Since it's in the news so much I've started to get curious about it. What is it about this drug that makes it so addicting? What feelings do you get from this drug that you don't get from any other drug?
Now I read that they found 70 bags of heroin in Philip Hoffman's pad. So if comes in powdered form? So, if that's the case, how do you make it into an injectable?
How much worse is heroin than say coke or pain killers like oxy?

Basically this. It's kinda like a drunk feeling, in that you feel warm, happy, and with an inflated sense of self worth. But you don't feel like being loud and moving around.
The filter is there so that the particles don't clog up your slin pin.
It delivers pretty much the same feeling as oxycontin, but it's much cheaper. That's why the wealthy generally do prescription pills and the poor do heroin

It reels you in by taking your pain away and giving you feelings of warm, fuzzy, euphoria.... and then drops you and leaves you in a puddle of sweat, vomit, and feces while you shake in horrible agony, every nerve ending is lit up like a chritsmas tree from just being alive... and just a drop will end the pain and make you ok... until a few hours later, when you wind up back in a puddle of sweat, vomit, and shit.

Majority of people will never be able to do such a thing once a week and so the gates of hell are wide open for them.
Longtime friend of mine was a Heroin addict for most of his life and that gave me the chance to experience some aspects of the drug and possible life changes brought forth by its use.

There is a reason why heroin is almost synonymous with various deadpeople throughout history.
Ive seen people kick heroin. Brutal. Grown men shaking, shitting, crying, seizures.
Believe it or not, kicking heroin isn't as bad as kicking years and years of boozin' cold turkey. People literally die from that.

When i was hospitalised for a year for pancreatitus, i was given 200mg morphine+60mg oxycodone+8mg xanax+40mg valium ed the whole year. For about 1,5 more year i was still given the same but about half the dose. Never did them before my illness. I could never stop it afterwards. Now I get subutex and 4 mg of xanax. Tried heroin twice but did'nt like it and never cared for it again, seems expensive, too uneven in quality...but what do i know from 2 times ? Opiates are heaven and hell at the same time....

Do you feel all those meds were necessary? Or did the doc's just keep you loaded up so they didn't have to deal with it?
Doctors are pieces of shit sometimes. Most of them prefer to keep you loaded to the gills than actually do anything.

I would never commit suicide, but if I had to do it to avoid torture or something I would chose morphine/heroin overdose and then read some classic getbig threads while laughing myself into the abyss.

Unfortunatly yes, all those drugs were needed. If I had to go through it again not being able to walk (wheelchair for a loong time...). Having 7 drain tubes in you at once so only thing I could do was lay in bed/sleep. They wake me up for several bloodwork tests every night.
5 docs tell me and my family I have 3-6 months left to live? I think the drugs saved my life. How they dealt with it afterwards when I told them I was addicted was horrible though! MF just cut me off everything! Had to buy morphine tabs, crush them up and inject them for WAY to long (and I used to hate addicts...).
I had to move to another city to get help.
I am very stubborn and use less than what they tell me to. As little of everything as possible. Did not take my subs today, half dose yesterday. Chills are starting to come now. Tried detox, treatment fascillities (4 diffrent...) and ALWAYS same result. After detox of subs come opiate cravings, this have led to 3 relapses on morphine (i've given it up right away each time, but then been back on subs again).
I've had other docs who overprescribe though. Time to take my med bro!

On the plus side, it's pretty straightforward existence living in a smackhouse - wake up, find money somehow, buy some gear, go home immediately and shoot up gear, fall asleep, REPEAT (occasionaly add in 'eat a discounted sandwich and some tic tacs' between 1 & 2)

yah comes as powder, dont ask how i know,i have never tried this drug btw.but seen ppl doing it
can sniff the powder, can smoke it from aluminuim foil,by heating from downside, and can inject.
they say they feel relaxed.
on the addictive scale, it really does you in cocaine is childsplay compared to this.some studies say the addiction power is equal or stronger than cigaretes, but many can neevr ever come down.

jesus... when I had pancreatitis all I got was 2mg diluadid 4-5x a day while in the hospital for 10days then was discharged with a script for 100 5mg vicodins with 1 (maybe 2?) refills.
that was the first time.. the second time I only got a script for 40 vicodins with zero refills. :-\

If you're using water, and I am assuming tap water, doesn't this cause the risk of infection to go way up? I don't think a sponge or filter will make it safe.

