Calderon told CNN yesterday isn’t quite accurate. Here’s the transcript:
"BLITZER: So if people want to come from Guatemala or Honduras or El Salvador or Nicaragua, they want to just come into Mexico, they can just walk in?
CALDERON: No. They need to fulfill a form. They need to establish their right name. We analyze if they have not a criminal precedent. And they coming into Mexico. Actually…
BLITZER: Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people they suspect are illegal immigrants?
CALDERON: Of course. Of course, in the border, we are asking the people, who are you?"

and the communist democrats applauded this guy.
Typical.

OF COURSE we do... And, of course, we must sit back, grab our ankles and take it like a newbie in jail.
Remember yesterday my friends... Remember them clapping. Then, take that anger to the polls and get rid of each and every one of them.
The more and more I think about it I am thinking voting independent. That is, someone who holds the constitution, less gov't, low taxes, and a "get outta my way" mentality when it comes to governing the people... I don't know if we have this on either side, or we will ever have it again. :-[
-
333386, this is not surprising! A lot of countries out there don't let you go anywhere without showing papers. I always thought it's so great that the United States of America does not require American citizens to carry proof of citizenship with them at all times. I guess, unfortunately, that is about to change.
-
Yeah, you know who ruined it? The illegals who are crashing the system and costing taxpayers billions of dollars, committing crimes, etc etc.
-
well if so many didnt abuse the system it wouldnt be about to change, but unfortunantly there are many who just dont give a shit about doing things the right way, and these people are who the latinos who are worried about profiling should be mad at.
-
Yeah, you know who ruined it? The illegals who are crashing the system and costing taxpayers billions of dollars, committing crimes, etc etc.
Nope. You know who ruined it?
The American corporations who hire illegals, and the US government who turns a blind eye while giving illegals benefits.

I think it all goes hand-in-hand. Illegals want to come here because their country could care the less about them. American and other foriegn companies sees a bank of cheap labor, and politicians, mostly democrat, sees votes. It's a vicious circle and we the tax payers are paying for it.

I agree with you. But I will add that American subsidized corn drove Mexican corn farmers out of business. Then companies like Tyson Foods and Smithfield Foods go to Mexico, hire workers from Mexico and other Central American nations, then take them across the border to the US and put them in trailer parks so they can work at their meat packing plants. The US government does nothing about it, except offer illegals benefits.

No it was not...National IDs were coming into being in america and the rest of the world whether there were people "illegally" in a nation or not. I believe it is Latvia that has already established the National ID card system COMPLETELY in their nation. Everything form buying gas to going to the library to using the internet, to paying your bills etc etc is done through your ID card...there is no option...cash not accepted. You MUST have your ID card with you at all times and you can be arrested for NOT having it. Latvia is not exactly a nation where people pour in from other nations to warrant this action
-
yes, it is important that the US lower itself to the mexican standards. we all know how awesome the mex constirution is...
-
So you want to break illegals legs but not even know who they are first? ::) ::)
-
when they are identified thru LEGAL means which DO NOT IMPEDED THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMEICAN, I am fine with them being crippled.
it's about American rights. You give one a-hole cop the ability to card anyone he wants, and you give an entire police force the ability to round up crowd during any event and cage them until power and wifi access is restored to 'run their papers'.
We both know, you start publicly destroying legs of proven illegals, a helluva lot less walk this way.
No american should ever lose his freedom (and stand there in cuffs while papers are checked) if he has not committed a crime. Fvck that "officer determined probable cause" shiit.
Illegals, they have no rights. They're about as lovable as garbage that washes up from mexican power plants. break em and ship them. They are breaking american law - they are declaring war, as far as I'm concerned. Anyone call me 'soft on illegals', I'll break the first leg myself, pass me the ABS baton kid.
But no american should ever have to sit in cuffs cause some cop didn't like his look. Period.
-
That's explicitly not allowed in the law.

