no, i dont see it as a conspiracy. Dude was heavy body weight, had a very high stress job.
IF it was some college kid with a cell phone who caught video of something - said it was coming - then he died, i'd be curious.
But in this case, it was a guy who ran one of the biggest media companies in the world, threatening to bring down the most powerful man in the world. That video would be copied, backed up, and ready on a million levels for publication. Sure, he probably wanted to run it in october.
But unless we see some evidence, I can't buy into that CT. He had a million avenues to put out this video, and the company still does.
and I'm 190 these days :)

DEAR READER: In the first decade of the DRUDGEREPORT Andrew Breitbart was a constant source of energy, passion and commitment. We shared a love of headlines, a love of the news, an excitement about what's happening. I don't think there was a single day during that time when we did not flash each other or laugh with each other, or challenge each other. I still see him in my mind's eye in Venice Beach, the sunny day I met him. He was in his mid 20's. It was all there. He had a wonderful, loving family and we all feel great sadness for them today... Andrew Breitbart
.by Sarah Palin on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7:06am ·.
We are all stunned and saddened by the news of Andrew Breitbart’s passing. Andrew was a warrior who stood on the side of what was right. He defended what was right. He defended the defenseless.
It is so sad to consider his four young children who have lost their dad. All our prayers are with his family now. May God comfort his wife and children.
Many of us will have life-long memories of our work or encounters with Andrew. May we draw on those to help forward the cause of fighting for what is right. For me, just one of those memories was in Pella, Iowa, last year after the premier of “The Undefeated.” Andrew held court in the restaurant at the local hotel talking about his favorite topic: how “culture is upstream of politics” and how conservatives must be unafraid to fight the leftwing media, cultural, and political establishments. The loss of his voice in this fight will be deeply felt, but thankfully his work lives on at his “Bigs,” and thank God for his inspiration and leadership.
God bless you, Andrew. Rest in peace, friend. We will continue the fight.

Andrew Breitbart's death to be reviewed by L.A. County coroner
LA Times ^ | March 1, 2012 | Staff Report
The Los Angeles County coroner's office will review the death of conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart, who collapsed and died Thursday while taking a nighttime walk near his Westwood home.
Given his young age -- he was 43 -- and the unexpected manner in which he died, authorities will conduct an autopsy to help determine a specific cause of death.
Breitbart's father-in-law, actor Orson Bean, said in an interview with The Times that Breitbart was found collapsed near his home about 12:30 a.m. Paramedics took him to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, but doctors were unable to revive him.
"We're devastated. I loved him like a son," Bean said. "It looks like a heart attack, but no one knows until" an autopsy is done.

CIA secret weapon of assassination Heart Attack Gun, Declassified 1975 New World Order Report
Youtube ^ | 3/1/12 | Examiner.com
Posted on Thursday, March 01, 2012 1:37:09 PM by Nachum
A CIA secret weapon used for assassination shoots a small poison dart to cause a heart attack, as explained in Congressional testimony in the short video below. By educating ourselves and others on vitally important matters like this, we can build a brighter future for us all.
The dart from this secret CIA weapon can penetrate clothing and leave nothing but a tiny red dot on the skin. On penetration of the deadly dart, the individual targeted for assassination may feel as if bitten by a mosquito, or they may not feel anything at all. The poisonous dart completely disintegrates upon entering the target.
The lethal poison then rapidly enters the bloodstream causing a heart attack. Once the damage is done, the poison denatures quickly, so that an autopsy is very unlikely to detect that the heart attack resulted from anything other than natural causes. Sounds like the perfect James Bond weapon, doesn't it? Yet this is all verifiable in Congressional testimony.
The astonishing information about this secret weapon of the CIA comes from U.S. Senate testimony in 1975 on rogue activities of the CIA. This weapon is only one of many James Bond-like discoveries of the Church Committee hearings, officially known as the United States Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities.
Could this or a similar secret weapon have been used, for instance, in the recent death of 52-year-old Mark Pittman, a reporter who predicted the financial crisis and exposed Federal Reserve misdoings? Pittman, whose fight to open the Federal Reserve to more scrutiny led Bloomberg News to sue the central bank and win, died of a heart attack on Nov. 25th.

I saw him on TYT just a few days ago... I don't doubt someone wanted to kill him, but more than likely, he was always so uptight it was probably a heart attack due to blood pressure and stress.

Breitbart Was The Tip Of The Spear
The Looking Spoon ^ | 3-1-12 | The Looking Spoon
The first time I saw Andrew Breitbart was 2004, I was in my last semester of college, and he was speaking at the California College Republican convention at UCLA. Back then he was really only known as someone who worked with Drudge. Even then we were all very impressed with him.
I had a chance to actually meet him at CPAC only a couple weeks ago...he was literally a couple of feet from me at the Marriott bar. I didn't take it because I was chatting with another blogger already, and he was being mobbed anyway, so I passed...thinking there will be other opportunities.
Let that be a lesson, when you get a chance to meet a hero, take it. He has a fearlessness of confrontation I wish I could have, and hope to have before I die.
My thoughts and prayers join others to be with the Breitbart family.

