I think Rich is a really cool guy and he's 100% right about social media being the ticket to $$ success in the modern fitness industry.

What bugs me is that he never won any bodybuilding contest of substance and has no academic credentials or certifications.
Yet, because of social media people think he's something .

Guys involved in bodybuilding know what he did to obtain those cosmetic muscles. I wonder if the general public is in awe of him or do they laugh?

Now, now, now......Howard.

Don't you know that we live during the time of generation nothingness? This is a time where you don't need an education, certifications and/or even an actual talent whatsoever to be famous.

Today, people like Kim Kardashian, who walks around with the behind of an overweight, 65 yr old woman with no actual talent can become a multimillionaire.

I don't blame these talent-less individuals for their success. On the contrary, I blame the incredibly stupid masses that will volunteer to give up their money to support and perpetuate their presence in the media.

Kardashian, Piana, as well as any other crafty individual that has made it to fame via "leaked" videos or YouTube channels are all simply hustlers that have figured out a way to make the average person part with their money with very little resistance involved.

Great post and I agree.

Rich Piana all but came out and said, his main goal is the make a living and use social media for self promo.
Piana seems like a cool dude and would be interesting to work out with or whatever.
I don't think I'd take much contest prep advice from him.

I don't understand why it should bother you. He found a way to create a business and make money. It's doesn't take an MBA to have a successful business. The gym where this meet is being held is a good friend of mine. It's a personal training gym that does well over a million a year. If more people would take the initiative we wouldn't have so many on the government dole.

This is true. There is a large group of people in the world with very low IQ who are too dumb to see through the fakeness, the facade, the lies and the bullshit. This is their target audience.

It's comparable to WWE wrestling, targeting low IQ white trash.

Good pts BUT.

BUT, in most service provider business you need some successful experience and/or credentials.
The man has no personal contest success of merit.
He has no degrees , certifications or training to gain expertise.

Other then being a big dude with some personal charisma , what kind of expertise does he have ?

Degrees don't mean shit and certs don't mean shit unless you're working with certain demographics such as athletes, etc. with bodybuilding, training experience is most important.  This guy been training for about 25 years.

Pretty much. But there are varying degrees of stupidity. Its one thing to talk about them on here, another thing to buy their supplements or subscribe to their FB or Instagram page. While I somewhat play a part of the stupid masses, I at least try to limit it by not directly providing them with money.

Exactly. When you have enough stupid teenagers believing in this 5% bullshit, you don't need to have any credentials. You just need to ensure that the people you're marketing to are naive (teenagers, hardcore gym rats). Rich Piani would not survive 5 minutes on Wall Street or in the real corporate world.

But I guess good for him for targeting a naive population and selling himself!

Yup.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  I don't care for him or others like  him but then I am far from his target audience.  I got suckered into ordering (for  more than I made in a week) some Weider Weight Gain 10,000 back in the early 70s by ads in Muscle Builder/Power or whatever he called it that week, so I understand completely!   ;D

Agreed. But good thing for him there is enough naive teenagers and stupid hardcore gym rats to fall for his "5%" crap. He found a niche and went with it.

But as stated, in the real corporate world of business, he would not last 5 minutes. He just doesn't have the skill set or mindset.

Though, if people ever "wake up" like getbiggers regarding supplements and all that shit, hes going to be in for a rude awakening. But I dont suspect that happening any time soon.

True.

BUT what objective success has Rich Piana had as a competitive bodybuilder?

He's been competitive in national level show Howard, and he wasn't lost in the sea of competitors as you would like to say.

I get your point but you're failing to realize this generation do sent care about bodybuilding,  they want to be lean and big, aka look good. For example look at the amount of idiots who pump their upper bodies full of oil, all show.

I know men in their mid 30's who adore Piana because he's big and lean, these guys buy his sups thinking there's something to them because old Rich is a "straight shooter".

His resume and credentials are obvious.  It's just not our cup of tea.

He has the perfect marketing scheme. He is very honest (straight shooter) about his steroid use and other shit, therefore, he must be honest about his supplements.

For some reason, guys like Piana seem to make more $$ and get a bigger following then a lot of pros.
I know plenty of gym rats that would be more likely to listen to him or Palumbo then a top 5 Olympia pro.

Exactly, despite the fact that he has a video that he states all supplements and junk except for his of course. I have guys you drink his All Day convinced it does something,  one even said it has a lactic acid buffer in it ::) and these are grown men with over a decade of training. ......

And this is because pros are blatant about lying about their drug use, ie Liar Priest.  It's the same reason Bostin Lloyd has a cult following,  even if his lies are to the other extreme,  you give the people what they want.

This naivity is spread like a deases all over the world in all categories, not just stupid teenagers in the gym.

Expensive food, cheap food, shit food, wine, wiskey, clothes, schampoo, sneakers, makeup, hairshit, just EVERYTHING on the market is 99% bullshit!

And what the hell is this 5% shit, what does it mean?

I like Rich.  He is living proof that all the morons that say anyone can become a pro if they take huge dosages of gear and train halfway hard with even subpar genetics are full of shit.

Ask yourself, what percentage of people are out there actually doing whatever it takes to fulfill their dreams, to accomplish their goals, and to live the type of life they want to live?

That Is Where The 5% Comes In
You may be more familiar with the 95% of people that start and never finish. The goal was too hard, seemed too impossible to achieve, and felt like their goal was too far to reach. Maybe it is too hard, too impossible, and too far out of reach; that doesn’t stop the 5%er!

5% Is Not Just A Number Applicable To Fitness
It applies to ALL areas of life; finances and business, the pursuit of happiness and freedom, family, sports, a way of life, education, personal development, etc. Of course it’s not an easy path to take, that is why only 5% of people accept the challenge
Ask yourself, what percentage of people are out there actually doing whatever it takes to fulfill their dreams, to accomplish their goals, and to live the type of life they want to live?

If Rich is 295lbs, as he claims, how fucking small does that make Coach?  Rich looks like he has 150lbs on Coach in that picture.
...Maybe PMMA is lighter than water?  We know that oil is lighter than water, haha...

What's Rich account on here?

He hasn't logged in for over 8 years though. This was Rich pre-PMMA.

Perhaps if he stayed here, Getbig's resident psychologists like uberman would have cured him of his mental disorders.

You could honestly make the claim that coach looks like he never lifted a weight in his life, in that pic with Piana.

All those years of lifting (with roids) and now a "strength and conditioning coach", and he could pass for stocky dude who works in a pizzeria.

IF you walk into a pizzeria, and you see a stocky italian guy, you know you're going to get a good slice of pizza.

When Rich's ex came on here and started shit talking him, the guy remained cool as hell.  Never did he bad mouth her, act like a jerk or anything.  He seems like a nice guy, a big liar about his "muscles" but still a nice guy.

I think Rich is a really cool guy and he's 100% right about social media being the ticket to $$ success in the modern fitness industry.

What bugs me is that he never won any bodybuilding contest of substance and has no academic credentials or certifications.
Yet, because of social media people think he's something .

Doom agrees!  Bah!

VERY well written!!!!

Degrees don't mean shit and certs don't mean shit unless you're working with certain demographics such as athletes, etc. with bodybuilding, training experience is most important.  This guy been training for about 25 years.

Solid post.
