat me. I would much rather have someone do good for selfish reasons than bad for good reasons and good intentions. Remember the saying, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
Whether or not a person is truly sincere in offering condolences in regard to Joe's passing is less of a concern to me than that they are, through their behavior, showing courtesy, respect and decency.
-
And one of the main differences between me and you is that if you see someone posting "rip" and don't means it you think its ok, I dont :) it really really gets to me when people are being unsincere.
people who say " didnt know the guy but RIP" and won't think about this thread even once more in they lifetime but think its ok just because they said rip annoys me.
I have a history of being very very very missunderstood lol.
-

You're no WingedLion.
And yes, good people do judge. We don't judge a person's soul because that is for God. But we do judge their behavior here on earth. We strive to have standards and freely state that some things are better than others. Some people are better than others. A Mother Teresa is better than an Adolf Hitler or a Stalin.
But as chimps mentioned when referring to moral relativism, your generation is loss with no moral compass and will say things like: "Who are we to judge a culture that chops people's heads off because they want to be a Christian or allow little girls to burn to death in a building than have them being exposed in public without their burka."
-
RIP Joe

Power Grips. Google Meeko and power grips. They're great and I've been using them for years. I advise to get one that is one size smaller than you measure. It makes for a more snug fit.
-
edit,
ive explained myself enough
-
as I said. You .... dont .... know .....me.
and I dont know joe.
if i accidentally die and someone starts a rip thread, I would rather see someone in there calling em a fucking asshole then posting "rip" and not meaning it.
people post insanly disrespectful stuff on gb on a daily basis, if you took everything seriously, it wouldnt last long until you would go mental.
How do you know they dont mean it? like you said > You .... dont .... know .....me...
So just because you dont mean it , it doesnt mean everyone else doesnt.
Because this is a community as such if someone who made a name for themselves passes on of course you will get people giving there condolences , they dont have to know that person personaly to express there sorrow..it shows they reconise the true meaning of life and how precious it is.
-
dont say "just because you dont mean it" ive never posted rip to anyone I didnt mean it to.
I think alot of people don't mean it. Maby they do, maby they dont. I think this and you think that

No, it's because you are self-indulgent, shallow and self-absorbed. It's called showing respect. I know you belong to that generation that feels it is being "true to yourself" by always expressing how you really feel. Always putting everything out there for the world to see. That's selfish and narcissistic which defines your generation. My parents didn't give a flying crap whether I really "felt" thankful when someone gave me a present. What they cared about was that I show thanks and gratitude or there was a belt waiting for me to draw up some welts on the back of my leg. They didn't care if I felt tired and didn't want to get out of bed or if I was in a bad mood. I had to suck it up and drag my ass out of bed and put on a smile and ACT with courtesy and respect, maybe even show a bit of class. It's part being respectful, considerate and a decent person and not always just being concerned with how you feel and what you think and letting the world know -- whether or not it's appropriate.
-

What you want us to know. How you portray yourself also tells us a lot about you.

ahh Im too tired.
you dont know me is the moral of the story, because you dont lol.
ive never claimed to Know anything about joe have I? I havent judged him have I?
you're the one judging people that you dont know, far worse then what Im doing.

Then, maybe, when someone else passes, you'll stay the f*ck out out of the way. :)

ofc it does, but I can choose to portray me in any way shape or form, depending on the mood Im in because this is .....teh internet

already responded to that.

Seems like your parents gave you a good education how to treat people correctly, but it seems to me that they didnt taught you to take care of your own growth and your sorrows. You said it yourself. What is your motto? Please everyone else, but forget about yourself? You re neglecting your holy spirit that is in you. You talked about christianity? then you should know that father and son will forgive but the holy spirit wont. Dont neglect it, embrace it. You seem to be pissed off that swede isnt working. He's totally right about that, most of us work for some boss we dont even know personally, if its a big organisation. He fathens his pockets, we doing all the hard work and get a penny. WTF is 2000 eur a month compared to those ritches. If you dont own your company and work for yourself you shouldnt talk. you re no better then a guy collecting welfare. We should all stop working for a month, the tables would turn and we would get more grip on our prosperity. We re a bunch of slaves in this period. If you have a boss you re empowered. You should do some reserch about life and the power structures.

