Imo, you can't just take a close-up of a bowl of soup.  It has to be either an action shot, or a picture that conveys emotion.

no shame in him asking for the fight at 168.  ward will destroy him at that weight if they don't reach a catch weight close to 160.  it's not like manny or fmw (esp at 152) will fight him.  his camp has balls. best payday out there right now for him.

he s read tutorial that are all over the internet and in books on how to take good looking pictures, explained step by step. Has nothing to do with having a good eye. Throw in some quality camera and it's easy to do. Requires absolutely no skill whatsoever, sorry to be honnest.
Since when taking close up pics of random objects is art? the camera does make it sound great, not the photographer. Most of the pics you ve posted are so cliche and uninspired, nothing we ve alrdy seen like 10 billions times. Photography is the easiest "hobby" of them all.

lets be real.  he has speed similar to an 147 with legit 160 punching power like maranda so fighters 147-160 dont want to have anything to do with him.  then again, look what has happen to maranda fighting 168s.  they are eating him up.  i'd have him test a 168 outside the top 10 before ward...just to get an idea if he'll get clobbered like edison.

i'm aware of that but that one trick which could stop 160s cold can't slow down a solid 168.  i'd have him fight abraham before ward.  it's a $1M plus payday and he can out point him if need be.  but as i said, his corner got balls to take ward at 168 which i'm sure ward won't agree to come down.

He want's to play baseball as well. Been playing since he was 4. He's our JV catcher and part time Varsity catcher as a freshman. His first year in football was this year. Went 6/6 in receptions, 5 tackles and 2 sacks and 1td

He could have looked at his sons pictures and compliment him and stop there, just like any normal person would have done. No, he had to ask people on the internets what they think of the shots of his son. Cause suposedly he wanted "opinions", well if that was his real intent, he got opinions . But, i doubt that was his intent. My "opinion" is that is first intent was to find a reason to post a pic of himself, and my opinion as a random stranger posting on a public messageboard looking at these pictures is that there s nothing interesting about them.

Anyway, that's retarded whatever the way you look at it it s a bad attention whoring attempt.

They are quite good,  if he is serious, start a fund to save for a Hasselblad...some strobes, and a Lowell Kit.
If he really is serious he should consider Large Format and start experimenting with silver halide/film and make very large prints.  In public school I wrote a letter to Ansel Adams and asked him why he devoted so much time to very large prints...He wrote back that "very large prints (20x24 inches and larger) are very striking and exciting to view by the spectator...and more importantly...you can realistically ask for much more money for a photomural than a stack of 8x10 prints."

he s read tutorial that are all over the internet and in books on how to take good looking pictures, explained step by step.

Title: Re: My son took up photography and shot these
Post by: Primemuscle on January 02, 2012, 10:40:29 PM
He could have looked at his sons pictures and compliment him and stop there, just like any normal person would have done. No, he had to ask people on the internets what they think of the shots of his son. Cause suposedly he wanted "opinions", well if that was his real intent, he got opinions . But, i doubt that was his intent. My "opinion" is that is first intent was to find a reason to post a pic of himself, and my opinion as a random stranger posting on a public messageboard looking at these pictures is that there s nothing interesting about them.

Anyway, that's retarded whatever the way you look at it it s a bad attention whoring attempt.

At least Coach's son is doing something worthwhile. That's more than anyone can say about you.

But lets get to the real point as Uberman said, Coach is just an attention whore, Like when he runs on here talking about some people he knows who got killed or his celeb neighbors, all he cares about is bigging himself up since he is 3 feet tall.Nobody cares about your life, Coach.

agreed.  two of my friends are "photographers," and one is making a career out of it.  they're both rich.  buy the best equipment, spend a couple of hours reading up on how to use it, and then use your high-society connections to the fullest... pretty soon you'll have made a name for yourself amongst clueless socialites willing to shell out 10 grand for a wedding, all because you're a friend of a friend of a friend who is willing to vouch you're "really good!"

also you can talk about "isos," "f-stops," and "the new lens i just bought" every fucking chance you get because this information is REALLY REALLY interesting and important and, well, your poor friends are going to be so impressed by your incredible mastery of this high-tech gadgetry, right?  ::)

What kind of camera Coach?  He seems to be trying out all different techniques.  Action shots can be tough.  Sometimes ya gotta take dozens of shots to get the perfect one.

Years ago I had an Olympus manual SLR and took some great pictures.  I loved playing around with the different settings and lenses.  Ever since going smaller, automatic & digital, I can't seem to take a decent picture to save my life  :-\

Good shots Coach, but I find it odd when people photograph their food.

A friend of mine is a professional photographer. He's photographed food for ads in the past. He told me that I'd be amazed at what they do to food to make it look appetizing. Apparently it is painted and/or oiled up among other things. Obviously, one doesn't eat this food.

I'd say for someone just starting out those pictures are great. I've seen way worse.

I like that you seem to be encouraging him! Photography is a great gate-way in to art in general.

Only advice that I could give him/you is to not get obsessed with the camera gear itself... it's a very slippery slope. Before you know it, he'll try to justify getting a 2,5k dollar lens because of its "superior optics", "weatherproofing", "superior autofocus" and then next month the most expensive flash etc etc when really all that matters is what he does with the camera, not the camera itself.

I know this, because I've been there myself. Got caught up buying all kinds of fancy shit that really in the end didn't matter that much. With today's technology he can get really, really far without having to invest in super expensive shit.

Really the only ones that have a legit practicable reason to invest in the top-notch stuff are the professionals who have to abuse the living hell out of their systems every single day to make a living.

A friend of mine is a professional photographer. He's photographed food for ads in the past. He told me that I'd be amazed at what they do to food to make it look appetizing. Apparently it is painted and/or oiled up among other things. Obviously, one doesn't eat this food.

One does throat fuck penile tissue, though?

I'd say for someone just starting out those pictures are great. I've seen way worse.

I like that you seem to be encouraging him! Photography is a great gate-way in to art in general.

Only advice that I could give him/you is to not get obsessed with the camera gear itself... it's a very slippery slope. Before you know it, he'll try to justify getting a 2,5k dollar lens because of its "superior optics", "weatherproofing", "superior autofocus" and then next month the most expensive flash etc etc when really all that matters is what he does with the camera, not the camera itself.

When you go camera shopping...get one that takes the old fashioned pentax/nikon lenses...LA is the center for the used photo equipment  markets...The picture with the bird needs  to be framed differently, and the focus should ignore the sand and focus on the bird...in otherwords he needs to learn to focus by hand with old fashioned lenses...

Why, because he's a gimmick and posts behind a keyboard from 10,000miles away like you or is it another gimmick posting on here from "getbig2"?

Sounds like your anus is still a little tender from all the times I've owned you.

yeah, i saw on the discovery channel that they do tricks like spray paint clear on fruits, and/or drip them in oil. Or not cook the meat and spilt it so in "looks" like a beefier burger. :-\

Just echoing this advice.  I've taken some great shots out of a Nikon 150$ point and shoot.  Photography isn't about the gear you own, latest camera body or lenses etc, it's about lighting, composition, evoking thought and emotion by capturing the one moment in time.

For someone just starting out they are decent pictures.  Lighting and composition are probably the two most important aspects of photography so tell him to always take note of framing his shots and capturing light correctly.

Tell him to check out this site:  http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech.htm  Ken is a longtime photographer and has a ton of useful information for people starting out and even for those who have been shooting for a long time.

Don't shoot the messenger! Ask your son what inspired him to photograph his daddy.
