The truly sad part to all of this is that this kid has no idea what he is trying to get himself into.
There is NO money in being an IFBB pro, unless you either make it to be a top tier pro consistently landing top 5 placings in all major contests thereby garnering you many sponsorships OR you learn to hustle in the industry.
What does hustling consist of? Selling steroids, narcotics, recreational drugs, doing Gay-4-Pay, holding workout sessions with schmoes and many other things I don't want to mention.
Victor should know better. Instead of mentoring this kid into losing his present career (Regardless of it being an elevator technician), he should motivate this kid towards working for a degree or solid trade. It surprises me that the kid's girlfriend is a Nurse and instead of obviously telling the guy about the troubles of messing with illegal hormones and a career leading nowhere, she is instead slaving away in a kitchen making ridiculous amounts of meals for an overgrown behemoth.
The most ridiculous portion of this video is when this kid states that during his shift he diligently carries around a cooler with various meals and water in order to stay on top of his dietary needs. That is bullshit. There is no need to be that anal about meals when you are on the amount of drugs that these guys are using.
This is a sad case. Someone needs to talk some sense into this kid..

What, do you have an issue with reading comprehension whereby you need to reiterate exactly what I said in two sentences or less, or are you just a dyslexic retard?
You might have to take a backseat on this one and truly shut the fuck up. I've trained with these guys, supported many of them and know the trouble they run into when they go bad on their financial responsibilities.
This particular kid has a good attitude and is being blinded by the stupid magazine covers and illustrious IFBB card that isn't worth a food stamp.

Good posts, as always, 1.
The way these videos portray bodybuilding, as if the only virtue in it comes from brutal sacrifice and endless self-torture -- the will to destroy yourself for something "higher" -- is FUCKING DISGUSTING. Kids who watch these things are horribly misled. There is nothing noble about what you are doing. You are injecting needles in your ass and spending absurd amounts of mental and physical effort to "pick things up and put them down" so that, at the end of the day, you can live with a "perfect body" which is the envy of everyone else (or so you tell yourself). Attempting to sanctify this process by ignoring what is actually being done (lifting weights, gorging your face, injecting hormones) and speaking only of "hard work," "discipline," and "self-sacrifice" isn't noble, IT'S PATHETIC. And, just as it's said about jews, women, etc., a weightlifter by any other name is still just that -- a person who lifts weights so that they can look better than everyone else.
At least be honest with yourself, even if you are in the cult of lies, and can't bring yourself to be truthful with others. To be so ashamed of your desires that you have to sublimate them like this... is sad. Very sad.

Have you seen this "kid" with his shirt off? He's chosen his career, it's not repairing elevators, that's his day job.

Im going to have to respectfully disagree with your assessment, my friend...
You say he has no idea what he's getting himself into...what would that be, exactly? He already has MHP and MD behind him, and Victor helping him as well....Victor, who has done pretty well himself financially...
He never makes any statements of quitting his job, or delusions of grandeur...just that he has a goal.
You then seem to give him two options...be a top 5 pro and make the big buck....or be hustled into the seedy underworld of G4P, etc....how about he continues to work AND competes at the same time....as many others have done? There is no guarantee he wins the USA, or turns pro anytime soon (trust me, I know a little about this subject...) He never makes any ridiculous statements, or seems to be unrealistic in the video...
As for bringing his food and water to the job...lol...pretty much standard procedure if youre going to contend for the top prize...why would you view that as "pathetic" rather than "dedicated"? If you think being on steroids is a substitute for getting a hot dog and a beer after sweating your ass off in an elevator shaft for 6 hours...I've got news for you...it isnt. AAS isnt a substitute for cardio, or clean eating, or training...
You're usually pretty spot on your posts...on this, you're way off base and make a lot of assumptions which he never even eludes to...