I've never smashed heroin before but I've smoked it along with opium and other poppy extracts way back in the day. There's a different high than pills probably because of the different alkaloids in different preparations. I tried out of curiosity and thankfully never enjoyed the high. But I can see how alluring it is.
If I didn't get so much nausea from opiates I can really understand why people like it. You get killer euphoria but I don't like the inebriated type of high, never did. And then because of seeing friends and family get hooked on opiates, I swore them off outside of acute injuries like when I broke my hand or if I get dental work done like extractions, etc.
I used to watch my dad hit that shit in his veins. Him and the other "street kids" he hung out with didn't realize how important it was to use new rigs. They were pretty stung out, just sharpening them and running them under tap water to clean them off (don't worry, they wiped it down with their fingers after too... ugh). I had lots of bacteriostatic water because my friend bought a flat, so I set them up with that and boxes of slin pins because I get them free. They would just cook it up in a special spoon they got from a headshop, mix the H, draw into syringe and bang it back once they've secured a good vein. It's insane to watch. It's like a ritual. I can see it becoming SUPER habitual and kind of reflected on how I prep to shoot gear. But when I pin gear there's no high. These guys fall back in their chair and try explaining the immense rush of euphoria, but they usually can't talk because they're so immersed in euphoria and start nodding off.
I obviously like to feel good as much as the next person, but I don't know if I ever want to feel THAT good. That's why people chase the high. When you know how good you can feel it must really destroy you inside trying to get to that level again. I am pretty much too scared to use Tylenol 3s and Demerol even, just because I've seen how addicted family members have become. I don't know if I'd ever get that addicted if I tried using opiates habitually so I just stay the fuck away. I know people with very strong wills who've just had a few unfortunate life circumstances compound and lead to crushing addiction. I can tell that no one intends on becoming strung out. It's just that things compound so quickly and you get so stressed. The only way to take the edge off is to get high and go down that shitty path. People look just one step ahead but not far enough to see the hell they're moving towards. That scares the shit out of me. Being lost like that. That's why I empathize with addicts so much. I know they can be shitty and totally lose their soul, but at one point they were just like us. :-\

I've done it.. I was so sick I couldn't move, puking, etc... opened the door in the parking lot of the grocery store where I met the dealer, sucked some water out of a puddle, and made my dope up with puddle water... my reasoning was that you boil the water when you burn the dope down... but in reality it was disgusting.

I had a terrible opiate problems for a couple of years right after college. It's amazing the people you end up hanging out with when you get into that life. People I would never even talk to ended riding shot gun next to me on the way to the hood to score. I tried dope a dozen times or so. The euphoria is.the best feeling you could ever imagine. I've been clean for years thank god. Everyone in my home town in my age group got hooked bad on opiates. Most of my friends actually eventually ended up getting clean. We were all pretty clean cut athletes just made some retarded decisions thought we were invincible.

Get dope known as "Persian" it's from Afghanistan. It comes in powdered from, its brown in color, as opposed to the white colored gank sold in bindles people get that are meant to cook up and shoot. The Persian is expensive, but well worth it. put a small amount on a piece of tin foil, heat from below, enjoy. It's amazing shit.

i'm prob one of the biggest substance abusers on this board and I can say I hate heroin without even trying it. I had oxy's from a surgery and they made me nauseas to a painful degree. I can't even take Benadryl that sinking feeling makes me puke.

To show you how out of it I am in regard to drugs. I had five surgeries during the 1990s. I was given vicodin after each surgery. I don't know how much but just a bottle full of tabs and one refillable prescription. I never took them. But I did refill the prescription because the pharm would contact me and I thought I might get in trouble with the doc if he thought I was taking the meds he prescribed. I knew they were pain killers but because I was going to be sitting at home for a week I wanted to be able to feel the pain so I don't over exert myself and delay recovery.
As you can imagine I accumulated a lot of bottle of vicodin over 5 surgeries. I had a friend who I use to train BJJ with and he was the opposite of me. Spent 8 years in prison for being a drug dealer and deep in the drug world. When I found out that he loved pain killers. When I told him about all the Vicodin I had his mouth dropped. He said, "Name your price." I said, "Um, $200" thinking I'd start high and bargain from there. I was hoping for $100. He just said, "What? Um, yeah. Well, I don't know. Ah, what the hell, I just got my tax return."
When it came time for the transaction I just ended up giving it all to him for free. I'm always uncomfortable taking money from a friend and he's had my back a few times. He just looked at me in disbelief and said, "Pellius, I've never said this to another man but I love you. I really love you." Then he embraced me warmly. I just kind of shook my head.
It was only many year later that I found out how in demand Vicodin is.

