The facts are that the fact checkers are full of shit and have been exposed themselves for being partisan hacks trying to prop up obama's disaster of a presidency.

When all you have are comedians and jokers who spin turds from oVOMIT, you know you are finished.

The Media's 'Fact Check' Smokescreen

Posted 08/30/2012 06:58 PM ET

Journalism: If media "fact checkers" are just impartial guardians of the truth, how come they got their own facts wrong about Paul Ryan's speech, and did so in a way that helped President Obama's re-election effort?

Case in point was the rush of "fact check" stories claiming Ryan misled when he talked about a shuttered auto plant in his home state.

Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler posted a piece — "Ryan misleads on GM plant closing in hometown" — saying Ryan "appeared to suggest" that Obama was responsible for the closure of a GM plant in Janesville, Wis.

"That's not true," Kessler said. "The plant was closed in December 2008, before Obama was sworn in."

What's not true are Kessler's "facts." Ryan didn't suggest Obama was responsible for shuttering the plant. Instead, he correctly noted that Obama promised during the campaign that the troubled plant "will be here for another hundred years" if his policies were enacted.

Also, the plant didn't close in December 2008. It was still producing cars until April 2009.

An AP "fact check" also claimed that "the plant halted production in December 2008" even though the AP itself reported in April 2009 that the plant was only then "closing for good."

CNN's John King made the same claim about that plant closure. But when CNN looked more carefully at the evidence, it — to its credit — concluded that what Ryan said was "true."

Media fact-checkers also complained about Ryan's charge that Obama is cutting $716 billion from Medicare to fund ObamaCare. Not true, they said. Medicare's growth is just being slowed.

But Obama achieves that slower growth by making real cuts in provider payments. And in any case, the media always and everywhere call a reduction in the rate of federal spending growth a "cut." So why suddenly charge Ryan with being misleading for using that same term?

In any case, Obama himself admitted that he's doing what Ryan says. In a November 2009 interview with ABC News, reporter Jake Tapper said to Obama that "one-third of the funding comes from cuts to Medicare," to which Obama's response was: "Right."

The rest of Ryan's alleged factual errors aren't errors at all; it's just that the media didn't like how he said it. But since when is it a fact-checker's job to decide how a politician should construct his arguments?

This isn't to say that journalists shouldn't check facts. Of course they should.

The problem is that the mainstream press is now abusing the "fact check" label, using it to more aggressively push a liberal agenda without feeling the need to provide any balance whatsoever. And, as the reaction to the Ryan speech shows, they are now blatantly using it to provide air support for Obama.

Is it any wonder that soon after Ryan's speech ended, the Obama campaign rushed out an ad using the media's "fact check" stories as its source?

Nothing scares Obama like truth

By Michael Graham
Friday, August 31, 2012 - Updated 21 hours ago

To paraphrase Mark Twain, there are three kinds of liars: Liars, damned liars . . . and screaming, foamy-mouthed MSNBC hosts watching Paul Ryan speak.

We have now moved into what academics might call the “post-factual” portion of the Obama campaign. For example: Tuesday night Ann Romney gives a warm, charmingly earnest speech. Obama flak Robert Gibbs calls it an “angry” night “full of insults.” What “insults?” He doesn’t say. He just says “Republicans are angry!”

Why? Because he needs them to be.

The RNC features black Republicans like Condoleezza Rice, Rep. Artur Davis and Mia Love. CNN and MSNBC fill their panels with nuts like Toure and the Rev. Al Sharpton decrying the “racism” in Tampa. Their proof? They don’t need “proof.” For Obama to win, they need Republicans to be “racist” — so the pundits say they are.

Republican Mitch McCon- nell quips “Obama hasn’t been working to earn re-election. He’s been working to earn a spot on the PGA tour.” MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell knows what’s up: “He’s aligning . . . the lifestyle of Tiger Woods to Obama.”

And in perhaps the most blatant example, DNC spokesflak Debbie Wasserman Schultz used a Los Angeles Times article to claim that Mitt Romney is responsible for the abortion plank of the GOP platform. CNN’s Anderson Cooper confronted her with the fact that the Times article she quoted said the exact opposite — that Romney did not support the plank as written.

Wasserman Schultz’s answer? “Anderson, it doesn’t matter.”

Wow.

Liberal “news” man Howard Fineman did us a favor Wednesday, laying out the Democrats’ strategy: “Prove clearly” that Paul Ryan — and Mitt Romney and anyone else who can do math — is “lying” . . . whether they are or not.

Why? Because Obama supporters can’t handle the truth. The facts about the Obama record are so awful, so indefensible that the very idea of “facts” must be destroyed.