Honestly, would it really bother you 240 for a cop to walk-up and ask you for ID?
-
YES YES YES.
I was detained for 15 min. handcuffed by police. I broke no law, other than looking like someone they were looking for.
They made up some BS about the street lane not allowing a turn - I pointed out the break in the lane - it was near a fire station and yes, 20 people turned there while i pointed it out to the cop.
I looked like the white guy they were looking for. At the time, I sheepled it up, "yes sir" cause I didn't want a bullet in my ass from the 140 pound rookie who was scared to remove the legal weapon from my pocket.
But yes dude - becaue here is the problem - the SAME COP will have the power to gaffle the SAME PERSON any time he wants. Right now, as a cop, I dont have the ability to blindly pull over the mexican who is dating my ex every morning, put him in cuffs, and run his papers daily. With this bill - they do!
There will be abuses. period. If this limits the rights of a single american for 5 minutes - I AM AGAINST IT. Don't worry, the same RINO posers who voted Palin and Romney in 2008 and screamed about 'how they were soooo conservative" while shitting on Tancredo and Ron Paul, are the same confused folks backing this bill.
it deprives americans of their rights - period. Unacceptable to me.
-
240 - the millions of illegals that are hear are depriving taxpayers of their rights.

So it happened to you one time in your life.....15 minutes.....and you are what, 25 or so? C'mon, that isn't that big a deal. There are already cops abusing the system pulling over ex gf's, etc... this type of law being enforced won't change that. I remember walking in an area in Boston years ago and coming upon something going on, cops asked for ID, looked them over and waved us on thru.....took about 10 seconds.
See, in my view, we already give up many rights.....for example expectancy of privacy when in public.....and this is no different. Technically you already are required to carry some form of ID when you are in public.....if not, you can get picked up for loitering, vagrancy, etc... and this really isn't that different.
I'm big on protecting rights....BUT I see the impact of these illegal turds as FAR MORE of an infringement on my rights, than a 5 minute inconvenience.
-

he doesnt care about that he wants to wait until they commit another crime before we can punish them for the first one...nevermind ppl are put in cuffs all the time when they are suspected of commiting a crime whether they did or not...suspected illegals shouldnt be inconvienced right 240? ::)

Sorry..... ;D

those who are willing to trade liberty for security deserve neither - ben franklin.
ONCE, to any american, is unacceptable. I probably would have agreed with you - until I had to stand there helpless in cuffs with my kid staring at me, while this cop waits ten minutes for a buddy to arrive. Then, he shot the shit for 5 minutes with him about this and that, ran my ID in 30 seconds, and sent me on my way. That's 15 minutes I felt helpless and was deprived of my rights. And I'm a college educated white guy who would have NO PROBLEM calling the ACLU and making a website about it in a minute lol... what does some young legal hispanic kid, or some old hispanic woman, have as a recourse? They STFU and endure it. On american soil. When they've done nothing wrong.
until you have to stand there like that - and you've broken no law - you wouldn't understand. Spend 15 min cuffed in front of your kid when you've done nothing wrong - and you may change your position. I might have felt like you do - before.

Illegals are invaders not Americans.
-
I am not an invader. I was detained on american soil.
You know how I feel - if they're illegal, you break them.
If they're legal, you leave them alone. There are already plenty of means besides "grabbing them BEFORE they commit a crime."
Then again, you were probably cool with pre-emptive war too, right? "Iraq MIGHT do something someday... I am sure not going to enlist... but I'm cool with bombing them!"
Pre-emptive right removal of legal americans. Cause they might commit a crime someday?
Sorry guys, I'm all for kicking the illegals out. Just not at the expense of americans. We want the same goal - we just are willing to take diff paths to get there.

So the cops investigating a murder find someone who looks like a suspect should not be able to detain the person unless they are 10000% sure they have the guy?
What the hell is wrong with you?
-
Illegals are invaders not Americans.
American companies are hiring invaders. And the US government gives invaders benefits.
-
True, but that does not hide the fact that these people, with thwe complicity of these corps and the govt are allowing the invasion.