I had a terrible opiate problems for a couple of years right after college. It's amazing the people you end up hanging out with when you get into that life. People I would never even talk to ended riding shot gun next to me on the way to the hood to score. I tried dope a dozen times or so. The euphoria is.the best feeling you could ever imagine. I've been clean for years thank god. Everyone in my home town in my age group got hooked bad on opiates. Most of my friends actually eventually ended up getting clean. We were all pretty clean cut athletes just made some retarded decisions thought we were invincible.
That was the best part of getting sober for me. All these people I would have never hung out with otherwise, I could totally cut loose. My only need for interaction with them was if they could score for me. I would let these scambags give me the total runaround just in the hopes they had a hookup. It was such a good feeling to erase of their numbers from my phone.
As far as the topic goes, did diesel and oxy's for most of my late 20's. Like already said made me feel super relaxed, outgoing, and gave me tons of energy. It appealed to me in the beginning because I'm pretty introverted socially and it made any of that anxiety just wash away. No one could tell I was high, not like being all jammed up from coke. But that warm, relaxed euphoria goes away quickly with your tolarance building and soon when I didn't have any I wasn't leaving the house or my couch. Never did it so much that I got sick wanna die withdrawls but it did it's damage plenty. Prob blew 300-400kon that shit and ruined a kickass resedenti plumbing company I owned. I am absolutely convinced opiates are the devil come to earth.

I don't know how much but just a bottle full of tabs and one refillable prescription. I never took them. But I did refill the prescription because the pharm would contact me and I thought I might get in trouble with the doc if he thought I was taking the meds he prescribed. I knew they were pain killers but because I was going to be sitting at home for a week I wanted to be able to feel the pain so I don't over exert myself and delay recovery.
As you can imagine I accumulated a lot of bottle of vicodin over 5 surgeries. I had a friend who I use to train BJJ with and he was the opposite of me. Spent 8 years in prison for being a drug dealer and deep in the drug world. When I found out that he loved pain killers. When I told him about all the Vicodin I had his mouth dropped. He said, "Name your price." I said, "Um, $200" thinking I'd start high and bargain from there. I was hoping for $100. He just said, "What? Um, yeah. Well, I don't know. Ah, what the hell, I just got my tax return."
When it came time for the transaction I just ended up giving it all to him for free. I'm always uncomfortable taking money from a friend and he's had my back a few times. He just looked at me in disbelief and said, "Pellius, I've never said this to another man but I love you. I really love you." Then he embraced me warmly. I just kind of shook my head.
It was only many year later that I found out how in demand Vicodin is.

Although I'm far from an Obama fan I was surprise at the shit he got when he said smoking weed is better than getting drunk. I don't think anyone beat their wife or killed a family with their car while high on weed. I can deal with someone that's high. I can't stand a drunk.

in a way drugs effect people similar to sex. during sex you feel "high" because dopamine and other neurotransmitters are boosted similar with drugs. both get your mind off of negative thoughts. raking leaves doesn't have quite that effect.

I cluldnt kick methadone, with that horrible half life, I made it 10 days and had to go back go heroin to kick it... after the 10th day and everytbing was still getting worse and I hadnt turned rbe corner, I said fuck it, easier to kick H. Methadone is the worst shit in existence and anyone who is thinking about it to control their heroin habit t should stay the fuck away . Suboxone is 100x better

My sister in law was a multi-year heroin user. She's on year 10 (and counting) of methadone. I am not sure if it's an improvement, but at least she's conscious.
Both of her kids were born addicted to methadone and had to go through detox. Nice way to welcome your kids into the world. I will never understand why she can't steel herself and go through the withdrawals, and God willing I never will have to understand myself.
It's truly the devil's work.

not nearly as hard as heroin or methafone. I used soboxone to transition off of heroin last time, and then weaned myself off the Suboxone... the wds from subs are about 1 tenth as bad as heroin, but theyre much longer. Think a month long flu followed by 6 months of just feeling shitty.