How Andrew Breitbart Helped Launch Huffington Post
Feed founder Jonah Peretti, a HuffPo cofounder, recalls their brief partnership on the record for the first time. “At war with himself,” but at least it paid for the remodeling of his kitchen. posted Mar 1, 2012 3:31pm EST

(Reuters / BRENDAN MCDERMID)
Andrew Breitbart, the hyperactive, charming, and divisive creator of Big Government and its sister sites who died today at 43, also served as the link between two of the dominant media forces of the last decade: The Drudge Report, which he helped run for years, and Huffington Post, where he was present — briefly — at the creation.
Breitbart’s role as Drudge’s right hand is well known; less public was his brief, memorable stint as one of four partners in the Huffington Post in 2005. It’s a story that hasn’t been told in great detail, but BuzzFeed founder Jonah Peretti, who also co-founded the Huffington Post with with the site’s namesake Arianna Huffington and media business figure Ken Lerer, recalled that period in an interview today.
Breitbart’s role later became contested — he brashly claimed total credit for “the plan,” which his former partners denied — but he was an unmissable presence in the Soho office that was for a time Huffington Post’s New York headquarters. There, for a month in the spring of 2005, he worked closely with Lerer (who is now Chairman of BuzzFeed), and Peretti, a graduate of MIT’s media lab, to launch the site.
“He taught us a lot of things early on,” Peretti said, recalling how Breitbart showed them key features of the media ecosystem. “He explained about looking at the British newspapers late at night because they would sometimes break news before the U.S. papers. He cared about getting links up seconds or minutes faster than other publications and was obsessive about that.”
Breitbart was also a font of ideas, not all of which made it into practice.
“He wanted every commenter to have to pay $1 to comment, and the dollar would go to charity but the user’s true identity would be authenticated through a credit card,” Peretti recalled, noting that the idea prefigures current attempts to authenticate identity online.
He also proposed “a phone number where celebrities could call in and leave voice blogs that would automatically appear on the site ,” Peretti recalled. “He wanted that built before launch, and launch was four days away.”
His creativity, as many who worked with him know, could be hard to contain.
“He was just incredibly difficult to have in the office – he was totally ADD and would jump from idea to idea. He would spend hours playing fantasy baseball during the day. He was incredibly good at fantasy baseball,” Peretti said, but then started talking to another Huffington Post employee about starting a fantasy baseball company amid the Huffington Post launch.
There were also also ideological tensions from the start.
“He was at war with himself,” said Peretti. “He wanted to be sure Drudge respected what he did and that he could also make this new venture.”
“He was pretty loyal to Drudge, and protective of Drudge – he was completely obsessed in the early days of Huffington Post with trying to make Drudge love him while still doing Huffington Post,” Peretti said.
There were also big differences about the ideological slant of Huffington Post, which was kept deliberately vague, but which was launched in implicit opposition to President George W. Bush and aligned with the progressive movement. But Breitbart and Huffington had a personal relationship dating back to her time as a conservative — he had been her intern — and they hoped that his relatively liberal views on some social issues would provide common ground.
“He was terrified of the idea that Huffington Post was a competitor to Drudge. He thought that Huffington Post could be bipartisan and that Drudge would love the idea of these big boldface names blogging because he understands the value of that,” he said.
Breitbart had also hoped, Peretti said, to pull Drudge in a more entrepreneurial direction, and to persuade him to monetize some of his outgoing links by starting a kind of "Drudgewire," a site that housed wire stories that Drudge linked. Drudge, whose success is in part the product of resisting expansion and change to his core product, refused.
As Huffington Post’s other partners pulled the site in a more determinedly liberal direction, and as their relationships soured, Breitbart soon moved on. He returned to Drudge and created Breitbart.com, a version of the wire service idea.
And Breitbart, divisive as he was in public, was personally warm, open, and likable.
Drudge turned his page into a tribute Thursday to Breitbart’s “energy, passion and commitment.”
“My thoughts and prayers go out to Andrew Breitbart's family and friends, especially his wife Susie and their 4 beautiful children,” Huffington tweeted.
Peretti also parted on good terms with Breitbart, whom the three remaining partners bought out of Huffington Post soon after their working relationship collapsed, and before the site had gained any real traction
A year later, Peretti visited Breitbart home in Los Angeles, and Breitbart showed off his remodeled kitchen.
“Look what I did with my HuffPost money!” he said.

Breitbart‘s Tapes of Obama’s College Years to Be Released in a week
conservativebyte.com ^ | 3/2/2012 | Conservative Byte
Posted on March 2, 2012 12:43:37 PM EST by Signalman
“I have videos, this election we’re going to vet him,” new media mogul Andrew Breitbart proclaimed at this year’s CPAC event.
Breitbart was, of course, referring to clips that allegedly show President Barack Obama during his college days — videos that the media leader claimed would show “why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008.”
These tapes, which have inspired conspiracy theories surrounding what led to Breitbart’s death on Thursday of natural causes at the age of 43, are now purportedly going to be released (Glenn Beck has strongly cautioned viewers against jumping to conclusions connecting the tapes to Breitbart’s death).
On Thursday evening, Steve Bannon, a writer and documentary filmmaker (“The Undefeated”), told FOX News‘ Sean Hannity that Breitbart’s company will release the mysterious Obama Harvard tapes within seven to 10 days.

Andrew Breitbart Was Planning Huge New Web Project on Eve of Sudden Death (Bigs redone this Sunday)

Well, Hannity didn't reveal much about Breitbart's big posthumous project last night that we didn't already know (the constant cross-promotion continues, even in death!), but his guest, Steve Bannon, a documentary filmmaker and close friend of Breitbart's, did drop some hints on what's to come.
"We spent the last two years working a website that on Sunday night..." Bannon said before he was cut off by Hannity. He later added that Breitbart had "left the office at 10 p.m." on Wednesday. He had been pouring all his energy into the project, his "obsession," up until the moment he died.