I can understand what you are saying, but I think your reaction to this bill is too much of an emotional one based off of your ONE experience. I've had, uh-humm "other run ins with the law" but I was just using the one above as an example.
We already give up personal rights for the good of society....ex: speeding, should someone have the right to drive their vehicle as fast as they want? Of course not, not on a public road. Same for DWI....etc...
Like I said, I just see them being here illegally, sucking off the welfare system we pay into, leaching off medical care that we pay for, taking jobs from mexi's and legal americans that affects our tax base, social security, etc........... as being a FAR bigger infringement on my "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" than this bill could ever be.
-
hey, we're going to feel differently.
let's put it this way... you've decided that "one time" of 15 min detained is alright.
Would YOU be okay with spending 15 minutes each day, detained in handcuffs?
If yes, okay. Welcome to complete slavery/sheepdom.
If not, how many days per week or month is acceptable? Put a number on it. Once is okay, daily is not. Please list the EXACT number of days per year you are willing to be detained.
if you can't even answer that... you're surely defending somethign you can't quantify.

Please, no one is proposing that unless you plan on committing crimes all day every day since the law requires that the police be interacting with people in investigation or normal police inrteraction.

this 240......I don't plan on being in the vicinity of police interacting with people investigating a crime.....so I would say, I'd be ok with a few times a year. 8)

Rob:
I’m sure it was one of the worst feelings in the world to be pulled over and forced to undergo what you had to endure.
On the other hand, even you have to admit you weren’t pulled over just for the hell of it.
When searching for a suspect & you happen to match the description, there isn’t a whole lot more police can do to verify either way other than to stop & check you out.
And if there’s a chance you’re a legitimately dangerous individual, there are precautions police must employ for everyone’s safety.
I think that’s hardly abuse of power, and I doubt that even the ACLU could prove otherwise.
Now, had they dragged you out of the car, slammed you to the ground, tazered you, etc. before confirming your ID AND without you insinuating a threat, then yeah, that’s flagrantly wrong.
You acted properly, and yes - 15 minutes of your life are forever gone…
Had you started mouthing off into a profanity-laced diatribe & making a scene as so many others do in that situation, then the officers would no doubt have been required to also act more aggressively (as they often do), and then we may have been reading about you attending a White House beer summit.
-
The corporations did it. The corporations did it. Boo hoo hoo. Some of you crybabies on here make me fucking sick. If Americans were willing to work for half the minimum wage with no benefits and no job security, then yeah- Less illegals would come here. But it's a stupid and utterly useless chicken versus egg argument. The bottom line is that the country of Mexico is a disgusting cesspool of violence and poverty and the American Government is a corrupt, incompetent enabler of illegal immigration.
The bottom line is that the big bad corporations are in America legally. The cucarachas that sneak into this country are here ILLEGALLY. We live in a capitalist country (at least somewhat these days). Things like supply, demand, overhead and profits are what count. If the Federal Government isn't going to enforce the laws and businesses can get away with hiring illegals, why the fuck shouldn't they? Why send half your profit margain across the street?
The Mexican government as a whole, the American Government as a whole and the Mexicans themselves are to blame. Period.
Enough with the mindless bellyaching about corporations. It's become a bigger leftist rallying cry than blaming GW Bush.
-
I'd attend the white house summit and order vodka/red bull. Then I'd mock Biden for his "near beer".
-
Wait. 240 was handcuffed for 15 minutes for an illegal turn? I'm calling BS on that one.
-
You call BS on me? Sorry, my highly educated friend. it's the truth, and it was very uncomfortable. I turned over a double line - but there was a clear split there, another street, and many people turn there daily... and they opted not to give me a ticket for that... fancy that?
It was the day after some idiot Huck pardoned walked into a diner and shot 4 cops. There was an amber alert in my town that day as well. Perfect storm of shitty circumstances.
I was armed, as I am legally CWP/CCW. The cop was little and said for his protection, he'd like to cuff me so he could remove the gun from my pocket. Then he waited for backup anyway, etc.
I have no reason to lie about it, BB. It sucked. Matching Amber alert for a young child, so it made sense. But giving the police that ability every day, everywhere? No thanks...
-
What is your probpem, with what happened?
If I fit the description of a murderer on the loose on my street and was detained briefly to check me out I would be ok with that.
-

