Title: Serious topic: hydration
Post by: chaos on September 01, 2014, 08:31:35 PM
What do you guys that actually lift drink to stay hydrated?

I used to drink low cal gaterade drinks but since being on a budget I switched to those 100% fruit juice boxes from Costco.

That's if its a lower carb day.

Then frequent trips to the water fountain.

Water or water with Crystal Light. Gatoraide is too hard on my stomach during a workout. When I drink Gatoraide, I usually dilute it by 50%.

Only if you're in your tighty whiteys!
I drink water constantly all day, but occasionally throw in a gatorade here and there.

The simple simon method works good for choking down water all day...throw some scoops of BCAA powder into your jug, pretty tasty, no homo.

Green tea or a sugarless ice team are okay too.

Stay away from too much in the soda or energy drink choices.

I don't like it or the Vitamin water at all.

Once in a while I will have Propel in black cherry flavor.

Idk why people proclaim as if it's some great revelelation "By the time you feel thirsty, you're already dehydrated."  No shit.  That's what thirst is.  Drink some water when you feel it and then you won't be thirsty anymore.

Drinking 27 glasses of water a day or whatever they say you're supposed to do is bullshit.  Everywhere you go the first thing you're looking for is a toilet.  Who wants his entire existence governed by the demands of his urine?

Piss, you go there with some other dudes and drink each other's piss. Love it, consider yourself invited to the next desert piss drinking event. Straight from the tap.

What happens in the desert...

You drink a lot of liquid, like every 30 minutes, all day.

You learn to stay away from booze and caffeinated beverages during the heat of the day.

And......apparently some fellows drink urine.

Except dysentery, that doesn't stay in the desert. It seems every time I come home from one of these events I suffer from dysentery. Worth it though.

You know what I used to love and miss really bad? Those original Ultra Fuel's by Twinlab in the glass bottles. They used to keep them ICE cold in my gym but then TL stopped making then. The plastic bottle version and powdered stuff was just not the same.

But the only liquids I drink at all now are water and decaf. That's it.

Acqua di Cristallo Tributo a Modigliani  $60,000 per 750 ml
(http://static4.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/443/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/agua.jpg)

This is probably the most expensive bottled water in the world. At $60,000 per 750 ml, this ought to quench your thirst and empty your pocket. The water is sourced from either France or Fiji. If you really think about it, this is not really that expensive considering the fact that the bottle is made of solid gold that weighs 24 karats. The bottle was designed by Fernando Altamirano of Tequila Ley fame, the makers of one of the most expensive spirits in the world. He is also credited with the design of the Cognac Dudognon Heritage Henri IV, considered the most expensive cognac bottle in the world. Aside from the solid gold bottle, there were also versions in gold matte, silver, silver matte, crystal and a variety of combinations of all these.  The non-solid gold bottles sell for $3,600 dollars. The bottles all come with a leather case. The water also contains 5 milligrams of gold dust.

There is a lot of bullshit going around regarding exact amounts of water to drink each day etc, but one thing I've adhered to is drinking a few glasses of water first thing when I wake up, and waiting at least 30 mins afterwards until I drink coffee or eat anything.

Rehydrates your organs and gives you more energy.

I used to drink coffee first thing but not the best idea to drink a diuretic to hydrate yourself after 8 hours with no liquids  :-\

I just made a quick video last Thursday for my athletes and the schools that I work with about hydration and over hydration. In short, I always recommend pedialyte. Point of reference for water recommendation 1/2 oz per LB of BW. Pedialyte is almost perfect ratio (about 7grms of carbs per 8oz) so 50:50 water to pedialyte per gallon. Been doing recommending this for years with no cramping, hot or cold.

you better be careful with that shit. It works and all but you need to consider the risks.

So many people have died just from inhaling it. Definitely a supplement for the advanced trainer.

The reason to give it at least 30 mins, is that you want the water to be the only thing in your stomach. Once your body has taken the water it needs in the bloodstream to rehydrate the organs, then you can fill up your stomach with food coffee etc. Probably doesn't make a huge difference if you drink plenty of water and then eat straightaway, but I want to let my body rehydrate and then eat.

i was kidding

i never throw hands over apple juice

it's in the quran, after all

I just enjoy the taste of apple juice. Orange juice is too acidic for me, even as a kid I thought it was kind of nasty. In the  morning many of us like juice to wake us up with coffee because it basically is sugary. So it gives us some immediate energy. And I like the taste of apple juice.

So, yes. Apple juice!

Hahaha yes, some people don't have the correct face for advice  ;D

It's actually a Japanese 'remedy' for a lot of ailments, I think it's like 4 glasses and an hour before eating though, so I just do my own version that suits my morning routine - i.e. I can't eat and drive so I just do 30 mins