A man dying in the prime of his life, even as he was ascending to the summit of his vocation, is something that rarely occurs in this country. Even my paternal grandfather, and his son, i.e. my own father, whose lives were tragically cut short by bad genes-as well some unwise personal decisions-lived long enough to see their children graduate from college, and in some cases, bear children. That was not the case, unfortunately, with respect to Andrew Breitbart, someone who was kind enough to inscribe my copy of Righteous Indignation-his stirring memoir cum polemical call to arms-and provide me with some useful advice on the art of political warfare during our sole meeting, which was chronicled on this website last year.
In addition to the remarkable photojournalist Tim Hetherington, he was the second person in his early forties I’ve met in the past year whose life has ended abruptly. And while it would be callous to say you ‘expect’ anyone that vibrant to die at such a premature age, I would be lying if I told you that the tragic killing of a photographer who routinely worked in war zones such as Iraq and Libya stunned me. Andrew’s passing, on the other hand, was inexplicable when juxtaposed against the frenetic, dynamic-albeit slightly jet-lagged-individual I met last April.
Like Tim Hetherington, however, Andrew Breitbart was a remarkable individual who left a mark upon our culture that’s impossible to quantify at this close remove. While most media obituaries have focused upon the instrumental role he played in exposing-figuratively speaking-disgraced ex-congressman Anthony Weiner, illustrated by this Radar headline, Andrew’s accomplishments in his brief time on earth eclipse the downfall of any one venal, supercilious politician. Yet the Weiner scandal, and Andrew’s ultimate vindication, epitomize the essence Breitbart’s mission.
What began with a seemingly prurient allegation against an arrogant Democratic member of Congress beloved by the D.C. and New York press corps rapidly turned into a media witch hunt against a conservative icon who embodied everything that the drive-by media viewed with disdain. His impromptu press conference is a tour de force defense against media and government libel and manipulation, which will long outlive the petulant screeds penned by his most small-minded, ideologically hidebound critics.
So too will his struggle to defang the left’s most potent, and regrettably, effective, weapon against conservative ideas. Namely, racial stigmatization. Uncovering the Pigford scandal-an extensive scheme to defraud American taxpayers couched in terms of racial reparations and social justice-is probably the most impressive feat of Breitbart’s meteoric career as a muckraking journalist-activist, although you’ll struggle to find mention of this achievement in any obituary published by mainstream media organs. Instead, you’ll read a steady stream of misrepresentations about what is one of the most frivolous class action lawsuits-and pusillanimous abdications by Congress-in recent memory. Luckily, Andrew was his most capable defender on this score.
As heartbreaking as the loss of Andrew Breitbart is-not least to his widow and their four children-we must not forget that his ideas and spirit will persist. James O’Keefe, the young man who singlehandedly dealt a body blow to the institutional left’s keystone organization, continues to crusade for accountability among taxpayer-bankrolled political arms of the Democratic Party. As does Lila Rose, who has done to Planned Parenthood what her colleague did to ACORN, i.e. expose the underlying corruption of an organization shielded by its benefactors in Congress and allies in the media.
Both owe a debt of gratitude to Breitbart, as do all Americans whose eyes were opened by investigations credentialed journalists were unwilling to initiate due to timidity and ideological affinity for Breitbart’s targets. The complaisant relationship the press had with organizations and individuals it was ostensibly charged with covering was a recurring theme of his Andrew’s work, and highlighting the vast gulf between how the fourth estate views itself and what it actually does will ultimately be one of his most enduring legacies. The grassroots, investigative journalism that Breitbart encouraged is thriving-just look at who uncovered this administration’s coverup of Fast and Furious-even as media dinosaurs totter and topple.
That is the real bequest of Andrew Breitbart. He inspired-or should inspire-people to get off their asses and take charge of their country. To shake off the listless torpor our nation’s rulers and gatekeepers have conditioned us into complacently accepting and to effect real, lasting change in our communities. Not the sort driven by Harvard Law School or the Columbia School of Journalism, but change designed to expand the sphere of individual choice and autonomous decision-making. To reject the pretensions of power by those with no moral authority and to expand the freedom to do what you want to, regardless of how bien pensant it might seem at the National Press Club or in Hollywood production meetings.
That’s why the best way you could honor the memory of Andrew Breitbart is to emulate him. Go out there and do what Breitbart has done. A great way to start is by buying Righteous Indignation, which in addition to being a very entertaining autobiography is a wonderful how-to manual for grassroots political activists and citizen-journalists. Go and see Hating Breitbart when it’s released later this year, and discover what made this man tick. You’ll probably discover that it’s the same things which drive you, i.e. family, loved ones, and an abiding love for this country. Even if our passions take a different form, or our temperament is slightly more even-keeled, we all have some animating force that drives us. The job in this life is to cultivate and exploit that passion while we’re here, and whatever his shortcomings that is something that Andrew Breitbart always did, and it’s an example we should all try to follow in the short time we’ve been allotted.