240 believes they need 2 forms of video proof, 3 eye witnesses at least 1 a senior citizen preferably 2, alcohol and or pot in plain site and a bound and gagged underage illegal immigrant in your trunk before they are allowed to question you for anything...
-
Yet he wants to break the legs of illegals. ::)
-
Just heard some guy on the radio talking about Mexico's immigration policies......we need to adopt them. Talk about all about business...

I wasn't there and don't know exactly what happened, but your story doesn't pass the smell test. The four police officers you referenced were shot in the state of Washington by Maurice Clemmons. That is literally on the other side of the country.
An amber alert would have nothing to do with you, unless you were suspected of abducting a child.
I don't doubt you were cuffed. I seriously doubt it was because you crossed a white line.
-
240 is hopping on the Jesse Jackson bandwagon with this.
-
Rob,
If you were some/any kind of minority, you’d have had all kinds of people beating down your door to embellish and defend your case.
Does the general public have any issues with Caucasians (allegedly) profiling other Caucasians?
Or, does “discrimination” only exist when it occurs between different races/ethnicities?
-

he was suspected beach he fit the discription and he had his child with him...
further more 240 was very understanding after the event until he wanted to knee pad yet some more then he became very very upset ;)

Maurice Clemmons killed: press conference on shooting reveals more details

Maurice Clemmons was named the prime suspect in the Lakewood shooting
Pierce County Sheriff's OfficeMaurice Clemmons was shot and killed by police early Tuesday morning, and a press conference was held in response to the Clemmons shooting. The press conference was hosted by the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, where they detailed what took place after the Lakewood police shooting, and what happened when Maurice Clemmons was shot and killed.
At about 5:16 A.M. PST the press conference took place where it was explained what took place in the early morning hours of Tuesday. It was announced that it was the suspect from the Lakewood shooting that was killed, and he had a weapon belonging to one of the slain officers on his person. It was stressed that this was only preliminary information that they were relaying, and that the ongoing homicide investigation was separate from this conference.
The chief announced that around 2:45 A.M. a lone patrol officer with about seven years of experience on the job came across a stolen vehicle from earlier in the night. The officer saw that the car was still running, radioed the location, and then began a preliminary investigation of the scene. He detected movement behind him, and recognized a person approaching him as the possible suspect from the Lakewood police shooting. He ordered the suspect to stop and ordered the suspect to raise his hands, before the suspect starting moving. The officer fired shots that connected with the suspect, and then found that a firearm from the suspect matches the serial number of one taken from an officer at the Lakewood shooting.
The investigation is still on-going to finalize details of this shooting, and there are two witnesses that saw one or more parts of the altercation. At this time it doesn't appear as though the suspect fired upon the officer, and that the officer is currently being interviewed about what took place at the scene. It was further stated that everything indicates that Maurice Clemmons was the man who killed the four Lakewood police officers, and that Clemmons has been killed in this tragic ending to this massive manhunt.
It was also announced that three people were arrested for assisting Maurice Clemmons in his escape, including the driver of a vehicle that helped Clemmons leave the scene of the shooting in Parkland. The tie of the gun found on the suspect to the crime, a previous gunshot wound to Clemmons, and the fact that he resisted arrest all point towards Clemmons being the guilty party in this matter.