Regrettably, but not surprisingly, my post went way over your head. Maybe I don't "know" you but I know how you put yourself out to be. And I judge your behavior as I judge all people's behavior. That's a good thing. Remember, be less concerned about what a person's motivations and intentions are than what a person actually does. Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge murdered over half of his population in an attempt to build a modern day Utopia. He, along with a Hitler, Stalin, Mao didn't get up in the morning and say, "How can I do more evil today?" They really thought they were building a better world.
-
Too tired? And you have to get up in the morning for what exactly?
if you think all I do is just sit on my ass and do nothing, it just proves what Im trying to explain to your judgemental ignorant ass =)
but keep on doing your "thing" if it makes you feel better lol.
-
You know getbig is like a outlet to people, what you post here doesnt have any value on your morals. It all started by guys like slippedisc, goatboy and so on. They cleared the path for us, what you cant say in real life you say here, its just a vibe. dont take it so serious.
-

That's one way to look at it, but what if they were sincere for that moment? I doubt anyone is expected to sit shiva for Joe, but one could for even for a few seconds feel sympathy for the man and wish him well on his final journey. You could look at a man's history and the way he treated people even if you didn't know him, and think there goes a decent person.
-

Another clueless moron. Neglect myself at the expense of consideration for everybody else. You do both and indeed one complements the other. By doing good for others you enrich yourself and by enriching yourself you can do good for other. The problem in our culture is certainly not people neglecting themselves.
And what are you talking about? Do you know anything about economics. I don't begrudge a man not working. I begrudge a man living off the expense of others. And if we all stopped working we'd all starve. There would be no prosperity but become just another third world shit hole where nobody works. Don't be an idiot.
When a Bill Gates starts a business and enriches himself he also enriches others. The hundred of billions if not trillions of dollars he has generated for others world wide provided millions of others to be very prosperous. He's not exploiting anyone because when he posts a job ad, as when most business' does, they get a long line of hopefuls begging to get hired.
A slave is someone who is, by forced and threat of punishment, is made to do something he wouldn't do otherwise. You diminish real slavery by equating it to a guy going to a job he doesn't like but won't do anything to improve his situation.
A business owner, with his PROFITABLE business, is doing a good thing by contributing to the economy and providing a good or service that somewhat actually wants (that's why it's profitable). If there's any slavery it's the government unilaterally confiscating half your income, under threat of force, when they produce nothing and contribute nothing to the economy. The government cannot generate wealth! In an economic sense they can't give anybody anything simply because they have nothing to give. What they give to one they've taken from someone else. So in that case you can make a case for slavery but not quite.
What is given to up person is taken from someone else.

Well, enlighten us? What do you do to support yourself? I didn't say you didn't do anything. You go to the gym. You banged 15 hoes before you even set up your pad. You play video games and watch the UFC and post on GetBig. What else?
-

why on earth do you think I need to prove myself to you? if you want to assume things about me, go ahead, just dont think you're right..
I dont play video games.. see... assuming things isn't smart.
and ive fucked 15 gilrs in this bed, not in my Pad, see thinking you know things is bad.

I am, In situations irl when you should be.
on the internet? not so much, why? because I dont take internet stuff seriously. why? becaused its the internet.

You don't have to prove anything. But you made the point of what you do and don't do. And in your "new apartment" thread you implied that you had all those women in your new apartment. And even when I mentioned it you didn't deny it.
So instead of avoiding the question how do you support yourself? If you don't get any money from your parents, and don't have a job, all of which you yourself stated, then it is natural to wonder how you afford your life style that you like to brag about.
-
Good dude. Solid bodybuilder.

Pellius check your former post, your parents neglected you. Thats why you re trying to make sence to a 20old kid. All that good in you and you re batteling it out at getbig, lol shame on you. I agree that you get a certain satisfaction helping others, but it wont solve your own problems in the long run. thats just a cover-up to not face your shadows. its time for you to face it.
And dont give me your deluded economics crap, you want to shine shues? let us strike for a month, let the dow jones fall. it will fall anyway. its not like we cant survive without the cash. let the billionaires suffer, the people are suffering anyway with their 2000 eur a month like i said. get back to nature, destroy the system and then rebuild it up with some good people in power.