Breitbart A Provocateur to the End
Townhall.com ^ | March 3, 2012 | Jonah Goldberg
Posted on March 3, 2012 7:20:53 AM EST by Kaslin
Andrew Breitbart's heart was too big to fail, but it did anyway.
If you don't know who Breitbart was, you haven't been paying attention. A conservative activist, entrepreneur, author, muckraker, media pioneer and performance artist of sorts, in his heart he was a radical.
His friends saw him as a fearless truth-teller and provocateur. (The word "fearless" will have to be retired from overuse when all of his obituaries have been written.) His enemies, and they are legion even in death, saw him as the most vile creature who ever slithered upon the earth.
Within hours of the news, Twitter lit up with repugnant and ghoulish statements from left-wingers celebrating the premature death of a man with four small children. I won't repeat them because the ones printable in a family newspaper aren't representative, and the ones that are representative aren't printable.
Andrew relished such attacks, truly, because they proved to him that he was having great effect in his work and that his opponents had run out of serious arguments.
This is not to say that Andrew was beyond criticism. He made mistakes. He took full swings at some pitches he should have just let go. He overstated some things that needed to be said, and said some things that didn't need to be said at all. He was a human run-on sentence who showed deference to no punctuation mark save the exclamation point, a conservative Tasmanian Devil from the Bugs Bunny cartoons we both grew up on, whirling and whizzing through anything in his path. Giving him a dose of Ritalin to treat his hyperactivity would be like throwing a glass of water on a five-alarm fire.
But the hatred his enemies had for him overshot his faults like a dart thrown past the board and over the moon.
Others will talk of his accomplishments: working for the Drudge Report in its infancy, creating websites and businesses, pioneering new forms of media and exploiting the inherent weaknesses and pieties of the old media. And many who knew him will talk of his personal kindness: how the only times he slowed down were when he needed to lend an ear, do a favor or talk about how much he loved his family.
Those things matter more than the politics, but they are not what made him a public figure. If being kind and loving your family made you famous, countless plumbers, carpenters and accountants would be famous too.
No, what made him a public figure is what drove him to leap into battle day after day. Andrew had profound contempt for those on the left who claimed a birthright to a monopoly on virtue and tolerance.
He rejected in the marrow of his bones the idea that conservatives needed to apologize for being conservative or that liberals had any special authority to pronounce on the political decency and honesty of others.
Indeed, when liberals called him (or his heroes) racist, Andrew paid them the compliment of taking them seriously. He truly felt that to call someone a racist was as profound an insult as could be leveled. To do so without evidence or logic was a sin.
He believed, rightly, that much of establishment liberalism hurls such charges as a way to bully opponents into silence, and he would not be bullied. That was why, for instance, he offered a reward of $100,000 (payable to the United Negro College Fund) to anybody who could prove tea partiers hurled racial epithets over and over at black congressmen walking past them to vote on ObamaCare, as several alleged. No one got paid because the charge -- recycled over and over by the media -- was a lie.
The Internet was a boon to Andrew because it exposed liberalism's undeserved monopoly on the "narrative" -- one of his favorite words.
"60 Minutes" won awards for hidden cameras, but when he used the same technique to embarrass liberals, such tactics were suddenly proclaimed ethically beyond the pale. The joke was on the scolds because they had to cover the stories anyway. And the stories got results. Congress defunded ACORN. Heads rolled at NPR. Andrew understood that news and arguments change politics if you can get the news and arguments to the people -- and if you don't let those who don't like what you say define you.
Whatever his faults, that was my friend's great and remarkable strength: He never let the bastards get him down. That took away his enemies' greatest power, and they hated him all the more for it.
-
"The Left does not win its battles in debate. It doesn't have to. In the twenty-first century, media is everything. The Left wins because it controls the narrative. The narrative is controlled by the media. The Left is the media. Narrative is everything. I call it the Democrat-Media Complex -- and I am at war to gain back control of the American narrative."
BINGO.
RIP AB - the fight against the communist left will go on.

Heilemann Trashes Breitbart On "Real Time" Panel Discussion Of His Death
During the "Overtime" portion of Friday night's "Real Time" on HBO, the panel discussed the passing of Andrew Breitbart.
Nearly the whole panel seemed to agree this was a sad event and was not a time for trash talking except for liberal columnist John Heilemann. Heilemann came out swinging and attempts were made to stop him from going further, but it did not help.
Also on the panel: James Carville, Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Bob Lutz
"This phrase, that people often say that we should not speak ill of the dead, right? I mean, when is a better time to speak ill of someone than when they're dead?" John Heilemann said.
Earlier in the broadcast, Heilemann said the Republican party is becoming a "whiter" and "less well-educated" party.
Before he could say more, panelist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist, jumped in so Heilemann couldn't make more of a fool of himself than he already had.
"It's cowardice because if they were alive they would jump up and kick your ass. So you wait until they're dead and you say what you want to say?" Dr. DeGrasse Tyson said.
Alas, though, that wasn't enough to stop Heilemann.
"People spoke ill of Andrew Breitbart when he was alive, for one thing. And for another thing, you know when people die people assess their work and their lives and come up with some conclusions. Andrew Breitbart, certainly had never been restrained when it came to offering posthumous harsh judgement," an arrogant John Heilemann said.
"But don't we do it because of the family?" a sincere Bill Maher asked Heilemann. "Isn't that why you don't do it? Because the family has enough to deal with somebody does, so you don't pile on."
"The guy died at 43 with 4 kids, that's different than dying at 86. You know what I mean? It's a little different. I know Matt [Taibbi], like John, he's been our guest. There is nothing he would have said before, then he probably would [not have] said to his face. He's not a two-faced guy at all. He'll stab you right in the stomach," James Carville said.

Ann Coulter responds to FOX News host Sean Hannity's question about phony outrage from liberals: "I must say it's like Andrew Breitbart's last trick because he loved ginning up liberals. I mean, he played this jiu jitsu with them, as do I. He got them to say the most, the most shocking things and that's why most people, like me, follow him on Twitter had to turn off the Retweet function because you'd open up your Twitter page and it would be full with things that rhymed with 'mockbucker.' I And I don't need that vial coming at me on my web page, but he loved it. And here, even in death he shows liberals in their true colors."