One has nothing to do with the other...He's had contracts with MHP and MD for YEARS....not to mention prize money, guest appearances, and other businesses he's had a part in

That means he's making some kind of money. There's a big difference with doing well financially. Everyone who's got a job makes money aven if that is very little money in the end. How come in other "sport"s what the athletes make is headline news but nobody really knows what Bbers make? Specially that the "investment" needed for pros to be pros is not taken' into account.

So, whats the point youre trying to make?
Bernie Madoff was a MILLIONAIRE...didnt stop him from continuing his schemes, did it?

Very strange comparison. Madoff was a crook from the start. Is that a giveaway of how you see Pro Bbers?

He wasnt a crook from the start, he got greedy and thought he could get away with pretty much anything given his status in the industry....and did, for a very long time.
Just because people are making a good dollar, doesnt preclude them from making poor decisions and being greedy...

Well, you know as I know that that's an extremely relative notion. One man's......Considering all the shady things that have been revealed about Pro Bbing, notably on this board, it's always a bit weird to hear you stating that those shady activities (drug dealing, G4P, etc...) have nothing to do with Bbing per say but are only the works of poor individual decisions. But you've got your own situation to protect which is perfectly understandable.

"My own situation to protect...." what are you talking about?
There is a "shady" part to any industry...financial, movie, music, sports, etc...just because a few decide to do questionable things, doesnt make it the norm...the are plenty that have legitimate jobs, raise families, make an honest living...but thats of little interest to most of the trolls here...and much less to feed into their vivid imaginations...

Im going to have to respectfully disagree with your assessment, my friend...
Nothing wrong with that Robert, always a pleasure to discuss these types of topics amongst friends.
You say he has no idea what he's getting himself into...what would that be, exactly? He already has MHP and MD behind him, and Victor helping him as well....Victor, who has done pretty well himself financially..
Robert, this kid is NOT you or Victor. While he does have MHP and MD behind him, they certainly aren't paying him the type of money that they would pay you or even Victor (When he does place high). It's all about how marketable an athlete can be and how much money they can also bring the sponsor in return and this young man isn't too high on the IFBB foodchain to be capable of bringing in fans, money etc..
He never makes any statements of quitting his job, or delusions of grandeur...just that he has a goal.
I agree. That's why I have stressed through many of my posts thus far, that he is a genuine kid with a good heart.
Even if he does continue to work hard and competes, that is no guarantee that he will make a decent living from the combination of the two. The amount of money that is spent monthly on steroids and other things, like food, can take a toll on the meager salary he will be receiving from competition and sponsorships. While he can certainly continue to work as an elevator technician, lets face it, it isn't necessarily a Mark Dugdale-esque career that will truly allow him to make REAL money and live comfortably.
AAS isnt a substitute for cardio, or clean eating, or training.
I don't think that being on steroids will be a substitute for cardio or solid training (Which most professional bodybuilders don't do as much as they or EVEN you used to when in competition), but I do feel pretty certain that the use of GH has allowed for a sloppier diet to be employed when training. I could be wrong, but I have seen many of the NYC pros eating their share of McDonald's & pizzas even while prepping for a show.
You're usually pretty spot on your posts...on this, you're way off base and make a lot of assumptions which he never even eludes to...
You are correct in that I am making assumptions that he did not necessarily make. I am making these assumptions because I've seen the troubles that these men TRULY run into once they enter this so-called lifestyle and start to realize that there isn't a safe financial future ahead of them.
Victor is a very nice guy and I appreciate the fact that he has taken a liking to this young man, but Victor knows VERY well about the types of issues that "pros" can run into when it comes to money, especially when they aren't going to be a top tier pro.
There aren't many men that make GREAT money in this sport and you know that. If you're a top five guy and have various sponsorships (the combination of which might get you close to or over 100K), plus a good number of high placing and/or wins, then yes, you can make decent money.
If you're a solid business man (i.e. Robert Michael and especially Shawn Ray), then yes you can make decent money, because you are HIGHLY marketable and can serve as a spokesperson for the sport. A figurehead that most supplement companies, targetting young youths looking into bodybuilding, would gladly invest money into because when you SPEAK, it is convincing. Most pros are not as well spoken as Shawn Ray or even Robert Michael, but they always think that someone will "pick" them up and give them money for a few pictures and for showing up to a few booths throughout the year.
Again, Robert, I don't mind being disagreed with, but there is more that I am not saying (purposely), that I know you have seen over the decades involved within this sport.

