Since I started bulking about 10 months ago I have packed on a solid 35 pounds.
I've gained a lot of muscle mass, especially in my bi's, shoulders, traps and quads.
I'm also starting to get a gut. The abs are almost totally hidden, and i'm starting to see noticable fat on the sides of my stomach when I bend forward.
As I look at my soft body in the mirror, the sight I see is not good at all. I don't care if I have more muscle, my overall apperance just looks shitty compared to when I was ripped. I've never in my life had this much body fat before.
Time to start hitting the bicycle and the jumprope again. I'm not trying to turn into a fatass here.
At what point do you say "enough" and cut back down? When do know you've reached the climax of the bulking phase?

When I feel the way you feel.... It's hard, if not impossible, to have it both ways as a natural. Muscles don't 'bulge'' through shirts when your really lean so I find myself wanting to bulk back up as soon as I start getting lean. It's really psychological for me.
But I'm with you 99%, I'd rather be less muscular and less self conscience about going shirtless than being more stronger but yet out of shape physically.

Exactly. Being out of shape sucks. I know it's all for a goal of building more muscle, and it is working, but looking in the mirror and seeing cellulite forming is not cool. Not cool at all. I've always prided myself on being healthy and in shape, now I'm not feeling that way.
I'm gonna up the cardio and drop the cals a bit.

35 lbs in 10 months is a lot. If you diet down and have added 5-7 lbs of muscle that would be considered a huge success. GL sir.

I'm not worried about getting some fat because of how it looks. It's more a of a health thing in my mind.
It's more like, i'm looking at my bodyfat rise, and i'm asking myself "What the fuck am I doing? This is insanity." And it's all just to gain a little muscle. The whole bulking thing is just starting to lose it's attraction to me.
Especially when I thin about the fact that when I cut down, i'll burn off a lot of the muscle I gained along with the fat.
When you make lean gains and your bodyfat is staying low, bulking is cool.
But when you start to get into the zone where you're pushing into the "chubby" status, that's when it's time to rethink things.
It's not that bad though, just a little soft around the midsection.

At my heaviest I was more muscular and shapely than you could ever hope to be, superior genetics at work. The only way you could get within 50 lbs of me is if you eat a 45 lb plate. Of course....you would need help lifting it. Go ride your bicycle to the movies tiny.

My ultimate goal is to be a really lean 170. Or somewhere around there. So I was just gonna bulk up then cut back down and be ripped with a little muscle gain.

My heaviest was about 238 while holding lot of water. Still BF not too high , still slightly visible abs.
Probably never been higher than 15% in my whole life - most of the times I keep it to about 12% and go down to 10% for summer.
Pretty easy for me to do , very fast metabolism..