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, Andrew
by Robert Davi
In 2004, when it was brought to San Diego, there was a dedication for the USS Ronald Reagan — how appropriate that on the deck of that magnificent carrier is where Andrew and I first met and became fast friends. He came up to me and was thrilled that I was there — thrilled and grateful that I was an outspoken conservative in Hollywood — and understood the difficulty I faced. As he said to many, he appreciated the courage it took to go against the tide of the liberal establishment. I will always remember it was the first time I felt someone, beside David Horowitz, understood the cost it took to express one’s values openly for fear of a modern day blacklisting. Yes, it does exist in this town.
We became close friends, and I would spend many nights or afternoons together with Andrew discussing his ideas and the BIGS he wanted to launch. He wanted a place where those of us who may be attacked by the left for our differing points of view would now have an umbrella of protection — a place to express, a place to inform, a place where a network of people would cover our backs. He said to me many times, ” I’ve got your back!” When we were on panels together, he would always acknowledge the sacrifice in career I made and, with “Righteous Indignation,” said how heroic a deed it is for any of us in Hollywood who have a different point of view.
One afternoon at my house during the Super Bowl, when our kids were playing together and in between mouthfuls of eggplant parmigian, Andrew spoke in depth about the BIGS. He spoke like a force of nature, his ideas and passion lifting him off the couch — he reminded me of the great man of theater, Harold Clurman, who would spasm and seem to ignite the air around him with the force of his intellect and passion. The only difference was with Andrew, the theater was the world stage and the survival of democracy and America, its Dream and unending mission. You saw that he sensed was on the front lines — the minuteman of the 21st century.
Yes, dear friends, Andrew was a force of nature — a Navy SEAL in journalism who would dive deep into periled waters to uncover the truth and remove the minefields of lies and misinformation. He was tireless, unflinching — always feeling a bit guilty he wasn’t giving Susie and the kids enough time but giving all he could when he could. He was always a giver; he gave his heart — and gladly. He loved what he was doing and gave his life doing it.
To be honest, I will sleep a little less easy from here on knowing my friend is no longer minesweeping for us, not being able to meet with him in NY, DC, LA, or wherever; to have a glass of red and enjoy his humor, intellect, passion, and his uninhibited, wonderful laughter at the absurd in politics; his excitement when a new celebrity was found to be a conservative; his need to make sure we connected and help each other.
My dear wonderful, eccentric, brilliant ,unique, patriotic friend, I will miss you but never forget you. My prayers go out to Susie and the children, who experience the biggest loss. Perhaps someday one of his children will read this. Know that he loved you so much, that he gave his life fighting for the Country he loved and wanted you to grow up in. Your father did not “go gentle into that good night;” he raged — RAGED — against the dying of the light! How fitting, then, that we met on the deck of USS Ronald Reagan.
Again, farewell, Andrew, and God bless you all.

“No more. We’re going to go after you. I bought a dog whistle… I bought a dog whistle factory, and I’m giving you dog whistles. And, we’re going to listen to every word that comes out of your mouth, and we’re going to hold you to the same standard that you hold us, which is an impossible one, and you’re going to have a hell of a time in 2012 because America’s finally woken to your Saul Alinsky bullsh*t tactics, and we’re coming to get you.” – Andrew Breitbart CPAC 2012

Andrew Breitbart: A Warrior, A Fighter, A Friend
Posted By Ron Futrell On March 4, 2012 @ 2:00 pm In Mainstream Media, Other, Politics, Tea Parties, citizen journalism, journalism, media bias | 11 Comments
Andrew trusted me to tell the truth about the media when he first started this web site, Big Journalism. I owe him much more than this small tribute. When Andrew first started this site and asked me to be a contributor I had no hesitation. [1] He wanted a media guy who could tell the “inside stories” on the business, and I have been proud to do that. Thanks to the First Amendment the media is supposed to police itself. They have stopped doing that, if they ever have, and Andrew spotted that early on. I knew this problem with the media years ago, but had no outlet. This became my outlet.
[2]
I was with Andrew in Chicago September 2010 at a conservative convention when he simply, boldly approached a group of liberal protesters [3]. You’d think Satan himself had confronted them. Satan might have had a warmer reception. Andrew was yelled at, screamed at, and homophobic slurs were hurled at him from the “progressives” in the crowd. We spoke afterwards before he addressed the convention, and he still seemed surprised that this group would do this while he had a full TV crew with him. We were two west coast guys sweating from the Chicago humidity that day, and we spoke of the fearlessness that it would take to expose the left with a media unwilling to do so. With my small, hand held camera, we spoke of Liberty. [4] His answer to my simple question, “What does Liberty mean to you?” has new meaning today.
We were together in Searchlight, Nevada for a rally in Harry Reid’s hometown when eggs were thrown at a tea party bus [5], and Andrew was on top of that story as well–exposing those on the left for their anger towards political opponents. He pointed out brilliantly how the media template on the tea party was 180 degrees from reality. We had seen it together and we knew what we saw. The fact that Big Journalism later exposed that it was a Democrat operative who threw the eggs was no shock to either of us.
I recall a 7:00am phone call on a Sunday morning from Andrew while he was at LAX waiting for a flight to Washington DC. This was smack-dab in the middle of the Anthony Weiner scandal. Weiner was still denying the photos were his and Andrew was being called a “liar.” His credibility was openly challenged. Andrew told me he had proof the photos were Weiner’s and he was headed back east to expose the truth [6], and we discussed the story. Every time I have talked to Andrew there was excitement and energy in his voice, and this day was no different, but I was a bit surprised that he had that energy at 7:00 on a Sunday morning. He went non-stop.
Because the media refuses to do its job, there was a need for Andrew Breitbart. The template of the media will not be changing any time soon, so for the foreseeable future there will be a need for “Andrew Breitbart.” Yes, he was first a great family man and a loving husband and father–we talked often about our kids. We both have three boys and a daughter, and you could tell they were the spark that motivated him. That was the personal side that meant so much to him, but the world will know him as the guy who dared put his thumb on the media and press hard. Actually, he used much more than his thumb; he used everything he had.
What scared the left the most about Breitbart was that he “storm trooped” his way straight into what previously had been their protected turf–Hollywood, government, the media, pop culture, comedy, music. We talked often about how he felt conservatives needed to take their message [7] to all sectors of society and do it without fear. He was right, and his timing was perfect. Like a Southern California surfer, you can have all the preparation, but if you don’t catch the right wave you won’t enjoy the ride. When it was all said and done, Andrew didn’t ride the wave; he created the wave.
In Common Sense, Thomas Paine wrote, “the time has found us.” [8] Paine knew that forces much greater than man were at work in the American Revolution. You got that sense with Andrew. The time had found him. The Internet, the politics, and the person had aligned at the right time to make great things happen. Of course, like with Paine, it still requires brave men and women step forward to preserve Liberty for all. Paine and Breitbart were not just passengers on a ship; they were guiding that ship, they were fueling that ship, and they were headed in the right direction.
I will always miss a dear friend and a fearless fighter, but I will move forward with a renewed passion towards truth.