Why do you bother with these jealous bitches, they have 16 in arms and have never seen their abs....and although they live on bodybuilding forums 24-7 for years they still can't understand that competitive bodybuilding is drivan by passion not money
-
Why do you bother with these jealous bitches, they have 16 in arms and have never seen their abs....and
I'm sorry friend, but I am not sure if your reference was made towards me.
With regards to having 16 inch arms and never seeing my abs, I actually used to work out with Victor, Jason arntz and Kamali back in Johnny Lats Gym, Steel Gym AND also for the entire 2 years that Victor had his own gym. I have arms that range between 18-20 inches depending on the type of weight and bodyfat that I carry and I see my abs at least 6 months out of the year, sometimes even less. If you're going to say the old, "Pictures to prove it", I've posted many pictures throughout the years with Victor, Jason Arntz, Kamali and a few others to prove my size in comparison.
they live on bodybuilding forums 24-7 for years they still can't understand that competitive bodybuilding is drivan by passion not money
Regarding living on a forum 24/7, I actually work for a very large financial firm doing institutional trading, while holding together 3 outside family businesses that handle the accounting needs for many small-to-medium sized businesses across New York City.
Oh and regarding the competitive nature that is driven by passion and not money, I understand that, but in REAL LIFE passion doesn't pay the bills, money does.
If you guys want to live out of your Tupperware container year round, that's fine..
Like I said, I have been there with some of these guys during their hard times, when their finances have been through the gutter and someone needed to bail them out by filling out their tax forms due to tax evasion and heavy fines. I've sat with these guys countless times when their lives have gone upside down due to drug-related (Steroids, Street Drugs etc..) arrests and a criminal record that has not allowed them to get any odd jobs on the side to make rent.
Passion won't save you from life's hardships..

Also, while I am not sure whether or not you thought this comment out, it really holds no favor in terms of your argument.
Please understand, that I don't mean this with any offense towards you, since I don't know you, but the size of your arms or the visibility of your abs means nothing in the real world. Joe Weider, Arnold, most of the top men in supplement companies and all the heads of the IFBB have abs that you can't see and at this point arms that fall short of 16 inches, but you better bet your ass that Bob and the rest of the pros listen in very carefully to what these "big" men say.
That's as if I were to say, "Why does society bother with these overgrown behemoths, that with their 20-inch arms and visible abs are solely capable of just lifting things up to put them down, but have clearly never lifted up a book for their own edification and have very little savings or actual property to justify their place in this world?"
That would be an asshole comment to make and in my opinion isn't true, but really it's easily comparable to your comment about 16 inch arms and visible abs.

First, you don't need to be a hero and spend a fraction of your life trying to save the bodybuilding community from their "curse" It's non of your business that someone else has the desire to challenge themselves and take their body to the extreme because they like bodybuilding
second, your argument about money is dumb, no one gets into bodybuilding for money, and if you can't afford to do so then, once again it's non of your business, go tell the average person with an average income not to spend money an a corvette, or don't take a vacation cause they can't afford it, or don't pay for a hobby cause it is out of their income range.
third, all kinds of dangerous activities people do out there because it's sooths the soul, people like risk, people like extreme, and bbq's and super bowl simply don't cut it for some, do you see how big of an idiot I would be to go on a dirt bike site and tell them they are stupid cause all the harmful aspects associated with dirt bikes, or skiing or mountain climbing, or boxing, or...you get the picture'
I just don't understand your post without thinking that you have an agenda, a hatred towards bodybuilding while spending time on a bodybuilding site...what are you trying to accomplish... do you think people will think twice about bodybuilding based on your insight or are you rambling out of jealousy cause you try to look like some of these guys but couldn't cut it....fill me in on what motivates you to taking time off your successful life (as stated above in your post) to post how shameful a bodybuilders lifestyle is.
one more thing, what is your opinion on how hard this individual works on a daily basis, dieting, working, training, surely you can recognize the commitment, discipline hardship that goes with it?

