Hi guys I am over weight and need help losing fat. I weigh about 290lbs and my body fat is around 20 percent. I am over 6 feet tall. I know you guys are gonna make fun, However could really use some serious info. thank you so much happy new year.

I have never really over eaten I eat a english muffin and some fruit for breakfast with a tea, lunch is usually fruit and dinner is usually very sensible I really do not eat very much at all. I use to lift a lot when I was younger. Now I just want to get cut and lean.

I mean why are you even asking?! just low carbs, 150g for you a day. low/medium 1500kcal for you a day and 150g-200g of protein a day. Cardio one hour a day, 4 days a week. Swimming and or walking fast. When you drop to 230lbs you can start jogging in addition to swimming.
Basic = best , especially when you only want to get lean.

If you want to look good then training is the key, HARD TRAINING, but if you just want to lose weight and look a little bit better, then you can stick with "diet"

but overall, the very simplest way is cut carbs down to 100-150g a day, every day, no cheat days.
some 200grams protein and little fat.
and work out hard, dont do higher reps bc youre on diet, train as heavy as possible with good form.

And galeniko is right. If you are at 1500kcal diet and plan on building muscle it's not possible because you're muscles then are in catabolic state. In that state your body will take amino acids from your muscles and you become flat looking and washed out. But you just want to get leaner, so this is easy.

I was down from 310 to 272 and now I am 290. Added 15 lbs in the last 3 weeks. I suspect Ill be back to 2705 within 10 days.

But the pants are long because people have the same waist but differend length limbs, naturally they give the customer the chanse to wear the pants they want with a little tailoring to make them fit perfectly.

Seriously - 30 minutes of cardio a day on a threadmill. Start with 2.5 mph with zero uphill, then move to 2.7 with 1% uphill, and so on. Stop drinking any drink with calories in it, stick with diet soda, water. Dont eat any desserts, if you need something sweet, get a Yoplait Lite Yogurt with various flavors, aka Boston Creme Pie, etc. Eat more protein, and much less bread and pasta. Continue on this simple trek first, and you will lose 20 pounds quickly. Then if you can start this, then get more serious, start doing some pushups, various exercise and so on.
But, willpower is the hardest thing - too many excuses, work, family, lack of energy and so on.

And what works for me is to fig out first what foods affect me badly and what foods affect me in a good way thru trial and error
EG high fat, med protein(under 200g) near zero carbs works for me....its all personal exp ,,,like for example if i dont add salt to all my food the amount of water i drink daily flushes out stuff and makes me flat ,choose food you feel comfortable eating and dont eat anything else
I work on a mine site i walk in to the mess i order a scotch fillet steak get the exact same crib packed every night ,eg salami and cheesex2 roast beef salad and cheese with olive oil x2 quter chicken salad cheese and olive oilx2 then eat my steak with green beans then go to work and sit on net looking at getbig for twelve hours ,,,I have leaned out slowly
the thing that is most important is to try to take away the food reward bit of your thinking FOOD is fuel and when you do lose weight you will have everyone asking how you did it and that is when you will see the shitty anoying thinking of fat weak minded people making excuses ,like receiving a phone call asking whether they could eat a fucking mars bar NO NO you cant you fat retarded mouth breather

If you are 290 lbs at 20% bodyfat, then congratulations because your lean body mass is 232 lbs, and that makes you a lot bigger than the average man in terms of muscle. So you need to figure out a way to lose the fat and keep the muscle. Thank you for your advice. According to my scale I was up to 290lb I didnt feel quite that heavy so I picked up a new digital scale today. I am 275.8 I plan on doing 90 minutes a day of cardio. I have cut my calories to 1500 per day and I will stop drinking soda from now on

Serious advice, drink diet soda, makes the diets a lot easier, also I drink coffe sweetened with splenda in the mornings, really helps.

Also I don't think cheat days are a good idea, I gain back all the weight when I do this, it's ok if you want to mantain the same weight but you want to lose weight, so cheat days are a no-no.
Cheat meals, I'm not sure how many would be ok since you have a lot of weight to lose, maybe just 1 if any.
Cheat days dont matter...its what you do on the OTHER days....the thing is....one day of cheat should just be that...ONE DAY...my experience has been that people oin the OP's situation do not limit themselves to one day....also, the problem with people in the OP position...they dont quite grasp that they wont see drmatic weight loss week after week after week. Just anothe rcase of "I want it yesterday" when it comes to weight loss. You got to 290 by stuffing your face day after day....deal with the fact that it will take more than a month to get your ass back down

If you are 290 lbs at 20% bodyfat, then congratulations because your lean body mass is 232 lbs, and that makes you a lot bigger than the average man in terms of muscle. So you need to figure out a way to lose the fat and keep the muscle. Ill say it again. I really dont eat that much. I never have. I believe it was just lack on exercise. I have an office job and spend 12 hours most days sitting on my ass.

on topic, as for cheat days, keep the calorie amount considerably low on them, but for fastest fat loss, obviously dont do cheat days at all.

i dont think too much cardio would become counterproductive, i sometimes did a good 3 hrs a day and trained weights daily, but that wasnt natural.
so yeah, on gear its hardly going to be too much even if you double your cardio.
as for natural, well, i have no opinion on that, i never go into a diet naturally.
Im taking this all very seriously. Im not getting any younger and now that I actually have a clean diet this should be easier to lose and maintain