Andrew Breitbart - Media Warrior
MAR
1
2012
Andrew Breitbart told me this past weekend, "People are going to say whatever and try to claim whatever to try and take us out. They have an irrational fear of us. They want us on a leash. We're not going to be on a leash. They want us to dance. We're not going to dance with them." The truthfulness and prescience of this statement was confirmed every time Andrew appeared on mainstream media programming. Time and time again he was attacked in every way and from every angle imaginable, and time and time again he refused to be leashed and refused to dance to their tune. In our country today, to inform your fellow citizens and advocate on behalf of the positions your conscience dictates is not always an easy thing; it can be a battle. And battles need warriors.
Andrew Breitbart was a media warrior who, better than anyone, understood the challenges facing those of us who expose facts and advocate for positions which run contrary to the narrative advanced by big government and big journalism. I woke up this morning saddened by the loss and lonely without his presence; he had long been a source of comfort and advice for me because he knew better than anyone the challenges faced by citizen journalists. Better than anyone he understood the effort and energy required to fight. Not just the big fights, but also the small fights. Every article, every email, every tweet was a battle to get the truth out despite the forces that were working against him. Every day was a new struggle against the forces of conformity and compliance.
Andrew was a colorful and magnetic personality, as humorous as he was passionate. On the day we first met in August 2009, his beautiful and precocious children had apparently painted his toenails. It was during that first meeting that I showed him video footage of an investigation into ACORN. He told me the establishment would call the actions of the employees in the first tape, "an isolated incident." "We're going to embarrass the media if they try to cover this up,” he told me. Perhaps that's why they want us on a leash.
While Andrew and I were very different people in many respects, there was a certain commonality in how we thought about and approached things. When engaged, there was a special creative process between the two of us. We both appreciated the theater of the absurd. "What if?” he posited mischievously. "Why not?" I would respond, adding fuel to the fire. At one event we we speaking to a friendly audience about a future video concept in which I planned to take a government subsidy to an outlandish extreme. Nobody in the audience had any idea what we were talking about. Andrew and I essentially gave up trying to convince them and instead started scheming with each other right there in front of the crowd, escalating towards the eventual media response. (I'm filming undercover right now for that idea). I wish I had a video of that moment with Andrew, though.
Andrew could at one moment be so light-hearted and in the next be a raging pitbull, filled with passion, a man with a world to take on and no time to waste. Recently, we wanted to call a reporter out, and were writing the email to the reporter on the phone with each other. When the reporter challenged the validity of the allegations we were making, I was anxious to reveal the tape proving it was true. Borrowing a page from the media’s playbook, though, Andrew told me simply to tell him that I had a “reliable source.” Many people might find such an attribution insufficient, but how could a reporter? We were both somewhat inspired by Saul Alinsky -- attempting to highlight hypocrisy by making 'em live up to their own book of rules.
I've had a reoccurring thought of late - particularly as I'm engaged in lawsuits, depositions, subpoenas, and of course the battles with the media. I had this thought again after I got off the phone with Andrew last night after another conversation about speaking truth to power. There is nothing in this life as sweet as justice and nothing as motivating as injustice. A lot of people in the media and in the wider world waste their time pursuing power, money and glory. I’ve always found more interesting and important the pursuit of justice, the fight to expose facts and inform people, which can be quite a battle in an of itself. There is noble purpose in fighting. Andrew Breitbart took up arms in that fight with a zeal, an energy, and an optimism which was and always will be an inspiration to me. He fought with everything he had to expose media injustice.
I've gotten messages from people this morning asking, "What are you going to do now?" Certainly, it would have taken an army to stop him and just as certainly it is going to take an army to replace him. But in my head I can hear the response come from Andrew: “What are *you* going to do about it now?” What we need are just a few good citizens with both courage and willpower. The courage to act with conscience and conviction, consequences and misconceptions be damned.
God bless you, Andrew Breitbart; thank you for all you’ve taught me and all that you’ve given to us all.
Yours for Truth,
James O'Keefe

Breitbart: An Unstoppable Force For Freedom
Capitol Confidential ^ | 3/5/2012 | Manny Lopez
Andrew Breitbart was relentless.
It was a trait that those of us who are committed to good government, freedom and liberty admired, and one that many on the left despised.
Breitbart’s pursuit of stories that the mainstream media didn’t — or wouldn’t — tackle changed the media landscape and made people take notice of issues or stories they otherwise would never have known about.
He died early Thursday morning in Los Angeles. He will be missed, but his hard charging spirit and push to rid government of scoundrels and cheats won’t be slowed.
Like many, I only knew Breitbart in as much as I had the good fortune to meet him a few times. It didn't matter that he had hundreds more hands to shake, he always took time to talk, most recently this past weekend at the Americans for Prosperity event in Troy.
He knew of the Mackinac Center. "They do good work," he said. We talked for a few minutes. He was all over the place and talking a mile a minute about his next great story.
“Reparations,” he said. “My editors are going to hate me this year, but I’m going to prove it’s all about reparations.”
But before I could ask what he was talking about, he was on to something else — and being mobbed by fans and admirers.
He shook hands and took pictures with everyone who asked. He was cordial and kind, and as we all know, proud of himself and the things he’d accomplished — appropriately so.
That pride and confidence riled up left-wing bloggers and more than a few journalists. They dismissed him and the stories he broke, even when he was right. As news of his death spread across the Internet, some liberals rejoiced by posting awful comments and disrespectful messages about him on Twitter.
I’ll bet he would have loved it.
Equally as telling, however, were the amazing stories others told on Facebook and elsewhere.
This past summer at a baseball game in St. Louis between the Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs, Breitbart gathered with about 30 people in the suite of Cubs co-owner Pete Ricketts, but instead of mingling with other free-market advocates, he sat and watched every pitch with one of his sons, said Joe Lehman, president of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, who was at the game with Breitbart.
Lehman said he had hoped he’d be able to spend some quality time with Breitbart talking about projects that could further a common cause. Instead, Breitbart’s attention was on baseball and one of his sons.
That tells you a lot about the man. The tireless pursuit of exposing the bad practices and bad actors corrupting government was important, but so was spending time hanging out with family.

