Dorian didnt squat because it was a useless excercise FOR him. He said legpress was MUCH more effective. He squated early in his career because he thought you had. Then he decided to think for himself and saw he wasnt built for squats. Everyone is differant moron, make up your mind for yourself. Dont squat because your hero Ronnie did. Do squats hit your quads, do they overload your hip-flexors, are they overworking your glutes?  Fucking christ your threads suck. Yes meltdown LOL!!

I'm not juiced, I'm 41 years old and unless I do decided to take that option, the likelihood of my legs continuing to grow is pretty small. I like to squat, but I find one legged leg presses seem to be working well enough for me also, without worrying about knees, lower back or neck issues. I always thought squats were a great exercise, but fuck, if I can maintain what I have with some energy left over, by doing leg presses, why not?

I think mens 75kg. The lifters look very athletic and the way they press 200kg above their head is just something else imo. All of them are brutal strong, I'm just a fan.

Squats are the absolute best builder of Bone Density for the entire Spinal region.  This in itself should make the exercise a required mainstay as this region is especially important as one ages.

Measured here is the current World Record Squat Holder and his Spinal Region.  What was found is that he was able to have over TWICE the amount of critical compression with absolutely zero damage with absolutely ZERO damage or degradation to any region in his spine/back.

https://www.thieme-connect.com/ejournals/abstract/sportsmed/doi/10.1055/s-2000-7417

DEXA scan revealed the highest bone mineral density reported to date.
MRI revealed normal alignment, no evidence of disc herniation or compressive disc disease. There was no frank or neural foraminal canal stenosis. The estimated compressive force generated on his lumbar spine during the squat lift of > 469 kg doubles the previously reported critical compression force. This case study supports the previously described relationship between strength and bone density and redefines the upper limits of bone density in strength athletes.

Here is a study that shows the SQUAT vs. the Leg Press as far as muscle development goes.

http://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Abstract/2001/09000/Effects_of_technique_variations_on_knee.20.aspx

Conclusions: The greater muscle activity and knee forces in the squat compared with the LPL and LPH implies the squat may be more effective in muscle development

Here is another of the Squat PWNING the shit out of the Leg Press.

http://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Abstract/1998/04000/Biomechanics_of_the_knee_during_closed_kinetic.14.aspx

Overall, the squat generated approximately twice as much hamstring activity as the leg press and knee extensions. Quadriceps muscle activity was greatest in CKCE when the knee was near full flexion and in OKCE when the knee was near full extension. OKCE produced more rectus femoris activity while CKCE produced more vasti muscle activity. Tibiofemoral compressive force was greatest in CKCE near full flexion and in OKCE near full extension. Peak tension in the posterior cruciate ligament was approximately twice as great in CKCE, and increased with knee flexion. Tension in the anterior cruciate ligament was present only in OKCE, and occurred near full extension. Patellofemoral compressive force was greatest in CKCE near full flexion and in the mid-range of the knee extending phase in OKCE.

Well I'm convinsed, I'm just going to do basic excercises from now on. No more machinery. I've actually started doing weighted pull ups as my main excercises after deadlifts and I've actually got my ectomorph ribs from the back hidden when I do a latspread  :P
Now I'll just do squats, longues and stiff legg deadlifts.... are extensions useless for quad developments?

so extensions are useless for leg development? Really I'm starting to think that all the extension moves do is give you an extremely good pump... but you develop your power from squats in actuality.

Yeep!

http://stronglifts.com/how-to-add-100-pounds-to-your-squat-smolov/

There is even an Excel Spreadsheet included and it will give you your entire schedule.  I have been doing it for a little over a month and have increased my squat and even have gone up in bodyweight and have gotten a lot leaner.  At this point I`m pulling a Frank Zane and gaining weight and losing body fat versus the typical cut and lose weight.

I think if anyone follows this and does not deviate at all, they will get a similar result.  One thing, DO NOT Overestimate your current 1RM squat or you will be sorry.  I was dead on with mine before I started so I had no issues, but most people tend to overestimate and this can have a funny consequence as the lifts won`t be able to be performed.

THE SQUAT

Down this road, in a gym far away,
a young man was heard to say,
"no matter what i do, my legs won't grow"
he tried leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses , too
trying to cheat, these sissy workouts he'd do.

from the corner of the gym where the big men train,
through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain
where the noise is made with big forty fives,
a deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees.
a very big man with legs like trees.

laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack
chalking his hands and monstrous back,
said, "boy, stop lying and don't say you've forgotten,
the trouble with you is you ain't been SQUATTIN'. "

come on you can't be serious

rules of weightlifting:

there are no magical routines or programs

my coach said so and he deadlifted 200kg with one hand, tore phone books and bent metal

You might want to re-evaluate your rules.

Halotestin Fell is on it, and also tne nppiona propioneta masterona injected and control form of estrogen Aromasin bill he did not use Arimidex Aromasin up physiqe impressive but terribly awful, should at least be considered as nangtrong,

thin, high, keep your muscles through a combination mentioned, and strong again, mainly due to tne halotestin and what anyoen strong, healthy bones may begin with the bones and tendoins ... halo guys and when tne more ... they become very, very impressive when it comes to power

looks like a lost soul and Fell fibers inbetween bodybuilder and Nikolov, both left and do not know what to do with yourself, this is another reason it's crazy, is not very good head

Lot of forward lean, but good depth and right up out of the hole.

I`d say it was a pretty damn good lift.

It was good lift alright. Sadly i lift like that also, pretty tall and low bar position with depth mean a lot of forward lean with me. (no where near 600 pound  :))

WILL YOU SACRIFICE TO WIN??? oh brother.

I did a 20-rep squat program a couple years ago, you squat M-W-F doing one set of 20, add five lbs every workout.  I gained a lot but blew a blood vessel or something in my head and had to stop, it gave me really bad headaches.

Squats are one of the best exercises going.  If you can't do them other exercises like the leg press, lunges and hacks are there.  I only have a problem with guys that are to lazy to squat.  They would rather bench and curl.

Yes, working your chest and arms is easy.  Working your back and legs is hard.  That is my theory anyway.

no wonder lay's quad development is very poor the way he squats

The interesting thing about this guy is that he did not even compete for 7 years in powerlifting, 2010 being his first meet in 7 years.  He just trained like this all throughout.  Insane leg strength.

I`ve been squatting around 4 times a week using Smolov Routine and I have increased my squat about 50 lbs in a month.  I still have another month to go.  I think Layne Norton also got similar results.

Yea ok 5'11 155lbs. Post some vids of your supernatural squat increase bro

I agree , the single best exercise there is , is the barbell squat it works more muscles than any other single exercise there is , you bring up a great point people just can't deal with squatting and avoid it all costs

Layne Norton is a Dr. in natural protein synthesis - his douchy glasses help to protect his academic eyes during bukkake seminars.

front squat form is easier because your torso can stay more vertical that way it's easier to maintain lower back tighness/arch

Useless exercise for a BB (unless u wanna build a fat ass and child bearing hips)
Awesome exercise if you are not geneticly predisposed to fat ass and child bearing hips - its all genetics.