And I wish my parents paid less attention to me. They couldn't get off my case though I appreciate it now. And we all have problems we have to deal with but things could be worse and I'm glad to be back home with family, old friends, and a cool, laid back culture.
Get back to nature? I guess you missed my stunning pictorial during my beef with Pande. I lived in LA for over 15 years before I moved back to Hawaii. I live in the country my friend. The mountains on one side the beach on the other. All within walking distance.
Here's my drive home, where I do my fine dining, and where I buy my poi and coconut milk:

In response to recent questions regarding the circumstances of Joe's passing, Joe had endured hardships in the recent years including marital difficulties, car accidents, injuries and complications from Lyme disease. According to a longtime friend of Joe's and the family, Joe passed away on Tuesday December 8, at 11 p.m. by his own choice. He called me earlier in the day and he expressed sadness over events and what he saw as failures but was repentant before God and made his peace. He was saddened that he heard from very few friends and felt very alone. It is very easy for those who were not part of the situation to judge his actions and so it is best to consider not only the closing days of his life but his life in its entirety which included a very distingusihed career in competititve bodybuilding. We place our faith in a loving God, in whom Joe trusted, to look upon his servant with kindness and compassion, He ultimately being the one and true judge of us all.

Yet Joe's life consisted of more than contest prep and appearances. Even before his first bodybuiding title, he was at outstanding high school athlete, a beloved son, brother, and an inspiration to many friends.
Even though at first glance it appears his life and death were tragic, he lived life as few of us do: accepting and loving to all, humble, kind, generous and with conviction. He easily made many friends through the magic of the internet, always willing to respond to the questions of others and offering advice and insights where he could. I was re-reading his testimony on MCBB today. Although the scriptures above his interview changes daily, I thought today's was very appropriate. “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.” (Deuteronomy 18:15) Listen to Joe's life and hear who he was as a man . . .

better yet the jungle, i bet those people are healthier and happier than we with our brainwashing slavery system.
Why aren't you in the jungle. Don't like mosquitos? Snakes? Like flush toilets, grocery stores, refrigeration, a house that won't wash away during a storm. Don't romanticize nature.

people tend to care alot more about some people after they die.
So no one seemed to care about him when he was alive and and here we have 7 pages of "rip"'s.
kinda proves my ENTIRE FUCKING POINT.

you have to pay with working 8 hours a day for your toilet, food. i just dont like the idea somoene is getting rich over my back. 5% of people own 95% of all the cash, not fair my friend. people like trump give money for charity so they dont pay taxes.those jungle people dont know better and they re blessed, wouldnt you get a better satisfaction rebuilding your wood house washed by a storm than paying your rent, you have to waste half your life on working anyway. we re not that good off, the regular folks.

Then why don't you be one of those 5% and start your own business (see how easy it is) or why don't you go live in the jungle and hunt and grow your own food or would that now make you a slave to nature.
You just sound lazy to me.

Who cares what level of income inequality there is? It doesn't hurt you that Bill Gates is rich. He got rich by providing other people with computer software that they voluntarily purchased and all parties involved benefited and the economy grew. The more money rich people make, the more money exists in the economy. You talk about it as if the economy is a zero-sum game with both a finite and a fixed amount of money circulating. Only the former is true, but the amount finite wealth that exists grows based on economic activity. Thus the more money the rich have, the more money actually exists in the economy and their money makes quality of life better for everyone. That is why the USA is the most powerful country in the world.

For 8 hours of mere labor, a guy who has no mental capacity of figuring things out on his own and who would die if left alone in a solitary situation, is able to live in a comfortable house and have access to products and services that are beyond his capacity to conceive or even understand. These products and services were discovered / invented by people with a much higher capability than his and thanks to civilization and a free market, the man at the bottom of the intellectual pyramid can have access to things by merely doing plain physical work that is within his means to do.
There is nothing cool or human about being a savage in a jungle, living hand to mouth while being subject to every kind of harsh condition that nature will impose upon you. That is nothing more than human beings trying to live like an animal or maybe just a level above, which is no way for someone to exist.

yes...Joe shot himself in the head in front of his mother.........first of all taking your own life is the easy way out...but then doing in front of your mother is very selfish he actually survived the shooting for a little while then died later at the hospital....those are the facts so everyone can stop speculating....