To be so ashamed of your desires that you have to sublimate them like this... is sad. Very sad.

I've read the same stories about Olympic athletes, football players, and just about any other industry you can think of...people overcoming obstacles in life...choosing a sport or interest to try and keep a focus on something other than getting in trouble, stealing, etc..

Exactly..going by his theory then we should just sit on our behinds and watch TV because everything out there is pointless. People just don't get it

All you told me there is that it is none of my business what anyone does.

A hatred towards bodybuilding? My dear friend, my husband and I have sponsored a large amount (20+) of NPC athletes during their bodybuilding careers. Hatred? I'd say I have a very dear place in my heart for the "sport" of bodybuilding.
Regarding your notion of probable jealousy (wanting to look like these guys), please understand that "these guys" are outcasts in society. No one would hire these guys besides a: security company, law enforcement, construction companies, UPS, Fed Ex, Elevator shaft repair companies and a bunch of other manual labor-type industries.
I don't want to look like any of them, I actually prefer the build of Ryan Reynolds or Brad Pitt, a build that looks non-intimidating and normal in everyday clothes.
Why do I care so much? I'll tell you. I'm one of those men that your so-called "pros" have come to when in times of trouble. When your big supplement companies drop these guys due to bad placing or "questionable activities" that lead to legal problems, they resort to folks like me to discuss "options". When some of the more famous IFBB pros in the NYC area went sour on their many debts to society (IRS, Landlords etc..), they come to me to help them fix their shortcomings by way of proper IRS form manipulation and legal handling of their many subpoenas.
Put it to you this way, my dear friend.... You guys get rid of all the "GAY" affluent men, like myself, behind the scenes who support you guys and continue to pour money into the "sport" hand over fist and you can just kiss this sport goodbye.
one more thing, what is your opinion on how hard this individual works on a daily basis, dieting, working, training, surely you can recognize the commitment, discipline hardship that goes with it?
For that question, I will direct you to a very eloquent post made by cephissus, this is my sentiment exact:

P.S. Another reason why I care about these guys is because on occasion, they do take time off of their busy schedules and make their way up to our condo in the Tribeca area for a private posing session. A posing session, with no touching of any sort, that always allows them to walk away with prize money that is higher than any first place prize on any of the major IFBB shows (excluding the Olympia & Arnold).