Never really been around heroin before. I've been around people doing coke a bunch of times but they usually have the decency to not do it in front of me (except a couple months ago 3 people were doing coke in someone's kitchen while I watched. I only stayed because I wanted to fuck one of the girls who did). I don't really hang with anyone with drug problems. Most just stick with alcohol (including myself) when socializing.

Harder to kick than H. A friend of mine did go cold turkey off methadone and said it was absolute hell. 3 weeks into it and he couldn't believe it, still felt like ass. I've always felt going on methadone was a cop out. Methadone can get u high as hell and I think most addicts switch to it because they can't afford their dope habit anymore. Go get your cheap daily dose of methadone from the clinic! Soboxone just makes you level and taking extra does nothing, won't get u high. And almost forgot, it had the opiate blocker too. I switched to methadone because I coulnd't afford my suboxone anymore when I moved and lost my insurance.... Whats terrible about methadone, is A.Its extremely potent and B.You can stil use Heroin WHILE on methadone.
Most of the other addicts I was at the clinic with were using the methadone to NOT get sick, and still using dope on a daily basis. And I wound up doing the same, methadone was just a way for addicts to keep being addicts without having to go through the sickness when they run out of money.
When I decided enough was enough, I tried to kick mehtadone cold turkey... wasn't working. Wound up getting back on H, and then kicking that to Subs, and then weaning and kicking that about 8 months later.

He doesn't have to train actively right now (i am sure he trained before reaching his 40s) to be a mainstay on the Getbig-forum.
What he brings to the table (currently) is pure entertainment.
Some of us older members have slowed down our training regimen these days, as we have passed 40.
Groink and Wes are quite special though, great rolemodels for their age, that they still train as actively as before and still respond well to supplements.
We have people from many different paths in life on Getbig, and it's always interesting and refreshing to see the perspective from someone in Shizzo's shoes as well.
Every forum (regardless of area, be it cooking, bodybuilding, dating, technology etc), needs a Dave Czech, Jean Francois Papillon and a Shizzo to make people think out of the box and keep them on their toes every now and then.

Since it's in the news so much I've started to get curious about it. What is it about this drug that makes it so addicting? What feelings do you get from this drug that you don't get from any other drug?
Now I read that they found 70 bags of heroin in Philip Hoffman's pad. So if comes in powdered form? So, if that's the case, how do you make it into an injectable?
How much worse is heroin than say coke or pain killers like oxy?

stay away from herion, talk about going thru hell for 5 or 6 days with withdrawel. if u do use opiates find a suboxone doctor n get a script just incase u cant get no more dope, the suboxones will make u feel great n u will suffer no withdrawel symptoms at all,it works

FYI, alcoholics are some of thw wprst kind of addicts. At leasy those of us using hard drugs could admit we were addicts. The alcoholics kept crying 'But its legal, im not an addict!!! I dont need to be here!!' All the while their livers were failing, they were shaking so bad that they couldnt talk/hold their coffee mugs, and they were having seizures/pissing themselves/hallucinating and almost having heart attacks from their blood pressure being through the roof.
Word! I wish i moved back to Amsterdam... Never put my foot into another pub after i stopped working as a bouncer.

Although I'm far from an Obama fan I was surprise at the shit he got when he said smoking weed is better than getting drunk. I don't think anyone beat their wife or killed a family with their car while high on weed. I can deal with someone that's high.I can't stand a drunk.

You dont go from driving a merc to a hyundai without thinking about the merc everyday of your life... or from banging a 10/10 to a 6/10 like its nothing. That can help you relate how heroin is (or meth)

On a far lesser level of self-destruction--- I can't stand being around smokers. Most notably, the type that can't go more than 2 hours without smoking. They are nervous wrecks without their nicotine fix. Around the 2 hour mark, they start showing mild symptoms of withdrawal.