I wonder if that is true. No one has countered it and I imagine that gunshot would be about the quickest and most painless form of suicide [except in a partially botched attempt as explained in that post]. However, that member only has one post to his user name so I will await confirmation on it.

You take so many things for granted, my friend.

People are so misinformed and uneducated on basic economics. Guys like him always talk about employers exploiting employees when both freely entered the transaction and agreed to the terms. Where's the exploitation? And why isn't it exploitation when an employee, say Tom Cruise, who can demand millions of dollars just to work 3-4 months on a film. Or the vast sums of money a professional athlete can squeeze out their employers.
Just the fact that a deal is made means that both parties value more what they are getting than what they are giving, whether it's a used car, a vial of testosterone or your time and labor. Of course you always want more and give less but so does the other guy. So you make a deal.
This El Mariachi can romanticize the life of a savage as much as he wants but he will never move to the jungle. The luxuries he enjoys now, even though he may resent the price, still is a better deal than living in the jungle. And the proof is in the pudding -- he's still with us. This is not a perfect world and life is all about trade offs. You ain't getting everything you want without a price being paid and our wanabe jungle boy friend resents that. But that's when you have to grow up and join the real world.
If not, the Amazon rain forest awaits.

It's part being respectful, considerate and a decent person and not always just being concerned with how you feel and what you think and letting the world know whether or not it's appropriate.
as it should be.

Should I have stayed out? yes. But I like being provocative with the argument Not against the Person if it came across like that.
dude i don't really know you but why go out of your way to disrespect a guy who was a great bodybuilder and a decent human being, if you offed yourself i would feel sorry for you and not disrespect your memory.

The comment about Joe's suicide on bb.com forum was made by someone wanting their 2 minutes of fame at Joe's expense. I commented to that useless jerk directly.
Joe committed suicide yes, and I wish that there was something that any of us that knew him could have done to stop him. He was dealing with a lot of hard problems on top of a great deal of pain and there isn't anyone that should pass judgment on him. He was a great man. He was incredibly intelligent, caring, funny and the best friend anyone could have wished for.

It's a crying shame that you have to spend so much time to register on boards and dispel false rumors and to defend the good name of Joe Meeko. He was an exceptional man whose kindness, generosity, humility, class and sheer decency just shined through. Everyone who knew him or had any contact with him were impressed by the way he treated people.

What saddens me is that someone I cared for, my family cared for is being treated so shabbily. His family has been reading these posts. I hate that people out there look at bodybuilders and self centered muscle heads and that's what they are seeing through some of these posts. Thank God for the rest of you that remember Joe for what he was, a high quality human being that most of us can only aspire to be.

The people who knew Joe either personally or through web correspondance have the highest respect for him. I hope his family are looking at the posts over on Ironage.us about Joe as this is a true reflection of how those who knew him feel. Hope his family can find some comfort in the possitive messages and ignore the nonsence written by kids full of bravado and ignorance.

If they comment negatively they didn't know him. There's no way you could have any contact with Joe and say anything negative. He loved people as soon as he met them and treated everyone with kindness.
I wish he had gotten the footage together. Pray for the family. Lots of hard stuff ahead.

'swede' has consistently proven that he is, indeed, a POS.

joe was going to go the ifbb route, but after meeting joe weider changed his mind, being an old aau guy they probably would have screwed him in the contests. as stated on ironhistory in regards to aau mr americas, the first twelve who died lived to an average age of 78.3 years well above the normal life expectancy at the time. the next twelve died at an average age of 58.9 at the same time the average age expectancy for men went up. how can this be? all this being said joe meeko was a great guy nice to his fans not arrogant at all and he had a lot to be arrogant about....when his wife tried to do him in , he dropped all charges in the aftermath speaks volumes.