An Eyewitness Speaks Out About Andrew Breitbart’s Death Scene.
CrimeFileNews.com ^ | 2 March 2012 | Crimefile
Los Angeles, CA—It was just after midnight when Christopher Lasseter was walking his little dog in Brentwood. He watched a man he now knows to be Andrew Breitbart crossing Barrington from The Brentwood.
Beritbart was walking without apparent distress in the direction of the Starbucks across the well-lit street. Once Breitbart stepped up on the curb, as Lasseter put it, “He fell hard like a sack of Potatoes.”
A man unknown to Lasseter called 911. The 911 operator told them to begin chest compressions on Beritbart until the police and paramedics arrived.
The very top photo shows where Breitbart died on his back with his head close to the lamp post on the left and his feet under the newspaper vending machine to the right.
Lasseter described Breitbart’s skin color as bright red.
I obtained the interview on video but it’s now property of TMZ.com so look for it over there. I will post a link here once it’s available.
We will be waiting with bated breath for the Medical Examiner's and the Toxicology Reports to know exactly what cut a young man's life short.
This sounds extremeely strange

My Friend, Andrew Breitbart
Townhall.com ^ | March 8, 2012 | Ben Shapiro
I recently became editor-at-large of Andrew Breitbart's empire, but I first met Andrew when he was still the unnamed other half of Matt Drudge's monster website. The year was 2001. I'd just entered college at UCLA, and after seeing the anti-Israel bias of the student newspaper, The Daily Bruin, I had become their token conservative columnist. My specialty was throwing bombs. The reaction to my pieces was absolutely unanimous: The liberals on campus hated them.
One day, I opened my email to find a missive from some guy named Andrew. No last name attached. It said that he worked with Matt Drudge. It also said he'd been sitting in a Westwood restaurant with nothing to read and picked up a copy of the Daily Bruin. He'd read my column, and he wanted to get together.
"Hell yes," I thought and told him so. A few days later, we were sitting at that same restaurant. I was watching him sip a Sprite and eat a plate of Mexican food, and we were chatting about what we wanted to do with our lives. I remember thinking that Andrew was one of the most electric characters I'd ever met: hysterically funny, brashly indifferent to the conventions of political correctness. Ballsy. Jovial. Nobody loved life more, or attacked it more ravenously.
And generous. There are a lot of nasty characters in the media space, as I found out early in my career. But Andrew was loyal to a fault. He would stand by his friends -- and his ideals -- through hell or high water. He was unremittingly giving. After finding out that I had just secured a deal to become the youngest syndicated columnist in the country, he quickly fixed me up with David Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, both of who are now close friends. Throughout my career, whenever I needed advice -- particularly on my last book, "Primetime Propaganda," in which I went semi-undercover to expose Hollywood's hatred for conservatives -- Andrew was there, explaining to me how to play the media. Nobody knew how to do it better. He drew his political opponents into his traps, and then locked the door as the walls began to shut in, Star Wars-style, although he would have preferred a John Waters reference.
Andrew was also a warrior, of course. Now that he's gone, people will characterize him as angry, which he was but only at injustice. Mostly, he enjoyed the battle, as most great warriors do. He loved the back and forth. He loved nothing better than the bizarre irony of mortal political enemies having a drink together -- which is why an hour before his death, he was apparently having an animated conversation with a liberal in a Westwood restaurant. Typical Andrew.
Everybody got along with him. He surrounded himself with people you'd never expect -- Orthodox Jews and liberal agnostics, libertarians and social conservatives, goofballs and the most serious of the serious. He liked everybody, and everybody liked him.
Andrew was a perfectionist, a narrative junkie, an excitable and unstoppable force of nature. He was loosey-goosey in his manner, but he was rigorous in his thinking. He was hilariously funny -- jokes and stories ran trippingly from his tongue, dirty and clean, but all without boundaries. There has never been anyone in his league when it comes to strategizing the media war. And there was no one I would rather take a late-night phone call from than Andrew. I'll never forget the 9 p.m. phone call in which he told me he had some sort of story on a Congressman from New York or the pure joy in his voice when he explained to me about the ACORN tapes, his booming laugh resonating in my ears. Andrew lived for this.
Andrew wasn't religious, but he believed deeply in the moral fabric of the nation. He knew the value of the American system of government and thought, and he would not stop fighting for it. Most of all, Andrew loved truth. He hated falsity, whether interpersonal or journalistic or political. He hated hypocrisy and couldn't stand two-faced politicians (as Anthony Weiner can attest). He was not a manipulator. He was unwaveringly honest, sometimes to his own detriment. He loved culture and hated ignorance.
When my father heard about his death, he wrote me, "You know how I always say that when someone vivid dies some light goes out of the world? In his case, it was like a torch going out -- brilliant and ephemeral. It reminds me way too much of him being like Diogenes carrying his torch in daylight looking for an honest man. Andrew was our Diogenes." I can't put it much better than that. As far as America is concerned, we're down by a Diogenes.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm down a great, great friend. Andrew, I will miss you. So will the country. But we'll keep on fighting until the fight is done.