Here’s a story Ryan told in his speech about a promise Obama made at a Janesville, Wis., auto plant: “Candidate Obama said, ‘I believe that if our government is there to support you, this plant will be here for another 100 years.’ That’s what he said in 2008. Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year.”

It’s an effective metaphor for the many promises Obama has made about the economy that didn’t come true. And that was the problem. It’s too effective. And so the Fineman Effect kicked in: Ryan was declared a liar.

“That plant was already closed in 2008,” screamed Chris Matthews, who nearly had to be placed in Hannibal Lecter restraints for his own protection. Thursday morning, Obama lackeys in the “politi-fact” business jumped in, claiming Ryan’s statement as false.

One problem: Ryan was right. Local media at the time reported the factory still making cars in 2009, and even GM, the plant’s owner, has posted on the Web: “Janesville was placed on standby capacity in May 2009.”

After their failure in convincing Americans of a “GOP War On Women,” Democrats have declared their own war: A war on truth itself.

LOL.   Did you even read his one damn quote!

yep

Quote
The facts:

First, some context. Ryan reportedly recalled this event incorrectly just days ago, during an August 16 speech in Ohio.

Ryan reportedly alleged that Obama said he'd "keep that plant open," and therefore broke his promise because the plant closed.

"That plant was shut down in 2009. I remember President Obama visiting it when he was first running, saying he'll keep that plant open," Ryan said, according to the Janesville Gazette. "One more broken promise."

The Detroit News pointed out that Obama made no such promise in the February 13, 2008, speech, and indeed, we've seen no account suggesting that Obama did. Here is the quote at issue, according to an account kept by the Council on Foreign Relations:

"I know that General Motors received some bad news yesterday, and I know how hard your governor has fought to keep jobs in this plant. But I also know how much progress you've made -- how many hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles you're churning out," Obama said. "And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years."

By "bad news," Obama apparently was referring to GM's February 12, 2008, announcement that it had a $38.7 billion adjusted net loss for 2007

The plant continued to produce medium/light duty trucks until April 2009 by a skeleton crew. It was a joint Izuzu/GM venture.

it's not in your response to me and I didn't notice what you were referring to

I see your post further up and the story

any chance "local media" got it wrong

the story gives no reference to what "local media" reported this and I've seen video of people who worked there saying that production ended in December

here's a link of photos from December 23, 2008: http://gazettextra.com/photos/galleries/last-day-gm/

All a moot point since Obama (the candidate and not even nominee and certainly not POTUS) never said he would keep that plant open

That is Ryans Big Lie

Their production might have ended at that time, but there were still light/medium duty trucks being produced until April 2009.

Fact: The plant was producing vehicles until April 2009.

Can you dispute that? Or do you still have a problem with facts?

The plant was effectively shut down on Dec. 23, 2008, when GM ceased production of SUVs there and laid off 1,200 workers. (Several dozen workers stayed on another four months to finish an order of small- to medium-duty trucks for Isuzu Motors.)

So, the plant closed while Bush was still in office, about a month before Obama was inaugurated.

You do understand that when a business plans to close, it always doesn't happen instantly. But you can play this weak ass game if you want. have at it. As it pertains to Obamas impact on this Plant the closure wheels were already in motion.. but screw all that huh.. they were still putting out cars somewhat....

lol..funny

what happened to it is that it never happened

I know Ryan told you it happened but Ryan was lying to your dumb gullible ass and in spite of all the information you've been exposed to you still somehow believe the lie

You do understand that all I was stating was that the Janesville Assembly plant was producing vehicles until April 2009, right? No where did say anything about what Obama may or may not have promised. This whole thing is hysterical, I state facts, a simple fact with no politics behind it and you fly straight off the handle projecting whatever whacked out shit you have bottled up onto my simple statement of fact.

All that stuff your carrying on about in your post did not come from me. I simply stated that the plant was producing vehicles until April 2009. That's it.

Actually, here is a quote from a few days ago:

That's actually a pretty damn good blog.

Anyways, here is the skinny.

-GM had scheduled to close the Janesville plant, which was a joint Izuzu/GM venture, during the summer of 2008.
-Production of GM vehicles ended during the later part of 2008, while Bush was still in office.
-The plant remained open to complete production of the last remaining light/medium duty trucks until April of 2009.
-After orders were filled the plant was shuttered and decommissioned.

Funny how you get all bent out of shape, projecting some weird ass political shit onto a simple statement of fact.

You're messed up.

so after the plant "officially" shut down they still did a contract job

if a restaurant shuts down and then the kitchen is used to do a catering job is the "restaurant" still officially open

I wonder if these people think the plant they worked at was still an ongoing concern after December 23, 2008