I've read the same stories about Olympic athletes, football players, and just about any other industry you can think of...people overcoming obstacles in life...choosing a sport or interest to try and keep a focus on something other than getting in trouble, stealing, etc..
And it's just as sad in those cases you mention. Popular thought only considers laborers as "good folks." Everyone else is a thief of some sort.
Why can't we just marvel at his physique? Because it's vain? Yes: it has to be made acceptable and can only be appreciated as a product of dedication to an ideal. We are slaves to guiding spirits, to ideals. To outside "guiding forces" which direct our "poor, wretched souls" to salvation.
The bodybuilder SHOULD be above such things. He wants a great body, and he gets it! That is his achievement. Not gruelingly stuffing dry chicken and rice down his throat, not slavishly blasting his muscles, not picking up massive weights. These are by-products. And yet bodybuilders everywhere are forced to bow down to the stupidity of the people, and pretend they too are only good by virtue of their "hard work" -- which, as I've pointed out before, is usually not hard at all, because they love to do it.
In the end, we honor not the physique, but the "work" behind it. So kids grow up thinking that this work is what is important, and not actually the enjoyment of building a superior body (and whether a superior body is built at all even becomes inconsequential, in the worst case). They endeavor to make the work as hard and miserable as possible so they might achieve the best physique possible, and perhaps even more importantly, the most honorable physique possible. It's a sad state of affairs, considering the origin of bodybuilding: building a better body than the next guy, making yourself look better than him. There's nothing "honorable" in the modern sense about this, and so it will never agree, despite the disgusting efforts of moralizers everywhere, with all the bogus speech about "hard work" and "dedication."
The bodybuilder is made ashamed of himself, and turned into a liar precisely by this process. Why does anyone have trouble admitting drug use? Because it shatters the illusion of superior character ("genetics") first, and detracts from one's "good, honest work" second. Why does anyone lie about how much weight they can lift, or how much time they spend in the gym, or how much they eat? None of this makes any difference to the physique, after all! But if they don't eat 8 times a day, if they don't train once in the morning and once at night, if they don't have "real muscles" which can lift "heavy weights," then they are no longer enviable in the eyes of the common laborer, who is ubiquitous and understands only these virtues, and otherwise would give no honor to the bodybuilder whatsoever. In fact he actively looks to degrade him at all times, being jealous of his body, and has almost completely succeeded with his newfound knowledge of steroids. Now that the average man knows about steroids, the guise of the "hard working, virtuous athlete" has been almost entirely stripped from the bodybuilder, and he is widely seen as a drug addicted narcissist with severe mental problems.
It's too bad the bodybuilder can't accept himself. He only makes his case worse by trying to trick everyone with his appeals to laborer/slave virtues... it's a thin disguise, and easily seen through at this point. Instead of being a direct liar in addition to a shady fraud, he should make like Groink and appeal to his physical superiority, which eats constantly at the hearts of his detractors.

Ok then, I will give you the benefit of the daubt, but logically you can't deny that others come here and make fun of bodybuilders for reasons different then yours. most people who do make fun of bodybuilder are not big and usually out of shape.

I'm glad we can make peace from this.
Trust me, as Bobby made reference to in his post:
You're usually pretty spot on your posts...
....I usually am spot on with my quality posts regarding the sport and I'm in no way trying to defraud anyone in this "sport".
I just think I have a pretty good eye for talent and while this kid has the heart of a lion, we both know that it isn't enough at times.
Either way, I do wish him and all of the local & state competitors on this site the best of luck in their endeavours and will continue to help as best as I can by way of sponsorships..

If you're insinuating that I might often times run around New York City in the middle of the night, wearing nothing but a spandex bodysuit and a long cape, then yes, you are correct in your assumptions.
I wouldn't categorize Bay that easily. I am sure he has his own thoughts on things, but around these parts, I am but a helping hand to up and coming talent.

No shopping spree here friend, usually the bodybuilder brings the goods that are for sale..

yes, through the years of looking at these bodybuilding boards, myself being a young delusionite (true adonis term) looking for "cutes", and one more rep apparently just scouting for "talent", we've talked often.
no, not about fisting or whatever gays talk about, more business related, finance, real estate, etc. stuff as we've now both been through real estate/ finance booms and busts that we're both somewhat involved in (1 more than myself, as mine's a little more than a hobby).
anyways, his thoughts are usually spot on, and i think i can translate for you bottom bitches on what he's saying:
1. the elevator repairman job - it's not some shit job it used to be; the unions have a monopoly on elevator work, as elevators are in high rises, which in big cities (and especially new york) are union maintained, which means excellent pay and benefits, for dudes with no college education. so if this kid decides to pursue it, and with a little more effort than showing up on time, can make a 30 year career out of it, as elevator companies usually have maintenance contracts with buildings (because inspections have to be done annually). meaning, if you're hired by an elevator company, it's most likely because they absolutely had to hire you and need the manpower, not just to satisfy a short term need (how many high rises are being built in nyc today?)
2. young bodybuilders are absolutely in it for the money and fame. yes, we all know there's no money and fame at all, but they don't. i'm sure he's seen victor or whoever his idol is around some "powerful" men (which are closer to a gay sponsor like '1' than bloomberg, but i digress), and thinks he'll get the same. when asked why he'd be around a shadeball like victor, he'd say some spew victor told him, "all lies, etc".
3. bob saying that a select few ruin the bastion of purity that is bodybuilding is just a lie. just type in "bodybuilding" into youtube. the first 100 hits are dudes 17-25 posing in their underwear. when i type "nfl" into youtube i don't get softcore porn.
4. also...*insert top nfl, nba, mlb player of choice name here* never fucked a grapefruit.
so yes, it's a niche sub-culture that is heavily supported by gay men (who "sponsor" the athletes drugs) and impressionable teens aged 13-16 who buy the supplements with their allowance. the same can not be said for professional athlets, who command a very high premium by adults for sporting tickets that don't take place on a sunday night at the local high school.
*waiting for chick to say football is as gay as bodybuilding because they wear spandex on the field*