Breitbart's Last In-Depth Interview: MSNBC Plot to Paint Obama Foes as 'Bigots'; Sharpton Hired to Help Mount Attack (Exclusive Audio)
4:00 PM PST 3/8/2012 by Paul Bond
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/andrew-breitbart-last-interview-al-sharpton-barack-obama-msnbc-297655
Before he died, the conservative new-media maven was readying a defense from attacks he expected from MSNBC, Media Matters and the White House.

.During an exclusive recorded interview with The Hollywood Reporter four weeks before his March 1 death, Andrew Breitbart alleged a plot between MSNBC and Media Matters for America — perhaps even in coordination with the White House – to paint detractors of PresidentObama as bigots.
The conservative firebrand suggested the strategy included pressuring advertisers (Rush Limbaugh's recent trouble keeping sponsors seems to fit the bill) and silencing conservatives (he cited Pat Buchanan, who has since been fired after 10 years as an MSNBC contributor). Essential to the strategy, Breitbart said, was hiring the Rev. Al Sharpton as a full-time host at MSNBC.
VIDEO: Andrew Breitbart to Star Posthumously in Two Movies; See Trailers (Video)
Sharpton premiered as host of PoliticsNation With Al Sharpton on MSNBC in August. He was hired, according to Breitbart, because accusations of racism against the Tea Party and other conservatives have more heft coming from him than they do from hosts Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz and Lawrence O’Donnell.
Breitbart said that having Sharpton, as well as such other prominent, left-wing African-Americans as Cornel West and the Rev. Jesse Jackson, appear only sporadically on cable news shows wasn’t sufficient to smear Obama opponents. Sharpton’s task is to identify the allegedly coded language of the right – which Breitbart called “dog whistles” -- that Sharpton can translate into something racially insensitive.
“Every single day, he and his team get to do that, as opposed to dropping in and saying, ‘Hey did you hear that dog whistle?' ” said Breitbart.
“Maddow, Ed and the others are lily white -- glaringly lilly white for a group of people who are saying that the Tea Party is racist — so they had to put up a black person in this role to save face from their glaring whiteness as they accuse the Tea Party of being racist,” he said.
STORY: Andrew Breitbart Talked Politics in L.A. Bar an Hour Before Dying (Exclusive)
“Going into the 2012 election cycle, they needed to have professional race arsonists to hear dog whistles where no one else would hear them in order to put Republicans and conservatives, again, on the defensive over race and again create the driving narrative that the only rational reason that somebody could disagree with a progressive, liberal, leftist, community-organizing president is simply because he’s black. It’s absurd, but MSNBC understands the value," Breitbart said.
“It’s true propaganda in its most glaring form,” Breitbart said, “and there are organizations who then take that data and use it to intimidate advertisers and intimidate networks to get certain people off the air.”
On his belief that liberals try to silence the voices of certain conservatives, Breitbart said: “There’s no equivalent on the right. There’s nothing that can get a left-wing pundit kicked off the air the way that these left-wing organizations are doing right now, like they did with Pat Buchanan. They are the new totalitarians — but that’s what leftism is, that’s what community organizing is, and that is what you’re going to see is a fundamental tactic going into this election cycle."

Breitbart didn’t share his exact strategy for fighting back between now and the November general election, nor did he offer much in the way of proof of his assertions, though he used his own appearances on MSNBC as evidence that the network coordinates with Media Matters, and that they both are confidants of the Obama administration.
“I went on Martin Bashir’s show,” said Breitbart, “and it was a caricature, an exaggeration of what I had come to expect, which was a series of questions that came directly from Media Matters.”
Breitbart said MSNBC and Media Matters "want to go after me, they want to destroy me and my media possibilities as much as they want to destroy Rush Limbaugh, and that’s because Rush has his own venue and I have my own venue."
Breitbart called Media Matters a “political organization masked as a watchdog group” whose “dispatches are immediately turned into the questions that are used on air by MSNBC, which serves the same purpose of defending the Obama administration.”
Media Matters, he said, is “a radical left-wing 501c3 that gets millions of dollars from George Soros and other radical left-wing organizations, including the SEIU, the organizations that are the foot soldiers for the Obama administration. MSNBC is using them in order to craft narratives. It’s a rigged operation. If anybody paid attention to the lineage of the questions and the narrative it would shock you. It’s direct from the White House. It’s direct coordination from the DNC.”

A six-minute clip of the Breitbart interview is embedded at the top of this story.
MSNBC declined comment. A spokesperson for the cable news network said Sharpton was not available for comment.
In an interview, a rep for Media Matters acknowledges that the organization provides information to progressive pundits who appear on MSNBC and elsewhere. And since August 2009, it has been conducting the Progressive Talent Initiative, a series of four-day boot camps that trains pundits to make their liberal arguments on television. The PTI has trained 100 pundits who have made 800 TV appearances. Media Matters doesn't divulge names, but spokesman Ari Rabin-Havt confirms that contestants from American Idol and The Apprentice have been through the program.
Rabin-Havt, though, says Breitbart's assertions that Media Matters is in league with MSNBC to embarrass conservatives is an exaggeration.
"Whenever we know certain conservatives are booked, we send a memo saying, 'Hey, you should ask them this question.' But there's no conference call saying, 'This is how you should attack your guest.' That would be inappropriate," says Rabin-Havt.
As to coordinating with the Obama administration, he says: "There are times when our interests are aligned with the White House, but we never get marching orders from them. … Yes, we call the White House if we have a question, just like any reporter would."