Only by a slight margin ;D

I guess what shocks and saddens me the most is why would you (swede) even bother to post in this subject thread to begin with? I believe you said originally that you were unaware of who he was?
About a year ago I was on a well known hardcore bodybuilding site and someone posted a tribute thread to a famous snowboarder that died. I don't know him and I don't snowboard so I just moved on to the next subject thread. It would never even cross my mind to jump in that thread and post the above quote that you posted. And that was about a snowboarder on a bodybuilding site!! At least the thread on Joe Meeko was posted on a bodybuilding site.
My condolences to his friends and family. I'm in my 40's and remember him well. 1984 was my first year competing and I read several articles by and about him. In one of the mags I believe he wrote about training 7 days a week and one body part per session. Ground breaking at the time and I follow it to this day with some slight variations.

kids today think they needn't give respect...they think it has to be earned. They are wrong
Well, there are different types of respect. There's the respect you give everyone unless their behavior proves otherwise. You show that respect simply as matter of courtesy and decency. Then there's the type of respect you show a person that acknowledges the sheer excellence of a person, or a particular quality or ability. That must be earned.
When introduced to a person I know nothing about, it's a matter of courtesy and decency to be respectful simply because he's a fellow human being. I treat him as I want, and insist, on being treated. Of course if I learn later he's a child molester I would not be unduly disturbed if someone chopped him up into little pieces and fed him to his dog.
I have a feeling that Arnold wasn't the nicest guy in the world during his climb to the top and may have been a bit ruthless but you have to respect all that he's accomplished in life. He earned this.
Joe Meeko was a great bodybuilder and our correspondence started out bodybuilding related but that soon took a back seat and then disappeared all together. And when I first started communicating with him he seemed like a decent enough guy. Just like Jay Cutler seems like a pretty decent guy. But over the years as I got to know him better I really grew to admire him and even love him. He's one of those few people you meet in life that inspires you to want to be better. To be a better person. That he earned.
I don't think less of him because he took his own life. Because I knew him somewhat it just made me think how much suffering he must have been going through and how the disease effected his mind to drive him to this point.
RIP Joe, you touched a lot of people through your sheer goodness and decency.

completely agree pellius

if someone close to me died that I knew and respected I wouldnt post it on an anonymous forum, so you dont have to worry about that.
I dont know him, I dont care. You know him You care. I havent said Anything insulting to the man except the first post when I got a bit carried away.
I have a feeling you won't have this problem. I doubt you have many people "close to you" With your attitude I doubt that very much. But, of course you will come back and say I don't know shit and I am fat. Well I do know you are an angry and bitter boy who gets much satisfaction by posting on Getbig and rely on it for support. I do know alos you talk alot of talk but have never ever walked the walk. You are entertaining at times though.

Insights and wisdom that can only come from being around for a while and living life with both eyes open.

It is a tragedy what this thread has become.
If you don't agree with a R.I.P. thread then don't fucking post your arguments in it.
Joe was an awesome guy who i met twice and he would help anyone with anything at anytime.
I respect him more than about any bodybuilder in the 80's.
He had a lot of problems, but everyone has problems in their life at one point.
It is sad to hear of his passing, but it is downright PATHETIC that some cocksuckers are ruining this thread with their immaturity.
R.I.P. Joe Meeko, you will be remembered forever...

Too bad I didnt know Joe lived near me here in Bradford county. We grew up in the same area in the Lehigh Valley. I also had a bout with Lymes disease. It took a doctor that specialized in the disease a PICC line and heavy duty antibiotics. I would of sent him there.

Oh, well — he wasn't going
to write Beethoven's Ninth Symphony anyway.

Oh friends, not these tones!
Rather, let us raise our voices in more pleasing
And more joyful sounds!
Joy! Joy!

You're a jerk!

How can you really get angry at anyone that posts in any of these threads?
You may as well get mad at the world. You log on to Getbig.com. You get what you get.

or go to Junior College and work for the local water department like you did if you recall me exposing that on getbig.

No one is since already been written.
But if you are implying that Joe Meeko won't and didn't have the historic impact that Beethoven did you are correct. So what? Neither will you. But this much I can assure you: he touched far more people's lives in a positive way and will be remember and beloved by far more people than you ever will.
This gratuitous insult and disrespect of a genuinely decent and good man shows, despite your desperate attempts to the contrary, that you are at heart a shallow, vapid, cold and spiteful person and why you inspire genuine dislike and even contempt from people here and no doubt from people in your frivolous and self-indulgent life.

I assure you that I will post the same thing when you pass away. I will consider it an honor.