LOl...bullshit. The kids today have access to info we didn't years ago via the Internet...they are MUCH more educated as to the realities of life, etc...

"bodybuilding" is a pretty general term...of course a bunch of shit is going to come up...NFL is specific. type in IFBB see if you get the same....type in SEX...see what comes up
4. also...*insert top nfl, nba, mlb player of choice name here* never fucked a grapefruit.
nope...just raped, killed, dog fighting, cocaine, etc, etc.....I'm thinking violating produce is pretty low on that list....to most people.

no question some of that exists..as I already stated....point being, that MOST pros don't. it's clearly the exception, not the rule...but you believe whatever you want...
*waiting for chick to say football is as gay as bodybuilding because they wear spandex on the field*
Neither are gay, but I'm sure that there is an equal amount of gays in both....besides, with names like " tight end" and " wide receiver" and a quarterback receiving the ol pigskin as he's palming another mans balls...

Resorting to irony in hopes of dismissing a good post. I'd say you're witty. But not witty enough to adress the fact that Pro Bbing seems sponsored either by crooks selling bogus supplements or schmoes. BTW, how do you make a living, Chick? That will "spell" it as you asked earlier.

I make a living in the business of bodybuilding, as a Weider athlete, as a spokesman for supplement companies and retailers, as a MC of events...
not quite sure what has your panties in a bunch about that, but have at it my friend....so, just what is that supposed to " spell" out?

first of all, what kind of hand offs are you used to? you know damn well there's no ball cupping during snaps. yes, there is a gentle glide down the scrotum of the center while getting in position, but that's just a couple guys playing a sport.
i will give you credit for the point of grapefruit fucking being much more mild than killing, robbing, raping, etc. but those in pro sports convincted of such sports are usually ridiculed and often are ousted out of the league (sans Michael Vick, i don't know how he's still in it). The grapefruit fucker is the "face" of bodybuilding, as was Victor a couple years ago. Remember he was freshly out of his drug conviction when he won the Arnold?
Speaking of that kid idolizing Victor, I also knew Michael Jordan had a gambling problem and fucked around on his wife constantly, yet to this day i'm ignoring that fact. Most kids idol worship will blind them to the reality, no matter how much research is available to them.
I realize there's hundreds of pro cards out there, and you never hear about 99% of them, because they're for the most part normal dudes who enjoy doing it. But the couple dozen or so that always fuck shit up (usually the dozen that do shows on a consistent basis) smear the rest of it.
Also, i've never seen a guy in a trenchcoat masturbating in the back row at a baseball game.

The most ridiculous portion of this video is when this kid states that during his shift he diligently carries around a cooler with various meals and water in order to stay on top of his dietary needs. That is bullshit. There is no need to be that anal about meals when you are on the amount of drugs that these guys are using.
First of all it was ME who said that he carried his cooler around. I based that comment on my observations only.
Second, his statement alone shows that you don't know what you are talking about. Have you personally done this? Have you taken drugs, not been diligent about your diet and won a national level show?
Until you have done that you are "talking out of your ass", as we used to say in Philly.
