I just join a new Gym in my area and I was full of joy when I spotted a pair of 200's in the weight room. the Manager told me that he has a few meathead in the Gym who've been complaining for years to upgrade the dumbell Rack, and the manager, being the smart man that he is, Listened to his customers...hahahahahaha ha.........$43/month basic membership aint bad.

Used as a mere warm up set for the typical getbigger.

lol....I bet most getbiggers would rep 10reps out of these bad ass 200 pounders.
-
Sorry Bro. I am new here and will not be able to lift those for weeks

I would only attempt to do shrugs with them. maybe in the upcoming weeks, I will find out who in that gym is able to press these f.uckers

Only in mere weeks!? Get outta here, you alpha male you! And when you them, please be able to do them on your Leer Jet, while in the air, while in a hurricane, which will destroy Florida, which in turn will break away the US, which in turn will issue the US demise. True Getbigger Style 8)

I always scream light weight when I lift lol

If my ballys gym had some of those im sure their would be some tapout warrior doing 50lb DB presses on the bench next to it or even better some brutal crushes in front of them ::)
-
Unless you're on heavy doses of AAS and have been for years stay the fuck away from those. First of all they are real awkward and you will probably sacrifice all good form trying to do anything with those. Also those are just a hernia or a slip disc away from being out of the gym for months.
The only thing I would ever consider those for would be DB shrugs or deads. Maybe some one arm tricep kickbacks.......kidding.
-
you don't use them, so what difference does it make if they have 200 lb dumbbells
-
Ya, the gym I use to go to in Milwaukee's had them. I think the only person that used them was Art Atwood when he use to workout there. Otherwise nice dust catchers!

Can you imagine how freaking hard it would be just to unrack and rack them again. Most gyms I've seen that had these just had them on the ground under the rack because even the strongest dudes couldn't rack these by themselves. This gym is looking for someone to sue them the day they try to unrack these and they tear their shoulder joint out or pinches their finger right off.
-
I guess even a newbie could rack those. 200lbs isn't so much for 1x1 deadlift... otherwise useless, maybe for chemically modified monsters.
-
You could get really fat and try side pressing them like Anderson:
.
;).
Even thought most will never use them, it's kinda sweet going to a gym that has all sorts of bars, strongman equipment, etc.... It's shows that the owner's do care about people getting strong, etc..... instead of just buying another treadmill or something.

for what? theirs nothing you can do with them unless your arms are as wide as Manute Bols.
-
The only thing I could use those for is a photo-op.

Only person I can think that could use them is Goodrum ::)
-
I thought most of us Getbiggers have to use those for lateral raises so that we can't use too much weight for overhead press???
-

I can try shrugs with these. that's all they can be of use to me. I can't stand barbell shrugs, it kills my shoulders

Yup and mother-fuckers use them too !! :o
-
No only 120's >:(...up tp 150's would be perfect for me.
-
Cool, though I would have a hard time just dead-lifting them...
-

if you can do barbell shrugs with 405lbs, Grabbing a pair of these 200lbs dumbbells won't be as easy.

Animal House is a hell of a nice gym. Nothing like it near me in the NW burbs of Chicago

Ya that gym is awesome. The only gym that seems decent here is Golds in Gurnee..that is close anyway. Near my work everyone talks about Chuck Sanow's gym being a good gym.

Who cares, you'll never even come close to lifting them, in your whole life.
-
our gym goes up to at least 150's and I haven't seen anyone come near them to use
-

Exactly, I rarely see guys go over the 130's, and when they do, it's the fat powerlifters using them for shrugs.
-
back in the 1970's my Uncle could do the 100's and that was a big deal. the former World's has like up to 150's I think they removed the bigger ones...or use them as doorstops
-
yeah but does your gym have these.
-
Is Flex Gym still around?
I heard of it but don't know if its still around. Is that in Kenosha? The 2 better gyms that I knew of in that area (Milwaukee) were Animal House and The Brickyard.
-
we go up 250's one says Ron and the other Coleman
-

I don't do shrugs and I'm a long road from being strong - what would be interesting to me is grabbing them and see if grip strength is suffice to just hold them...
-
Who cares, you'll never even come close to lifting them, in your whole life.
it's not about lifting them, Bozo. it's what you can get out of them.
-

your ass must be weak as hell if you can't press a weakling 130lbs dumbbells. get some Equipose...... ;)
-

Hhahahahahha...ok 'tough guy' if dumbell's aren't for lifting then what would you use them for !?!

To be honest 130 dbs aren't that big of a deal. Flat bench or shrugs should be pretty easy.
-
yeah but does your gym have these.
I actually do have a full set of York globe dumbells in my basement gym. I have bells that go up to 100.

We're talking about strongmen with that were probably on 1/10th of what Colemen uses if at all. If it were apples to apples he wouldn't come close. People seem to forget that part!!

yeah there still in business they even have a website now, google york barbells. the barbell company is right next to the hall of fame and the store is in the same building.
-
York is still in business, but you have to watch the lines. It's split between regular Chinese imports, high-end Chinese, and very high end Canadian and U.S. made goods. The better lines are still excellent, second only to the very high end European lines, in my opinion.

Hahahhaha, I gave up trying to be strong about 6 years ago when I kept getting injuries trying to show off for cardio bunnies in the gym, my idiot buddy tore his pec right off doing 495 on the incline... since then I haven't benched more then 2 1/2 plates a side... no need to, if you're in the gym to flex your ego you're an idiot and asking for injuries. These days I lift for volume and a good pump :)
-
yup, yup. also cover in dust.

thats the silver lining ive found in being generally weak relative to how i look to the average girl. it means im more inclined not to use potentially dangerous poundages since i wouldnt be able to effectively show off that way anyhow

At this point in my life I couldn't care less about how much weight I lift... I worried about that the first 4-5 years of training and in turn ignored form sometimes so I could get an extra 20-50lbs. on a lift, which in retrospect is retarded, I'm sure all the guys in this thread bench 595 and squat/dead 800 no problem.. I personally couldn't care less, I'm too vain and narcissistic to do something stupid like tear a muscle and not be able to train fully for 3 months.
The idiots that try to show off for girls end up showing off more for guys anyway since 99% of girls couldn't care less if you can bench one plate or six, then these idiots rip or tear a muscle and end up getting skinny because they can't workout for 6 months, LOL.
-
There was kid at the gym the other day doing shrugs on the smith machine. He loaded it up with over 400lbs he needed a spot to get out three yeps and his form was laughable. He started dropping the weight and not until he had a single plate per side did I see good form being used. I dont know the purpose of that. I thought maybe he is a power lifter but I never saw a power lifter use the smith machine before. BTW this kid was about 165 lbs 18 years old max. I wanted to offer some guidance but I didnt want to start a bad habit of talking at the gym
-
I wish my gym had a pair of these.