Thank You Beach Bum, he fit the description. There is he "fit the description" and then there is "he fit the description", black men always fit the description, even when they didn't even do the crime. I know of situation, where dude blamed a crime on a black man, turns out, he did it.
It has said quite eloquently, that the Corps, Mexican Govt, American Govt and The Mexican people are to blame...even Mexican officials harass and ask for papers of black mexicans.
Why didn't President Fox and Calderon try to woo American Corporations from going to China for cheap labor. I'd rather my stuff come from Mexico than China? At least it's continental North America. Oh, that's right, Mexico can't insure stability and safety within it's country, a big plus for Corporations in foreign countries, they don't want their companies being nationalized or taken over overnight.
And why don't the Mexican people demand more from their government...well, when you offer cheap labor, one may not be the most intelligent or literate. So, they leave, and the Mexican government doesn't care, less thorn in their side.

"I wasn't there and don't know exactly what happened, but your story doesn't pass the smell test. The four police officers you referenced were shot in the state of Washington by Maurice Clemmons. That is literally on the other side of the country.
An amber alert would have nothing to do with you, unless you were suspected of abducting a child.
"
beach bum, you were AWOL from the board when this all happened.
There was an amber alert on ft myers beach (i'm in estero, right next door) for a 30-something guy and a boy mine's age and look. The cops told me they were on their toes due to the shooting, which was big breaking national news. Hell, they knew how many kids total (9 i think) that the 4 officers had. You dont think cops on this coast notice major stories like that?
I was stopped because I drove over a double yellow line - it broke so I thought it was okay to turn there. everyone else does. Cops said there was no turning there. Everyone sitll does. I dunno why they stopped me. But they checked out my kid up close, they checked my gun, etc.
You konw the law well - and you come at me attacking me on an incident which I described in great detail here on getbig.
I was very understanding after the event - I understand. But it sucked. it sucked big time. You want to doubt me, that's fine beach bum... i'm sure you've never been cuffed in your life, that's fine. The feeling is something you can't describe til it happens to you. I wouldn't want to see more legal, innocent americans go thru that shit.
-
Rob, in the state of Maryland, if a person is arrested for a crime, he gets taken to a court commissioner, this commissioner decides if there is probable cause for the arrest, based upon the officer's statement of charges. There is a initial appearance hearing, if the Comm determines that there is no probable cause, the defendant is released.
-
I can see how a cop would put someone in cuffs for whatever reason - and leave them there longer than necessary, very easily.
how many times have yall been in cuffs? it's some seriously disturbing shit.

you broke a traffic law and you got pulled over and fit the discription of a person with a child that had been kid napped...I REALLY DONT SEE WHY YOURE SO PISSY ABOUT IT?????????
by your logic if a cops has a little power they will over use it, but by you logic they can do that with all laws...tell me how its different?
you dont think that cops should be able to detain suspected criminals? honestly 240 answer this without the yada yada yada bs a serious conversatoin..
-
I said I understood that situation. I used it to illustrate how much it sucked being cuffed.
Now, am I okay with 40 million legal hispanic americans being cuffed because "they look like illegals"?
Nope.

Who said they'll be cuffed? It's not common practice for people to be cuffed while asking for identification.

dude you broke the law, you or your kid fit the discription of a child that had been kidnapped so you were detained until it was cleared up...what the fuck is the problem with that?
-
hey, we disagree. no need to get all swearing at me. i respect the opinion of those who say it's a-okay.
-
LOL 240 still holding on to his mexican maid. ;D

ok well tell me what you feel they did wrong?

He feels "violated".
Plus he was probably a smart ass, telling the cop he had no reason to stop him and he has rights and shit like that. ::)

he broke the law, fit the description of a person with a kid who had been kidnapped and was detained until it was determined he wasnt the guy...I really truly dont see the problem here and I would like 240 to tell us all why he felt violated...

He's just going to ramble on about rights.
I really don't see what the roblem is either, if you're not breaking the law, you don't have anything to worry about.
-
"you would like 240 to tell you..."
lol relax dude, it's just the internet. I hated being cuffed. I broke a traffic law (arguably). Do people now deserve 15 min in cuffs for crossing a double yellow line?
All I know, if Obama was recruiting ACORN to 'check papers' on bearded white guys, we'd have riots.

you werent put in hand cuffs b/c you broke a traffic law brain child...way to spin ::)
you were hand cuffed b/c you had a gun and matched the discription of a person or a child who had been kidnapped...
I agree if you had been hand cuffed b/c you simply broke a traffic law it would have been excessive but given the circumstances I dont see the problem
so you think that no person who is suspected of a crime should be handcuffed or detained?
-
Especially with a child and gun in the car while an amber alert is going on and 240 fits the descrption of the perp.
-
hey, believe what you want, I'll believe what I want.
I don't want an America where "show me your papers comrade" is acceptable if a person hasn't broken a law. I don't want an America where it's up to some high school grad insecure beta male cop to decide if I need 15 min on the curb for a traffic violation.
Spend a few minutes in cuffs in front of your family, see if you feel the same. It sucked guys. I know, without experience you woudln't know.

LMAO but you DID BREAK THE LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so you feel that unless a person is convicted of a crime then they shouldnt be detained?

I have been placed in cuffs "for the officers safety" if 240 had a gun,(permit or not) this could be a viable reason to be cuffed.

No one is attacking you. At least I'm not. I got no beef with you. I just don't believe your story.
I watched a little bit of the Greta discussion with Newt yesterday. She said every law has the potential to be abused. There is nothing stopping crooked cops from abusing the law and profiling now.
But that isn't what happened in your situation. No, you didn't get pulled over and handcuffed in Florida because some black guy in Washington, on the other end of the country, shot some police officers. And I seriously doubt they cuffed you because you fit the description of the suspect in a child abduction. Is it possible? Sure. But not something either one of us should lose any sleep over.
-
I used the cuffed situation - because I dont want to see other americans go thru that if they dont have to.
and the list of scholars and repubs and lifelong conservatives who say this law gives police the ability to break the law... it's not like this is just Obama/ed schultz crying about it. Tom Tancredo and Bill Kristol don't like this bill... I mean, that's as far-right as you can get lol.
-
The police already have the ability to approach anyone they suspect may have broken the law.
-
they why do we need this law? what is diff about it?
-
Because the federal government isn't doing its job to protect the borders, particularly in Arizona, and Arizona has over 400,000 illegals.
-
that does not make sense. police already have the power to approach anyone they think broke the law. being an illegal is breaking the law. so they already have this power. right?
-
Technically. Which is another reason why the uproar doesn't make any sense.
I think it might also serve as somewhat of a deterrent.
-
ah gotcha
the real reason for this law? I think jan brewer wants to be the VP selection in 2012.
she appeals to a lot of ppl with this law. and obama is getting majorit of hispanic vote, let's be honest.
-
Possibly. But I'm not sure this is something the governor initiated? Even if she did, it is something the majority of the people in her state want and something the majority of the country agrees with.
I don't think the Hispanic vote will decide the 2012 election. It will likely be decided by the same people who put Obama in office: independents and crossover Republicans.
-
that does not make sense. police already have the power to approach anyone they think broke the law. being an illegal is breaking the law. so they already have this power. right?
I think that's the whole issue. Police must have reasonable suspicion. An illegal alien is illegal simply by being on US soil. But how do you deem if he is illegal? The most prominent way is appearance and that's why those who oppose the law say that it will inadvertently target pretty much everyone (illegal alien or US citizens) who happens to look mexican, hispanic or latino. I'm 100% for enforcing immigration laws but I can't see how the Arizona law differentiates illegals from citizens just on looks alone. After the uproar Gov. Brewer went on to say that the law does not discriminate and does not involve racial profiling. So how exactly will the law target illegals only?
As for the political damage done, i think a small minority of hispanics will agree with the law (and quite rightly since they are the ones who will get a bad name due to all the illegals), the vast majority of them will disagree (probably the same ones who fly the mexican flag above the US flag or like that propagandist teacher who talked about "occupied Mexico") so I don't think it's gonna change anything.
